Calories burned shoveling snow?!?!

I so wish I wore my HRM. I just got in from 3 hours of shoveling heavy, wet snow. I couldn't believe it when I came back in and it was after one o'clock!

I did PLB and GS BSB last night and my arms were killing me before I even started shoveling. I have Low Max on my rotation for today. Not sure I'm going to be able to tackle that. Maybe after I take a nap...

You probably burned like a gazillion calories,....

Ps.

My bulbs are coming up ...
The snow has to go...

Definetly a gazillion calories...or at least that's what I keep telling myself! ;-)

It is supposed to get up to 60 degrees by Friday here in NE Massachusetts, so hopefully the 12 inches we got will be gone by the end of the week!

Take care!

FitDay says you burn 5 calories every minute for hand shoveling snow. Isn't wet snow the worst!! I shoveled all winter and the "spring snow" was by hard the hardest!! Good Job!! Peggy

I hear ya, Melissa. I was wondering how many calories I burned this morning doing "Body Max 3"! I looked out the window this morning at 5:00 and saw what looked like another 8 inches (I shoveled 5 inches or so yesterday). No big deal...I figured I'd workout, then shovel, then head into work. So, stupid me, did SJP, step and hi/lo premix, then donned my Carharts and headed out the door. Well, needless to say, I realized just how insane I was for working out! It took me about an hour and a half before I could head off to work, where I got to do, yes you guessed it, another hour or so of shoveling just so that we could get the horses out to their paddock! Then, because that just wasn't enough for one day, still had to ride a bunch of horses this afternoon.

I'm not feeling quite so guilty now about that little (well, not so little) bit of Irish soda bread that I munched on today :9 }( .

I think a bunch of us are going to sleep well tonight!

Take care,
Wendi
