Can anyone please help?

I sleep on my tummy each night but now that I'm carrying (7 weeks only!) I wake up with dreadful cramps in my stomach throughout the night because I'm on my front. Last night the pain woke me up and was almost unbearable. I slept the night jammed between hubby and a teddy bear so I couldn't roll onto my tummy throughout the night, needless to say I got no sleep. Can anyone advise how they conquered this problem - are there any body pillows or suchlike out there? Is it normal to get these kind of cramps from sleeping on my front so early on in the pregnancy? I know that as I get further into it I won't be able to sleep on my front but right now my belly isn't big enough to prevent me rolling!

I would dearly love some sleep - I haven't had any this week at all because of these night cramps in my tummy area which wake me up!

Apart from that I'm loving this experience :)

Hi!
I'm not really sure if this will help you or not because I'm not sure if it is the same pain you are experiencing, but there is a ligament that runs on both sides of the belly. In my really early pregnancy days it was always acting up and I found myself feeling crampy most days until I was about 14 weeks along. If I over stretched my belly I had sharp shooting pains in that area that knocked me to my knees. I just made sure not to stretch my belly too much. If I stretched this area too hard, the ligament pain returned and caused horrible pain.

I mentioned it to my doctor, but she was certain there was nothing to worry about - that was me though. It may be different for you.

You might want to mention this to the doctor the next time you go in - it may be something as simple as the ligament, maybe not.
I know that the uterus is doing a lot of growing, so the pain may be associated with that as well.

Best of luck,
Christy

Hi Christy, thanks for that.

The pain you mentioned sounds exactly like mine. Even a stretch yawn caused asharp pain. I went to my first ante-natal today and mentioned this to the midwife. She didn't seem overly concerned about it and said it is probably my growing uterus! So I feel much better now.

Thanks :)
