Can anybody help me with an arms/back dilemna r/o

Hi everyone:

I'm an intermediate to advanced exerciser who hasn't actively excercised as I used to this past year. Well here is my problem, my arms, especially the back where they meet the shoulders and the sides of my back are getting thick. I know this sounds awkward but this is where my problem is.

Which exercises will help me in these areas; I always tend to gain my weight here. I've though about going back to Cardio Kicks and Circuit Max but the only problem is I lose weight ALL over my body, especially my legs, hips and butt. Because I naturally have broad shoulders and put on weight on my upper body I want to avoid losing weight on my bottom so I can keep somewhat of a shapely figure.

Can anyone help?

Many thanks,

Joy

Hi Joy-

I would suggest incorporating more of the kickboxing into your regimen. All of those jabs, hooks, punches will really lean out that shoulder/back area nicely for you.

Also, as far as weight work for your upper body, I would focus on endurance weight training as opposed to mass building training. Maybe you could do PH or ME using lighter weights on the upper body portions but then use heavier weights for the legs to maintain shape in that area. If you have the CTX series the strength portions of that would be great too.. high reps, lighter weights.

I would think doing some planks would help as well. There is alot of focus on the upper body and back. But because you aren't lifting heavy weights you would minimize the bulk if that is your concern.

Good luck and let us know how it goes!
