Buff Badgers Week of May 28th

Cathlete
Happy Memorial Day Ladies!!

I hope everyone is enjoying the extended weekend.

Saturday I had my cardio day and I did Cardio Coach Press Play. Had an excellent workout. Since Coach Sean's passing everytime I listen to CCPP, there are some things he says in there that truely make you wonder if he was crying out for help.

Saturday since the weather did not cooperate, I couldn't get my garden started with all the rain. I cleaned my parents house, ran into town and picked up some tomatoe and pepper plants for the garden and a couple more herbs. Then when I came back home, I started cleaning my own house. Got some of it done but need to finish it hopefully today.

Sunday morning did not start off very good. We live out in the country and my DH had burnt some stuff in a kind of wet land area. In that same spot we have a huge pile of grass clippings. Away from the grass clippings he burnt this stuff early Saturday morning and checked it by the end of the day and everything seemed fine, we had gotten more rain, we thought all was good... not so much... about 2am the wind picked up, woke us up and DH went to close the bedroom window and looked outside and we had a big fire down in the brush pile. We were afraid with the winds it was going to get out of control. So we whipped on some clothes and shoes and went running out there trying to stomp out the fire. After an hour we managed to get it under control but unfortunately during the process, my DH got some hot coals in his shoe and he has a really bad burn on the top of his foot. Need to keep an eye on it and if it doesn't start looking any better he's going to the doctor whether he likes it or not. Got back in the house at 3am and then showered since we stunk like smoke and our feet were all black from the smoke. Then tried to relax and fall back asleep. It took a while but we both mananged but then I woke up again at 5am and couldn't fall back asleep. Kept dreaming about the fire. I did start my garden yesterday. We had to do some work for someone else so we did that and shortly after noon we decided it was time to call it quits and go to the local picnic and listen to some music and try and have some fun instead of working all the time. We had a nice time.

This morning I started up again with the X-Factor Week 5. I had the pleasure of doing one legged burpees with a push up. Man those are hard. Week 5 definitely got tougher. I still added on the Bonus Step portion from LIS series. Today my goal is to get the rest of my garden planted.

Everyone enjoy the weather before the storms come through this afternoon.

Make it a great day!!
Brenda

Brenda----wow, that fire sounds pretty scary. I wouldn't have been able to sleep afterwards either. Keep an eye on your husbands foot and like you said----make him go to the doctor.

The temps have been in the high 80s all weekend. It was hot and humid on Saturday but a little better yesterday as we got a lot of breeze in the afternoon. Yesterday was my cousins graduation cookout for daughter. It was fun and nice day. They had the cookout earlier so it wouldn't have to compete with all the others and so her friends could come and hang out with her instead of being at their own cookout or family gathering after the graduation.

I was behind on my workouts since I ended up taking 2 days off last week so I had a lot of catching up to do. Saturday was M2W2 back and biceps and 30 minutes on the ellipitical for a 90 minute workout. Sunday was M2W2 Legs. My quads are so sore this morning but I was able to do 45 minutes on the elliptical. Working out after an STS leg workout has been hard for me because I am always so sore. I was determined to push through that this morning. It has been a while since my quads hurt-----usually my hamstrings get a kicking.

I hope everyone had a nice Memorial Day weekend.

I was dragging this morning and did not want to get out of bed for my morning workout. Thankful DH called me a slacker before he headed out to work. Just enough to motivate my behind to get out of bed!! M2W3 Chest, Shoulders and Triceps. I wanted to do some planks afterwards but my shoulders were so exhausted already until i could barely hold he plank.

My quads are still kicking today. I am trying to figure this out. I think I tried to focus on going deeper with my squats. Something woke up the quads

DH has lost 15 pounds since he started working out 8 weeks ago. I am so proud of him. He wants to lose another 5 and then he plans to start doing some strength training which I have been trying to get him to do all alone. Anyway---I am just happy he is working out so I am letting him do it his way.

Morning Ladies,

Friday I did manage to get No More Trouble Zones done. Saturday morning I got in Weider X-Factor Week 4, and KCM's TLC Boxing before the youngest and I left for the cabin. We had a great time with the family, and then we headed back on Monday. The traffic was horrible from the Dells to Madison! Love that people from IL spend tons of money in WI while they vacation in our state, but they clogg up the freeways really good. I was really happy to head toward Milwaukee. I can't imagine how long it took those cars to get to the IL border from Madison.

I didn't work out yesterday or this morning, just to tired from driving. But plan on getting in workouts tonight after work. Plans are PS Back, Biceps, Chest, Shoulders & Triceps, and then hoping to do some cardio afterwards.

Brenda, Very scarry experience with the fire, and I hope that your DH's foot is going to be ok. Good thing that you are keeping a eye on it, infection in burns can be bad. ;) Glad that you had a chance to enjoy the day. Interesting observation about Coach Shawn, will have to listen the next time I am doing those workouts. I know that his sister said he had suffered from depression for many years. :(

heartymax, It really is annoying to have those workouts on the schedule and not done. I always have to make up the workout at some point. :D I was the slacker this morning, just was way to tired. I'm going to make up for it after work though, since youngest has a track party after school. Congrats to your DH on the weight loss! And congrats on working those quads so good.

Have a great day!

Good morning! I had... um, one workout over the long weekend  I'm still staying away from weights because of my shoulder, but yesterday I did the all step premix from Cardio Fusion. I think it's the first workout in a couple of weeks that felt really great.

It's the last week of school! It's going to be a crazy one. My class is going to Apple Holler today, Wednesday and Thursday are just clean-up, fun stuff days, and Friday they have a half day with a kickball tournament (and cake and ice cream).

DH has a job interview in Chicago on Thursday. He's taking the train down, and since we only have one car I have to drop him off bright and early before I go to work. He's very excited. It's for a Milwaukee branch of the Chicago company, and it may pay enough for him to stop worrying about the business he was starting earlier this year. I think he's realized that business ownership includes a lot of headaches he's not interested in handling. DH changes his mind about work a lot :p

Brenda- I'm so glad you're okay! What a scary experience. Make sure your DH gets to a doctor if that burn starts to look bad.

Laurie- Sounds like you had a nice weekend. That stretch of traffic is always terrible during summer weekends.

Heartymax- Yay for your DH! When my DH lost his weight he suddenly became very interested in his wardrobe, so watch out :p Shopping with him became a chore. I wish I could get him into strength training. He just has no interest.

Shopping was great! We didn't get home until after nine at night. I got all the basics I needed for a summer wardrobe, some fun stuff at Ikea, and researched what kind of furniture I want when we re-do our living room.

Have a great day!

Brenda - Sounds like a horrible night fighting a fire, DH getting hurt and not being able to sleep! I'm glad you were able to relax at your picnic for a little while. I give you a lot of credit for doing 1 legged burpees but to be honest, if the new Cathe workouts have burpees or mountain climbers in them I'm not buying them. I may change my mind later on, but I'd really like to see some new, fun moves.

Heartymax - I wanted to be a Slacker this morning, too. Hard to get back into the routine after a long weekend. Your DH is doing a great job!

Laurie - I think we need a special toll booth just for Illinois drivers! I have no doubt you will make up for your "slackerness" tonight. ;)

Sam - I'm glad my DH didn't get wind of you going to IKEA - he would have asked to tag along! He LOVES IKEA. Good thing it's not too close or he'd shop there all the time. Sounds like a fun week of school. Enjoy! Good luck to DH on his job interview.

I had a very good weekend. It was restful, eating was good and did some good workouts. DD's marching band was in a parade yesterday and was just miserable. It was hot and exhausting for her. At least we parents enjoy it. Here's how my weekend went:

Friday - Prevention Fight Cellulite Fast
Saturday - STS Disc 9 Legs
Sunday - Couch to 5K Week 1 Day 1 30 min. + 2 mile walk
Monday - STS Disc 10 Chest, Shoulders, Biceps + crunches, planks on my own
Tuesday - Couch to 5K Week 1 Day 2 30 min.

Downloaded a Couch to 5K program on my iPhone. It starts out slow with 5 min. walk to warmup, intervals or running for 1 min. then walking for 90 sec. repeat several times and 5 min. cooldown walk. It's kind of easy but it's been awhile since I've tried jogging outside.

Have a great day!

Good Afternoon Ladies!

Yeah... yesterday I got my garden in. I still have a small section that I'm going to be putting some herbs but that's not as big of a deal. If everything vegetates, I'm going to have more veggies than I know what to do with. Might be doing lots of freezing.. that's okay too. Less I have to buy in the grocery store. My knees were so sore last night by the time I got done. Started out at 3am and didn't stop to rest until 6pm... I was pooped.

This morning was cardio and I did 4DS Kickbox and Bootcamp cardio premix. I love the 4DS Kickbox workout. Knees felt much better this morning, thank goodness.

Heartymax - good job on working those quads extra hard. Congrats to DH on his weight loss. My DH complains about his weight but still chooses not to do anything about it. I help out where I can by cooking healthy but what he eats away from home I can't do anything about that. I figure when he's ready to commit to doing something, he will.

Laurie - glad you made it back home safe and sound.

Sam - last week of school... YEAH!!!! I bet the kids are so happy. Glad you had fun on your shopping trip.

Back to the grind stone.

Make it a great day!!
Brenda

Hi Sue,

We were posting at the same time again.

Glad you had a good weekend overall. Great job on all the workouts. One of the new moves in the new workouts is supposed to be jacks with the resistance band. Sam and I did those at the Road Trip. I liked them. I hate those one legged burpees.

DH foot must be hurtin pretty bad. He just emailed me for the docs phone #. I'm glad he's going in because he leaves for Michigan on Sunday morning.

Have a great afternoon!!
Brenda

HI ladies! Sorry for the late post. The weekend up north was a lot of fun but I was very lazy! I slept in every day, and never did get my runs in, but I did take Ruby for 2-3 walks a day 20-30 mns each time. However, my eating habits were thrown out the window! Thankfully I got back on track today.

Woke up and did Cathe's Bootcamp. I have not done it in a very long time and it was fun! :D

Busy week again as we are going to be out of town this coming weekend for my nieces HS graduation party.

Brenda, I do hope DH's foot is okay! How scary having to deal with a fire like that. I too, would not have been able to sleep.

Sue, that sounds like an excellent idea to start with Couch to 5K. Very smart! You got in some good workouts too so looks like you are on a roll!:D

Sam, happy to hear you had fun shopping!:) I wish your DH good luck on his interview! Enjoy your last week of school. DS heads to Milwaukee for his class trip tomorrow. Going to Milwaukee Stadium and a museum.

Laurie, I hate traffic as well. We hit a spot up north that was bumper to bumper. I just closed my eyes and slept through it!

Have a good night! In case I don't check in early enough tomorrow, I wil be running 4 miles and ab work!:)

Take care~ Susan

Susan---resting on a trip is well deserved. This is a busy time of year with all the graduations. It is wonderful to see the joy in the eyes of families.

Brenda---fresh veggies sounds so yummy. My brother in law usually plants a few things..I must say he had some of the best squash the other year.

Sue---you got in some great workouts. Disc 9 would have had me taking a rest day. That one has the reputation for putting you down.

Sam---Good luck to your DH on his interview. DH sends me out to do the shopping so I don't have the pleasure of him accompanying me. He knows that I will eventually get tired of him wearing clothes that are too big.

Laurie--glad you had fun with your family at the cabin. What kind of fun stuff do you all do up there.

Today was 45 minutes on the elliptical. I did 30 minutes of fatburn interval level 5 and dropped down to level 1 for the last 15 minutes.

I am back but I am grumpy! Did not hear my alar m this morning and overslept until DH's alarm went off 45mn later! My alarm volume was way down low, barely audible. Yesterday I woke up before my alarm so I didn't notice it... Anyway, I only got to go for a very brisk walk with Ruby so far and will do something this evening.

Heartymax, you are doing great on the elliptical!:) I was gpoing to get on mine today, but I want to run in the morning so we'll see...

Have a great day ladies! Susan

Morning Ladies,

Was able to get in PS Back, Biceps, Chest, Shoulders & Triceps last night, and right after I was done with that my dd called and said that the track party was finished. So no more workouts after that. Best thing of all... DD earned her varsity letter, so that is 5 years in a row that someone in our family earned varsity! She was very happy.

This morning was 10lb Slimdown Xtreme Lower Body, and I'm going to be doing PS Legs & Abs after work.

Sam, Good luck to your DH on the job interview! Have a great last week of school also, I'm sure that it will be bittersweet for you this year. ;) I have to go shopping this week, don't have a swim suit yet. Sounds like your shopping was a good one.

Sue, Great workouts! I have the downloads for the Couch to 5K also, and it is a wonderful way to get into running. I don't know why I stopped. :( I'm sure that it was hot for you dd in the parade. :( LOL about the toll for IL drivers, they are used to them are they not?

Brenda, Hope your DH was able to get his foot looked at. Always nice to have those extra veggies in the freezer. We used to spend our whole summer canning veggies in our family. I can snip beans and get the dill pickles ready pretty good. :D Not a fan of one legged burpees either.

Susan, I also enjoyed my time up north doing nothing. ;) I have Bootcamp on my schedule, and I have not done that one in a while either. My eating went out the window also, my Mom is the desert queen! :D I had to sample everthing didn't I?

heartymax, Nice workout this morning. ;) Most of the time I was talking with the family. :D I got in some reading also. The weather was so nice that my brother got out the boat, and the kids where able to do some water skiing.

Have a wonderful day!

Brenda - Jacks with a resistance band sound interesting. At least it's something new. How is DH's foot?

Laurie - Awesome news about your DD earning a Varsity letter! Well-deserved.

Susan - I tend to get grumpy when I am forced to miss workouts, too. Hope the rest of the day goes better.

Heartymax - I'll bet it's the paper plate work at the end in Disc 9 that gets to people. I have to admit that my gliders were not gliding well on the puzzle mats and I was too lazy to pull them up and use the carpet underneath so I kind of did my own thing. I couldn't go up or down stairs for 3 days afterward so I don't feel guilty about cheating on those last couple exercises.

Did Jillian 6 Week 6 Pack Level 1 workout last night and Leslie 30 min. Walk and Kick. Feeling a little bit beat up today so it's a good day to take a rest. For some reason my lats are sore from my chest, shoulders, biceps workout on Monday. I think it's because I was really struggling with the last few reps of overhead presses and probably recruited some back muscles.

Okay, someone explain to me how I can gain 3 pounds in 3 days when I've carefully tracked every calorie and according to my program I use to track everything should have a deficit of approx. 2000 calories? Not TTOTM but I am a little plugged up (sorry if that's TMI). I drank a lot of water last night to help move things along so maybe that's partially to blame. Last weekend I went up 2 pounds on Saturday and then down 5 the next day for a net loss of 3. What's with that? I'm not weighing every day (every 3 days or so) so should I still see such wild fluctuations? It's crazy.

Good Afternoon Ladies!!

Not much to report on the workout side of things. Today was X-Factor Wk 5 and LIS Bonus Step portion Still very much dislike the one legged burpees but I dredge through them.

DH did breakdown and went to the doctor yesterday, which was a good thing because it was starting to get infected. Doc put him on antibiotics and prescribed a topical creme. Swelling was down this morning. Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon so it doesn't get worse.

Susan - I'm glad that you had a great time upnorth. Once in a while you need those lazy days. I'd be grumpy too if I overslept. Hopefully you can get your workout in later.

Heartymax - you are on a roll with the elliptical. I should do it more often as it so much easier on my joints.

Laurie - Congrats to you DD for earning her first varsity letter. She must have been excited.

Hi Sam!
Hi Sue!

Enjoy the rest of your afternoon!
Brenda

Hi Sue,

Yes, you will see a fluctuation on the scale if you are plugged up. Between water and the other issue, you'll easy see the scale move 2 or 3 lbs. I wouldn't stress about it too much though. Keep your eating and workouts on track like you have been and it will all work itself out (maybe that wasn't the best choice of words).

Brenda

Thanks, Brenda! I'm trying real hard not to get discouraged and give up (yet again). I'll keep plugging away (ha ha - pun intended) and see what happens in a few days.

Laurie----sounds like your family had a blast. Waterskiing looks like fun----I have never done it though.

Brenda---I purchased my elliptical in February. It had been years since I used one but I was interested in trying something different at home when my treadmill broke. It was tough to get through a workout at first, but I have no problems with it now. I agree--it is much friendlier on the joints. I need to give my body a break from the high impact at least once a week.

susan---hope today's run helps you kick out the grumpiness from yesterday:D

Sam---Today is the big day for your DH. Hope everything goes well.

This morning was M2W3 Back and Biceps. I decided to move Legs to the Saturday so my rest day will follow.

Good morning, ladies!

It's rapidly turning into an unintentional rest week for me. What with all the last-minute grading, field trips, and trips to the train station, I've just been running around like crazy, and too pooped to work out when I finally stop (I do not possess the incredible energy that many of you do ;))

Sue- I weigh myself daily and I can't believe how much my weight fluctuates. Sometimes there's 3 or 4 pounds difference from one day to the next. Sometimes when you really kick it up your body likes to hang on to water, too. Whenever I up my weightlifting at all I get a temporary puffiness and weight gain. Anyway, don't be discouraged! Just keep doing the right things, and your body will eventually figure out what's going on :p

Heartymax- Thanks for remembering my DH :) I just dropped him off at the train station. He looked so very handsome in his suit.

Brenda- Can I pretty please have some of your energy? :D I would love to have a garden like that, and then have a freezer full of organic veggies all winter. Sigh... maybe someday when I move to the burbs :) Glad your DH had his foot looked at.

Laurie- Congrats to your DD! I don't have a swimsuit either. I hate swimsuit shopping. A lot. I keep thinking I'm going to feel sad about school ending at some point. So far, not so much... :D

Susan- Aw... sorry you overslept. That's so annoying when you really want to work out. I hope you were able to get soemthing in later.

Have a great day, everyone. I'm not promising any workouts ;)

Morning Ladies,

Got in the PS Leg workout last night, and this morning was KCM's 30MTF Kickboxing Workout #2 w/Abs. Tonight is 30MTF Weights Biceps, Triceps & Shoulders, will probably add in some cardio also since this workout is only 30 min.

Sue, Just keep the water flowing and you should be fine in a couple of days. Eating differently will cause that problem. ;) Will be curious to know if the discs Mindy sells work better on those puzzle mats. I have some carpet in the basement, but it would be nice if they worked on those mats.

Brenda, Glad to hear that your DH went to the Doc, those infections in burns can be dangerous. ;) Yes my dd was very excited, she was hiding the letter until I asked to see her JV patch! :D

heartymax, Glad you moved the leg day to Saturday. I remember the last STS rotation your legs where tired during the week afterward. Hope the Satruday works better for you.

Sam, If you had seen me last night, you would have wondered where all my energy really was! I was asleep before 8pm! Guess the weekend was catching up to me. After this week it should be less hectic.

Have a great day!

Good Afternoon!

One day on antibiotics and DH foot is starting to look better. Still hurts like a son of a gun when I help him put his sock on but at least it's headed in the right direction.

This morning I decided to put in Intensity.... it kicked my butt. I have to ask the question, does anyone else have problems having a runny nose while working out. I do have sinus problems so I know that doesn't help. I'm always so stuffed up when I get up in the morning. With all the kleenex I go through in the morning, I should really take stock on the stuff.

Heartymax - I need to start going back to doing the elliptical once a week too to give my body a break from the high impact. Smart idea on moving legs to Saturday before a rest day.

Sam - My DH asks me that all the time, wondering where I get my energy from. Not quite sure. Man you have lots going on though. Once things calm down for you that you can get back into the workouts just think how great it will feel to get back at it.

Laurie - I hope things calm down for you after this week.

Sue - I'm sure we're probably posting at the same time again. I hope your battle with the scale is better today. I'm like Sam, I weigh myself everyday just to keep myself in check. Depending upon what I eat and stuff, I can usually tell when the scale is going to be up. It's amazing that it can move up and down easily 2-3 lbs in one day. Drink a glass of water and you'll probably gain 1/2 lb.

Hi Susan!

Enjoy the rest of your afternoon!
Brenda
