Buff Badgers Week of November 12

I had a great weekend. Friday was most of CrossFire. My legs turned to jelly about midway through, and I ended up skipping around and only doing abotu half of the rest. Saturday was a run. A really bad run. My legs just didn't want to go. By Sunday I realized I probably needed a rest day, like a real one, since I hadn't taken one since September.

Sunday we also took DS to Trainfest at State Fair Park, and finished the painting we've been doing on the main floor.

I'm going to continue being gentle today -- I'll probably just do and Ellen Barrett workout or the Exhale Core Fusion one I haven't tried yet.

Have a great day!

Happy Monday!!

The weekend was busy. Got some outside stuff cleaned up on Sunday. Not as much as I wanted but it'll still be there until next time I get out there.

Saturday was Cardio SuperSets and the Bonus Step. Today I did High Reps. Haven't found a rotation to do. Might put my own together since I have to be careful with what I do (stupid leg).

I bought a foam roller over the weekend and gave it a try. It really smarted when I was using it on my leg but it felt better after I was done. I'm going to keep at it.

Sam - Yeah you got your painting done. Sounds like your body was telling you it needed rest. Glad you listened to it. ;) Did DS have fun at Trainfest?

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Hi,

Today I did Rip 60 The Peak TRX and Urban Rebounding Extreme Amy Bento Kickbox. Didn't get any workouts in over the weekend.

Sam, sounds like you do need a break. It is weird how sometimes the legs just don't cooperate when you want to run. Nice you finished all your painting.

Brenda, I forgot what happened to your leg? Hope you find a good rotation. I hope the foam roller works for you. It sure hurts doesn't it?

Have a great day.

Sam----I didn't realize that you run also. Is this new or did I just miss something?

I enjoyed the long weekend. Got caught up on some housework without having to rush. I made some shredded pork in the crock pot yesterday. I love the sweet flavor---but my DH like the vinegar flavor so he adds some to his. I cook it in a can of beer too and it is quite tasty.

This morning was the step portion of Intensity followed by Lower Body Trisets.

Good Morning,

Did Peak 10 Cardio/Strength 2 and P90X stretch.

heartymax, glald you had a relaxing weekend. Pulled pork sounds good. I like your workout this am. I will try that combo. soon.

Have a great day.

Thought about running outside today but just couldn't bear the thought of how cold it is. I have warm enough stuff but getting started is a problem for me in the winter. sometimes I wouldn't mind a treadmill.

Good Afternoon!!

This morning I felt like punishing myself and I did Cardio Core Circuit followed with 100 jumping jacks and 50 high jogs. I wanted a cardio that was going to kick my butt and CCC usually does.

Karen - I put Michelle's Peak 10 workouts on my Christmas wish list. ;) I'm not sure exactly how I injured my leg but my left hip flexor is swollen and it travels down my inner thigh and if I move my leg the wrong way (whatever that way may be, it changes all the time), I get a stabbing pain in my hip. I'm suspecting something is hitting a nerve when that happens. I've being doing ice and heat, lots of stretching and know the foam roller, which hurts at the time but feels better afterwards.

Heartymax - Glad you had a nice weekend. That pulled pork does sound good.

Make it a great day!

Good afternoon!

I ended up taking another rest day yesterday. Today I did Ellen Barrett's Yogini workout. I really like it. I always think it's going to be easy, and it's not super hard or anything, but I always break a sweat and feel "worked" when it's done.

Heartymax- Yum. I made pork in the crock pot this weekend too, but it was Wisconsin style: chops and kraut ;) Yep, the running is new. I finally sprung for a good pair of shoes and they make a huge difference.

Karen- Yeah. Stupid legs. I tried to go at about 1 in the afternoon, which is my low-energy time of day, probably not a good idea. I seem to feel the best around dinnertime. I was thinking of joining one of those super-cheap gyms just for the winter so I'd have access to a treadmill. I prefer running in cold weather to warm, but when it's hovering around 0 I don't think I'll be up for it. My brother runs on the track at the Petit Center; I suppose I could try that too.

Brenda- I rented CCC through Kineticflix once and never got past the preview stage. Too much dread for my taste. Are you getting excited about XTrain? It looks like we might have them by Christmas!

Have a great day, everyone!

Sam---I wish I was brave enough to take on running. I will live through my friends. DH did ask me to start running with him a while back but I told him that I just don't have the endurance for running.

Brenda---sure hope your hip flexor gets better. Maybe the foam roller will help. You are such a champion---you manage to workout through it all.

Karen--so you are a P90x fan? I don't own it but have heard different opinions about it.

This mornings workout was Upper Body Only (premix that includes back) from High Reps. Cathe sure named that workout correctly. My muscles are screaming on those last reps.

Good Morning,

Today I ran 5.5 miles.

Heartymax, I don't like P90X. I have had it forever and used the first part, not even and a couple of people said the stretch dvd was good so I thought since I had it I would try it. I didn't like it. I think I pulled a muscle using it.
Hi Reps, especially those triceps is killer.

Sam, don't you love workouts that still are challenging without killing you. About your low time is my high. I do well in the afternoon it's just it's always to busy at that point so I end up doing it at other times. Sounds like you have a lot of options for running.

Brenda, you are a high intensity person. CCC is a fun workout. I like the music. Sounds like that hurts. You managed to do CCC with the pain. Wow! I love the Peak 10 workouts. They are fun, no dread factor and they work. I did them a lot last spring.

Today is early release for the kiddos.

Have a great day.

Hello!!

This morning was Athlectic Training. Haven't done that one in a while and I really like it. Had a pretty workout.

Sam - That is too funny about not getting past the preview of CCC. There definitely is a dread factor. I usually look forward to when I can lay down and do core work. :) I'm getting very excited about XTrain and also about getting the 2013 Cathe calendar.

Heartymax - I'm with you on the running. I'll live through my friends. I used to jog but I didn't really enjoy it and my knees didn't like it too much either. Thanks for saying I'm a champion ;) I know my DH doesn't think so, he things I'm crazy for continuing the workouts. Oh well. :)

Enjoy the rest of the day!!

Morning Ladies,

So sorry I have not been online all week, just way to crazy at work and home. :( I worked out yesterday, but don't know what I did with my lower back. :( Must have done something during DrillMax, so I took a few days off. Yesterday I received my shipment of Peak Fit. :) I did the Fit Test for that yesteday, and my lower back didn't hurt during the workout. This morning it is a little sore. So now I'm contimplating doing these PeakFit workouts instead of the Cathe rotation that I had planned. Tell the truth I wasn't really all that into the Cathe stuff. It was ok, and I was having some fun with it, but I'm having a hard time seeing myself doing them. :( So I think Peak Fit is for me until I decide that they are not it. I hate when I get into these type of rotation funks. :p

Karen, Today is the first time I have been online since Thursday of last week, do you have the Peak Fit set? Sounds like you are really mixing things up with different workouts.

Sam, My DH was at Trainfest on Sunday also. He has always wanted to make the displays, but then says what do you do with it afterward. But those things are always so cool.

Brenda, Hope that foam roller helps with the leg issue, it sure can't hurt to try it out. ;)

heartymax, Shreaded pork is on my want to do list for a dinner, and of course using the crock pot is such a help. I always try to stear my meals around what it on sale at the stores. I have been hoping for some pork to start, have not seen anything yet. I got a lot of housework done this weekend also. Feels good to have a clean house.

Have a wonderful day!

Good morning! Last night I went for a run. I was going to do my usual 1.5 miles, but I felt so good at the 3/4 mark that I decided to go 2. I should have stuck with 1.5. The side stitches kicked in and I felt pretty terrible for the last mile.

I just finished Exhale Core Fusion Pure Intensity Cardio (say that ten times fast). It was hard! And I've established that I have a very, very weak core, which is probably the reason for my side stitches.

I'm a little bummed about the workouts this morning

Laurie- I could feel myself getting into a funk doing Gym Styles once a week so I decided to take a break for awhile. I'm very curious about how you like the Peak Fit workouts. They've had me interested in them for a long time.

Brenda- I didn't order the calendar :( It's just not in the budget this month. I sorta blew all my personal cash on those running shoes  You'll have to tell me if we're in it :) Who knows, maybe I'll convince DH to get it for me this evening.

Heartymax- My legs and my heart seem to have the endurance for running, but my abs do not. Who knew abs played such an important role in running? At least it's making me focus on abs for once.

Karen- I completely crash every day from about 1-3. When I was teaching it was all I could do to get through my classes after lunch :) Interesting that you didn't like P90X. I always feel weird that I've never done it because as soon as I tell someone I do workout videos, the first thing they say is, "like P90X???"

Have a great day!

Good Morning,

Today I did Horizontal Conditioning HC April, stretchmax with the band and the band segment of BBL.

Laurie, glad your back is feeling a bit better this morning. I have Peak Fit and love it. She mixes in a lot of kickboxing moves into all her workouts so that will be a plus for you. As you can tell I have no rotation whatsoever. I am just winging it.

Brenda, I don't even think I have done Athletic Training. For as long as I have had it you would think I would have. I think I will check out the clip and see if I remember it.

Sam, we must have posted at the same time. Sorry your run wasn't as good as it would have been if you would have stopped at the shorter distance. Good job on working your core. It's bound to get stronger. I guess the things we work on the least are the things we should be working on. Stretching for me comes to mind. I think people always say P90X because it is on tv all the time and so many celebs are doing it. Who knows. I think Laurie and Susan really liked it.

Have a great day.

Good Afternoon!

This morning I did Athletic Step followed by 100 jacks, 50 ski hops, 100 jacks, 50 high jogs, and 40 air jumps. I like Athletic Step but my heart rate doesn't seem to get up there until the third combo, hence the add ons. ;)

Karen - We were posting at the same time yesterday and I missed you. I am a high intensity person. Probably not the wisest at times but I love feeling like I got my butt kicked. :D I personally would recommend Athletic Training.

Sam - Those gosh darn side stitches. Hang in there. Hopefully over time they'll get better. Today is the last day for ordering the calendar so I hope your DH buys it for you. ;) If not, I'll definitely let you know if we're in there. :)

Laurie - Sorry to hear about your back. That stinks. Glad its feeling a little better. Foam roller seems to be helping so I'm going to keep at it.

Well, I must get back to work.

Enjoy the rest of your day!
Brenda

Sam-- wow! Never thought about how the abs get a workout when you run. Good for you for sticking with your budget. That shows discipline. I didn't order a calendar either for the same reason. I don't think it's cost effective to have to pay shipping on top of that---so it encourages you to buy more stuff to get free shipping which I don't need to do either. Just can't splurge right now. I have my eye on HOrizontal Conditioning for next year.

I went to bed early last night --was so tired. Getting ready to get on elliptical this morning. Have a great weekend everyone!!

Good Morning,

Today I am spinning to my beloved Cardio Coach 7.

Heartymax, you will love HOCO.

Brenda, nice workout. Glad you love cardio. It's fun.

Have a great weekend.

Morning Ladies,

Yesterday was Peak Fit Pure Cardio! Now that is a workout, and I actually liked it. There is some kickboxing mixed with hi/lo type moves. I usually don't enjoy hi/lo, but this wasn't horrid. ;) Today is my off day, even though I have been off some of this week. :D I just don't have enough time to get in a workout with having to leave for dd's dance class right when I get home. Back is very slightly sore, so I think it is getting better.

Sam, Don't be bummed about your workouts, it appears to me that you did a great job with them. ;) I was surprised that I enjoyed the Pure Cardio even though it had hi/lo. I'm such a klutz, that some of it was frustrating. But the moves got better for me, because she does go over it a couple of times. Felt really accomplished when I was able to get the move. :D I jumped on Peak Fit, because it was way cheaper than when it first came out. I'm going to put the two newer workouts that she did after this set, on my Christmas List.

Karen, Michelle sure does move fast on some of her kb moves, but I was able to pick up the moves pretty quickly. I had sweat running into my eyes by the end. Dang did that hurt. :D The Pure Cardio does remind me of Insanity, but a lot more fun. At least for me it had the same intensity. I like the workouts that you are winging though. :D

Brenda, I love how you get in those extra moves in. ;) Suppose to be a fairly nice weekend, do you have some great plans?

heartymax, You have a great weekend also! I have a hard time resisting some of these systems.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Good morning and Happy Friday!

I did a two mile run/walk this morning. I just walked a block or two every time I felt the beginnings of a side stitch. I think I'm going to give Couch to 5K a try. The very beginning might be a bit too easy for me, but I think starting at week three or four will be okay. My body is obviously telling me that I need to work up to running for an extended period of time. It's just frustrating, since I fancied myself rather fit :p

I'm also using My Fitness Pal to log food and workouts. I need to be vigilant this time of year, and I'd like to actually lose a few pounds.

Laurie- Sounds like fun! I think Peak Fit would be on my Christmas list too. However, my family is not doing much of anything for gifts this year, and DH and I have decided not to exchange at all. All we really want for Christmas is a new couch :D, and the rest of my family has had some financial setbacks. I will keep it on my radar though. I previewed all the video clips about a million times when it first came out :)

Brenda- I completely forgot about the calendar until I was lying in bed last night, well past midnight. Oops. If there's a page with Chicago RT pictures you might have to photocopy them and send them to me

Heartymax- Yup, it was the shipping that stopped me. We're really trying to be careful with money. DH has the new job he interviewed for way back in May on the horizon, but we don't know exactly when that will be happening. So, with me not working we've had to tighten our belts a bit.

Karen- I think I'd like to try P90X some time. I'm especially curious about the yoga, but all the focus on push ups and pull-ups kind of turns me off.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Happy Friday!!

This morning I decided to go with Power Hour. I felt really fatigued this morning. Sinuses are bothering me. :( It got through it. Lightened up where I needed to.

Heartymax - I always make sure I save some money for the calendar. I like hanging it in my workout are for motivation and I log all my workouts on it.

Karen - I miss doing Cardio Coach. Our elliptical is buried in a different area in the basement and I can't even use it right now. Won't be able to until our basement is finished. I really liked Coach Sean.

Laurie - I have Peak on the Christmas List. I'm hoping I get some of the workouts. :) No big plans this weekend besides trying to get stuff done around the house and hoping that the weather is fairly decent so I can continue cleaning up my outside stuff before it gets too cold.

Sam - You are fit.;) I consider myself fit too and I suck at running. :) IMO, running affects your body differently than do the other cardio we do. I'll definitely let you know if there are any Chicago RT pictures in the 2013 calendar.

Everyone have a wonderful weekend!!

Take Care!
Brenda
