Cathlete
Good morning, girls! :) :) :)

Angie ~ ((((HUGS))) I'm so sorry about that rough day you had, especially your friend's passing. It seems so sudden. Do you know what happened? My fingers are crossed that Kirby'll be OK. At least bodily waste is functioning OK -- that's a good sign. I'll be thinking of you. Keep us posted...I think Ziggy is still in our local newspaper, but I don't read the comics that often. It's funny, on this month's calendar, he is standing on a hilltop with a butterfly net over his shoulder and is looking out in front of him (where the skies are empty) when behind him are a TON of butterflies. He just has to turn around and look. I think I'm going to save this page and use it next school year to teach my kids inference. It's a perfect positive message for the beginning of the year...I figure if I managed the post-BC long run last weekend, I can do it a few more weekends...In the shellfish family, I was told I am allergic just to crab apparently, but I am beginning to wonder about that. The last couple of times I ate shrimp, my nose started running. Love, love, love seafood. It's my favorite. But still, I don't want to eat it *every day*. So it's the allergy to oats that bums me out. *lol* I really like oatmeal and oat cereals and have experimented with how much I can have. I really can't eat them every day, which sucks. I did have a smooth day. With the kids taking a test, it was nice not having to teach after a long, busy week.

Wendy ~ best of luck in today's 5K! Have fun with Shelly.

All right, ladies. I'll ease into the morning a little more, and then it's off to BC.

Have a great one!

Hello Ladies.

(((((Angie)))): What an awfully sad day you had yesterday. I hope your dog improves but if not, please consider taking him/her to the vet this weekend if you have to. I'm sorry about your neighbor. Where his health issues that severe to where this death was not a complete shock or did it seem like he'd pull through? Either way, I'm sorry. It's always hard no matter what the circumstances. :-(

Cathy: Enjoy BC this morning!!!!!!!!!

Off to get ready.

BBL!

Back to report that I survived another http://s228.photobucket.com/albums/ee296/runninteach/th_5star.gif boot camp class. Gorgeous day (finally no stinkin' rain! :)) and we worked hard. There may be a nap in my future today. :7 (The rest of the plan includes a chiro visit, bill paying, cleaning, some studying, and kickback time.) How about the rest of you? Lost one of my band-aids and had my heel rubbed raw, so let me go doctor that up. Be back later to catch up with all y'all. :) :) :)

Morning girls

I got some sleep but still feel like having a pity party. My chest is tight with that sick feeling. I just can't stop thinking about Jack. He was the nicest man you could ever meet and I hate being so teary eyed but I just can't help it. My heart is broken.:( I gotta get on the phone and order some flowers and DH and I will be going to the funeral tomorrow. It's probably a 3 hour drive downstate. Thanks girls for the well wishes - it means more than you know.
I gotta find some motivation to get this house in order. It's such a mess! I've managed to get some laundry going and that's about it. After I get off the computer I'll push myself to get it done.

Cathy - We're not sure what happened exactly but he had a triple bypass this winter and things seemed to be going OK after that. He didn't break any speed healing records or anything, but he was OK. I'd bet his heart gave out. They wanted to do a quadruple bypass when he was in surgery before but they said in his condition, the surgery would've been too risky.
Kirby's doing much better today. She's eating and drinking today and moving around much better. She went up and down the stairs all by herself and I was impressed with that. Her eyes and expressions look much more normal as well and she's wagging her tail again. Whew! Her personality is back! I'm relieved on that front.
You're allergic to oats too?? What a total bummer!
Excellent job on the BC class. Now you don't have to be afraid again for another week. *lol*
Well your tests should be a snap to grade as opposed to all those essays huh? Hopefully you don't have too much homework to tackle this weekend. Enjoy your downtime.
Hope those blisters don't mess up your planned long run. Ouchie!

Wendy - Yup, Jack's passing was a shock but not completely unexpected. With his health problems and his age we kinda knew his time was going to be short, just not this short. We were certainly looking forward to having a nice cookout with them when they were up north again. This cottage was Jack's haven, so I'm not sure how much we'll see Barb anymore. I'm sure we'll discuss that tomorrow when we see her.
Hope you have some great weather for the 5K. Go Wendy go!!!

Diana - Hope you are having a nice relaxing Saturday. Do you have a football game to go to this weekend?

Alrighty....gotta find some motivation and concentrate on the positive right??? I think I'm gonna go grab a son and give him a big hug. ;-)

Hi Girls!

I finished my race with a new PR! 28:27! I am THRILLED!:7

I'll be back in a bit with personals.

Ange ~ I say do whatever you feel like doing - if it's remembering Jack or having a good cry or hugging your boys - go with it. The housework can wait...I hope Barb will continue the cottage getaways...A three-hour drive. That is far. Will you stay over?...I am really glad to hear that Kirby's condition has improved. Maybe she just had a bug of some kind...Oh, I graded the tests before I left on Friday (YEAH!!! :7), so in terms of schoolwork, I have lesson plans and that's it. That should give me more opportunity to study for the Board exam...I know--I'm hoping the band-aids hold up for me tomorrow, too, 'cuz once they fell off, man, was it burnin'!!!More (((HUGS))) I'm so sorry you lost your friend, and just before a scheduled visit...Ya know, that brings up a personal connection. That happened with my uncle, too, when he passed. Hard to believe, but it is already 12 years this Fourth of July. I was all booked to go visit him for 3 weeks over in Germany, and 3 weeks before my trip, he was killed in an accident. I flew over early for his funeral, and when I got to my aunt's house, she showed me all these little gifts he had bought for me in anticipation of my arrival. Anyway, I'm digressing, and there go my eyes filling up. I bring that up 'cause I understand that feeling of wishing for just one more visit together. :( :( :( My heart goes out to you.

Hey, has anyone ever had a bad reaction to a bug bite of some kind? The other night my joints, neck, and bones were aching terribly, and I thought ut oh, I might be coming down with something. I felt a little achy the next morning but not quite as bad. Well, I don't know if it's related, but when I got to school, I noticed my forearm was hurting when I brushed it. I found a raised red bump there with redness radiating around it, and it's still pretty painful with just a light touch. No itch. Sometimes I'm getting some shooting pains that feel like they're in my elbow or the arm bone. Curious. Guess I'll just keep an eye on it. Never had anything like this before.

ETA: Woo-hoo, Wendy!!!!! http://s228.photobucket.com/albums/ee296/runninteach/happycelebrations/th_bthumb3.gif Dat is AWESOME!

Hey

Congrats Wendy!! Have you noticed that every time you run one of these you get a PB? Talk about inspiring! That is absolutely super!! Do you get sore with the 5K's or are they short enough to not bother you too much?

Cathy - DH and I will be on the road all day. We'll both have to be back for work on Monday so it looks like it will be an all day affair going down there and getting back home. I'll be taking a book for sure. I was expecting just to kick back tomorrow and not do much of anything, but since that's no longer the plan, I'm cancelling the crab dinner tonight and we'll just grab a pizza and antipasto salad with CABs at home instead. I just don't feel like going out, especially with all the traveling we'll be doing tomorrow.
Awwwwww - thanks for sharing your story with your uncle. How very sad. I guess ya just never know huh? It sure does make life seem so fragile.
I'm thinking Kirby just pulled a muscle or put her back out or something. Shes eating treats today but still not eating her dog food, which is not really like her. But, she's much better so I'll take it.
Very weird about the bite. I get that kind of reaction to Augmentin. It's the only allergy I have that I am aware of. It makes all my joints hurt like he((. Apparently my body doesn't metabolize the drug like it's supposed to and it gives me a few days of the worst "arthritic" like pain that you can imagine. I remember I couldn't even put my own shoes on b/c my hands hurt so bad. It was awful. I'm sure it wouldn't be unheard of for a bug bite to do the same thing. Keep an eye on it and have it checked out if it gets worse.

I gotta drag my butt downstairs and get my w/o done. It looks like I'm the only exercise slacker today. ARX and Kenpo shouldn't be too bad.

Hey Girls.

It took me a while but I'm back. :)

Ang: Hugs and more hugs to ya girl. Cathy is right. The housework can wait. Do what you need to do to deal with your feelings of loss. For some I am sure doing the housework would help but if it's no what will help you then just let it go for now. You and your DH are such good people to take that 3 hour drive to go to the funeral. Many of lesser character would probably bawlk that it's too long of a ride and use it as an excuse not to go. x(

Cathy: I'll bet that's excatly what was going on with you-an allergic reaction I mean. I would keep an eye on it just incase but I'm sure it will be fine. Glad you got the grading done. :) The story about your uncle was very touching. Your relationship with him sounds like it was wonderful. He obviously loved you very much. :)

I just put DS down for his nap and am drinking some java. I need to do a little house work while he's napping and I think when he gets up (if the weather holds out), DH and I are going to bring him down the street to the boardwalk to go on some rides. :)

BBL.

Angie ~ mm, pizza, salad, and CABs sounds perfect, too...I'm seeing a smidgen of pus starting to develop on the bite, so I'll blast that sucker with some peroxide and keep an eye out. You girls confirmed what I was thinking--it must be a mild allergic reaction.

Wendy ~ Oh yeah. There probably ARE some people who would find housework to be a stressbuster, huh? That never occurred to me. *lol* Oh, thanks. Yeah, I was really close to my uncle. I was just blown away by his kindness. The gifts he'd bought weren't expensive, but they were *exactly* what I would have wanted. He was one of those cool-guy-on-the-outside, teddy-bear-on-the-inside, super thoughtful people. I'm grateful he was in my life for as long as he was...Have fun on the boardwalk...it's finally beautiful out there! Which shore town do you normally visit?

>>>Which shore town do you normally visit?<<<

Well, let's see...if I am traveling for a day trip or just for an evening on the boardwalk then I will hit Point Pleasant as it's nice and it's relatively close by.

For vacation or long weekend type stuff I just LOVE Wildwood!}(

We actually LIVE in a "shore town". I live 2 blocks from the beach. You can see the water (the bay) and the verazano brige (on a clear day)from my son's bedroom window. We have a small boardwalk with rides, games and food down the street from us. It's literally a 5 minute walk to get there. Sounds great, doesn't it? HAH! It's not. LOL I live in a cr@ppy town. There are lots of poor folks that live here and while that is fine and I have nothing against being poor, unfortunately that also comes along with higher crime and just a generally less attractive looking area. Thankfully we have good neighbors and nothing has really gone on in our neck of the woods. I think the majority of the "bad news" lives on the other side. What's funny is way back when (in the 20's, 30's and maybe even beyond) this town was the place to go. It was a rockin' shore town and alot of the homes here are very small as they were vacation bungalows for the folks who could afford them. Same idea as what you'll find in other shore towns today. In addition, when I was growing up we used to come here to the boardwalk often. It's a great boardwalk for kids. It's truly geared for them for the most part. It's just that the town has gotten worse as years have gone by. They have started working on a plan to bring this town back. They are building new condos on the water and supposedly the boardwalk will be a gonner eventually. They are also advertising a set up similar to Pier Village in Long Branch that is supposed to be built here. Perhaps this town will see another hay day but I don't think we will be here to see it actually happen. We purchased here because it was what we could afford. Since we haven't gotten out as of yet we are going to stay put so that we can take advantage of Joey being able to attend pre-k for FREE so that I can get a decent job and bank some extra money. Once we feel we have enough $ we are going to look into putting our house up for sale and moving. Yeah, I know I've talked about selling our house before...LOL...I guess it was just the wrong time but trust me, we DON'T intend to stay here forever!

Sorry you asked? :7 :7 :7

Hi ladies,

Looks like I lost my post. Anyway-I stayed in bed and watched my recorded shows this morning before heading off to Jerod's football game. They won like 38-6! Jerod caught a running catch that should've been a touchdown pass but he ended up falling down after catching the ball and never made it into the end zone. It was a great photo op and I forgot to bring my new camera.

My eating has been terrible and I just don't seem to care. I really need to reign in my diet to get the results I'm looking for. I'm not sure what the problem is but I really need to work on my eating habits. I do better during the week but still end up snacking on things I know I shouldn't be.

I think I mailed out all of Zach's grad announcements and party invitations yesterday. Now all I have to do is rent some tables & chairs, get decorations, order the cake and plan the food. I'm going to ask MIL to help with the food since she is retired and loves to cook. His graduation is June 3rd and the party is June 7th.

Angie-So sorry to hear about the loss of your dear friend. Whether expected or unexpected a loss is always difficult. It is so nice of you to show your support to his family. I'm sure Jack's wife will be glad to see you and your DH. Hopefully you can convince her to come to their vacation cottage. It will be very difficult for her but thankfully she has friends like you.

Cathy-great job with BC this morning. Don't you feel so accomplished when your done? You should!! I know I did. I have more of the same to do also, pay bills, laundry, clean house etc. The story about your uncle was very touching. It makes you really appreciate the time we have with our families.

Wendy-Congratulations on the new PR!! That's great. Wow, I had no idea that you live a couple blocks from the beach. That sounds very cool. Our first house was in a not so nice area but it was what we could afford also. We lived there for 10 years and made a 60K profit when we sold it. That 60K allowed us to purchase a much larger, nicer home in nicer community. We also really needed better schooling for our kids which was one of the main reasons we were moving. The way things are now you are able to stay home with Joey and that's what is important.

Laura-So tell us, how much dough did you come home with??? Hope you are having a wonderful time!

Diana

Evening girls

I'm so glad I finally got downstairs to do KenpoX and ARX. It really made me feel better. The housework, not so much. *lol* I HAD to get the laundry and dishes done and clear off the countertop. It's done and even though there's much more that can be done, I'm calling it good until my next day off, which better be Tuesday. I got myself pretty much caught up at work, so I'm hoping to only have to go in 2 days next week, cause I got lots to do here.x(

Wendy - Thanks again for the kind words. It's gonna be a long day but both DH and I FEEL the need to be there. The last time DH talked to Jack a couple of weeks ago, he told DH his mushroom spot. Mushroom hunters just don't do that. They never give up their spots! So, I'm thinking Jack "knew" his time was almost up. It's so strange to think of him not being here anymore.
Enjoy your family time of the boardwalk. I'm sure Joey will have fond memories of those visits when he gets older.
So when you decide to move, where would you and DH like to move to?

Cathy - I can't complain about dinner plan B. Pizza and CABs is always a good mix.:9
Definitely keep an eye on that bite. I sure hope it doesn't get infected.
Are you going to do your long run tomorrow morning? Are the feet feeling OK?

Diana - I'll join you on the terrible eats. Pizza and CABs and ice cream today are probably not exactly considered clean eh? But, I don't care today either. It was all I could do to get that w/o in, let alone care about food. I know, bad attitude. I'll clean it back up on Monday.
Great idea about getting MIL to help with the food. I'm gonna have to do that too when/if(?) the boys graduate. My mom and MIL are both wonderful cooks too. I'm sure the party will be great!
Thanks also for the kind words. It is much appreciated.

You girls have all been so supportive. Thanks so much!!! It's almost as if I can feel the hugs. You all are so very sweet.
I probably won't be able to check in until late tomorrow night if at all since I'll be on the road so you girls all have a wonderfully relaxing Sunday!;-)

Nighty night
