Buff Badgers Week of May 7th

Brenda - I sent you a PM. Too many weirdos on the internet. Buff Badgers excluded :) but I don't know who else might be reading this.

I WISH I had Cathe's tower - especially for the pullups/chinups. We have a very small house and there's just no room. It's a bi-level so our lower level is living area - not a true basement like most houses.

Today was Slow and Heavy Chest and Back. I did 3 sets of push ups (10,10,15) in place of the last three sets of chest flys on the incline. My chest was already fried so I am surprised I was able to do those.

Sorry---I am rushing this morning. will check back in later.

Good morning. I did Step Blast yesterday afternoon. DS woke up from his nap about midway through, so it was a bit chopped up, but I managed to finish it. I'm also rushing a bit this morning, and will check in later after I get in a workout. Probably PLB.

Have a great day!

Morning Ladies,

Well the PS series is making me sore! Love it! Last night I did Legs & Abs, I could feel my legs working through the whole workout. This morning I did PS Back, Biceps & Abs. Probably not getting in a workout tonight, since dd has dance class. If I do it will be a short cardio workout.

Sue, If you do every plan on getting the tower, Walmart has it for a lot less than what Cathe sells it for. You can have it sent to your store for pick-up. Track is already finished for the JV next week, she has her conference meet on Monday. I would imagine that your school will be there also.;)

Brenda, Didn't realize that lavendar was like catnip! Criss Cross Cardio is a really old CIA workout that is instructed by Sherri Jacquelyn. I don't do it to often, but I really had fun with it so maybe it will be pulled out more often. I still need to get out and tackle the weeds, just not motivated with this cool weather. I'm like a lizzard, need the sun and heat. :D

heartymax, Push Up Queen! :D Totally awsome.

Sam, Have fun with PLB, I'm sure it will leave you with DOMS!

Have a great day!

Did 30 MTF Cardio Blast Step workout this morning. I had a bad night sleeping - tossing and turning over DD. Someone even said to me this morning "Sue, you look stressed out!" I'm trying really, really hard not to give in to a binge though. Lost 2 pounds this past week. Still have a long way to go. I'm going to take tomorrow afternoon off to chill. I'll do my leg workout, some extra stretching, maybe go for a walk if it's nice out.

Laurie - I will keep that in mind about the Tower. I'm still working on DH for an elliptical. That in itself will take up space we don't have but I want DD to start exercising. She doesn't need to lose weight or anything - just thought it would help with her issues. Yep, DS will be at the Meet on Monday and missing his first day of classroom Drivers Ed. He just turned 15 last month but thought I'd get it out of the way before football camps start. Yay! for DOMS.

Sam - I used to workout when the kids were small with 1 ear tuned in to waking babies. I swear there's a part during the warmup of Imax where it sounds like a baby crying (or maybe it's my imagination). Here's a tip for PLB. I don't know if you'll have the issue I do of not enough time to change weights on the barbell but I use plate weights and my 10 pound vest and it goes much quicker.

Heartymax - Once my chest is fried there is NO WAY I can do pushups. You are very strong.

Hi, Brenda! (probably posting about the same time)

Hi, Susan!

Have a great day!

Good Afternoon Ladies!!

Today was a cardio day and I pulled out one of Cathe's oldies.... Power Max. Gosh, I remember the day when doing this workout on 6" step was hard. The last few times I've done it I did it on a 8" step and had a really good workout.

Sue - I'll check out your PM. Yep, I know what you mean. Have to be careful with what you put on the internet. Hopefully someday you can get a tower.

Heartymax - way to go on the push-ups!!

Sam - have fun with PLB. Hope you like it as much as PUB.

Laurie - I love it when I get a good sore from my workouts. What type of dance classes does your DD take.

Enjoy the rest of your day!!
Brenda

Hi Sue,

Yep, posting at the same time again.

If you feel the urge to binge, go outside and go for your walk. You'll be happier with yourself if you don't binge. I know once in a while that is easier said then done.

Great job on losing the 2 pounds.. keep up the good work!

Brenda

Hello again. I was planning on doing PLB, but when I went to pick up DS from the sitter's, he was under a blankie on her couch with a fever :( She didn't want to call me because I was going to be there in an hour anyway. He didn't want his lunch and slept all the way home. I put him right to bed, but I wanted to absolutely sure I would hear him during a workout if he cried, which means no equipment so I could workout in the living room.

Which meant.... Turbo Barre. I just finished the Lower Body Express Premix. Good grief that's hard. I should make myself do it once a week so I can build up the endurance for it. It would probably make me a better runner. I did get interrupted at one point when DS woke up from a fever dream. I'm trying to ignore my own headache and slightly "off" stomach  It's all in my head, right?

Sue- I know EXACTLY what you're talking about in Imax2! I've paused it many times during that warmup. Too funny that someone else has had the same thought :D My barbell takes forever to change. I was thinking of just using my dumbbells. I have PowerBlock dumbbells that go up to 50 pounds. I don't have a weighted vest (yet).

Brenda- Well, I tried the grits. They all crowded next to the house, but they're still there. My upper body is definitely fried. I felt it pretty much just in my biceps yesterday, but today I can feel it all through my chest, shoulders, and back.

Hello Laurie, Susan, and Heartymax! I'd keep writing, but I hear a sick kid talking upstairs again.

I forgot to post this morning! I did my total body strength routine. It was fun and tiring! My legs are very sore right now so I plan on doing extra stretching so I can run int he morning!

Sue, I totally get the binge thing. I too tend to do that when stressed. I have to really try and stay out of the kitchen! Congrats on the 2 pounds down!:)

Sam, hope your lil' guy feels better soon. My DD was home with a fever and sore throat from school. DS said his throat was sore when he got home!

Brenda, I love Power Max. It's one of the best "oldies"!

Laurie, I love that sore feeling, until I have to do cardio! Then the legs just don't want to go as far or fast as I want them too!

Sleep well, ladies! Susan

Sam---Turbo Barre is awesome. I have only used it a few times but it a great workout.

Brenda---I can't imagine using an 8 inch step at all....then again I have it used it for Cardio and Weights in order to get my heart rate up. I didn't find it as intense as the others. But, I don't use that workout anymore.

Sue---I love my ellitpical and DH is getting great use out of it. He is using it 5 to 6 days a week.

Susan---hope your DOMS are settled down so you can take that run this morning.

Today was 45 minutes on the elliptical followed by the ab section of Butts and Gutts.

My DS14 has a middle school track meet today. This is his first time and middle school just have one meet and compete against other schools in the county. DH is going to try to make part of it. DS hasn't been playing much sports lately and we encouraged him to do this.

Have a great weekend everyone. Happy Mother's Day!

Hi! Well, I wish I could say I had a great run... but I overslept by 45mn! DS was up during the night with his sickness. then DD's alarm went off at 3:30am! She is dead asleep and the sound is just blaring. When I checked ,it was not supposed to go off until 6:00! Very weird... Anyway, I will be going for a walk and doing some pilates after work. Taking an active rest day. Saturday I will run, hopefully 5 miles. Sunday should be upper body weight work.

Heartymax, I hope your DS has a great time today! So glad you and DH are enjoying the elliptical!:)

Have a great weekend and HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!:D

~ Susan

Morning Ladies,

This morning I did PS Chest, Shoulders & Triceps and I added on the punching combos from Cardio Kicks and CTX Kickboxing. Those two came to about 11.5 min., and I used weighted gloves for that. Actually was a lot of fun. :D

Sue, I think you have a good idea with your dd, exercise will help a lot. I know that my oldest benifits from being active. ;) Plus you are starting her on a better path than what we probably started on. ;) Keep up the good work, and I'm sure that you can defeat the need to binge! I used my tower this morning for the bb chest presses. Sure makes those a lot easier on the shoulders.

Brenda, Oh yes that is an oldie! Which one has the Moda tops? :D My dd has two days of dance, and she does adv ballet, modern and point. The dance studio offers tap, but that is one form that she has never been interested in. They have their recital next week, and her point duet is going to be really pretty.

Sam, So sorry to hear that your ds is sick, seems that when they are young they always seem to be that way. ;) Yes that sickness is in your head.... Take care of that little one, and of course yourself.

Susan, Dang on not getting in your run, but your body must have needed the rest. ;) You will probably have a better run with the active rest, and upper body work. I need to add is some more stretching, that is something that I should do on Saturday. I never want to wake up on Saturday morning and do cardio or weights. :(

heartymax, I'm a big advocate of track. :D It is a wonderful sport for kids to see improvement. Our middle school was the same way, but I think that they had about four home meets. Tough ab workout! ;)

Have a wonderful day and Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Friday, everyone! What a beautiful, beautiful day. DS is much better. He certainly bounces back from illnesses quickly. Today was our Presidential Fitness Day at school. I watched in awe as one of my quiet, skinny little 9-year-old girls banged out 16 chin-ups like it was nothing.

I haven't worked out yet, and I'm paralyzed by indecision over what to do. I'm looking forward to doing 6 a.m. workouts once school ends. Right now I'm forcing myself to workout when my energy is at its lowest all day. I'm thinking the combos only from LowMax, or Low Impact Challenge without the blast at the end.

Laurie- I was thinking of doing CTX Kickbox but my biceps are still fried. Of course, if I were you I'd do it anyway, and with weighted gloves ;)

Brenda- I like Cathe's oldies, especially Step Jam. I don't own them, have only rented them through Kineticflix, but I'd like to eventually buy them. I like it when Cathe says things like, "Looks hot!" It cracks me up.

Heartymax- I too, am a big advocate of track and cross country. I never did either, but I saw how both of those sports completely transformed my brother's self-esteem and earned him his first true friends. The camaraderie you see amongst those kids is a joy.

Susan- Enjoy your active rest day. I have a sneaking suspicion that about 50% of my work days would be your active rest days :D I envy your energy.

Hi Sue!

Have a great weekend, everyone! DH has a really nice day planned for me tomorrow so I can give all my attention to my mom on Sunday. I'm making a pretty pink lemonade cake that was on the cover of Better Homes and Gardens recently. Wish me luck!

Happy Mother's Day!

Sam----the cake sounds yummy! I am sure it will be pretty too.

My son won 1st place in the 100 meter. He was so excited. His dad was there so it was a great day for both of them. You are all right---it is such a great feeling to kids when they find something they are good at doing and enjoy doing it and are able to get recognized. Most of his friends are in sports and do many things that they are talented in. He is still searching for that I believe. Not that I think this is it---but it definitely a good thing for him right now. My son is very popular at school, but sports is an area that he is not that strong but he enjoys playing for fun. This was a great moment for him.

Heartymax, Congratulations to your son! What a wonderful thing for you all to see! That is just awesome!:D
