Calculating MAX HR which do you use?

I am determined to find my correct Max HR since I got my F11 HRM .

I was using the 220 - age formula but are there other formulas out there for a more accurate readout of one's Max HR?

Since I got my HRM I feel that I can up my HR% when the HRM says I am over 85%

At over 85% I still feel fine and I always end up over 'in the zone' targets.

Any ideas? Or am I forced to pull back and decrease my miles :/

In my running days I was told that the best way to find your max hr is the following. Find a very steep hill, and run it up for a few times. For last repeat, when you are running as fast as you can, purple in the face and ready to puke -- that's about your max heart rate. Not very scientific, but works. Good luck!
