Buff Badgers Week of May 14th

I hope everyone had a great Mother's Day. DH cooked breakfast. We watched Joel Esteen which I loved and then went to church. Restaurants are usually very crowded so we usually cook dinner at home. This year we decided to get carryout to make things easier. Then, I took a nap.

Thanks Susan and Sam for the congrats to my son on his track meet. He was very excited.

Sam----my kids have 4 more weeks of school and we can't wait. This has been the longest year ever.

I did STS total body on Saturday. I am all done with Upper Body Bliss rotation and I really liked how it alternating GS and Slow and Heavy to avoid too much boredom. I have decided to do Meso 2 for the next 4 weeks and then I will probably do two weeks of total body workouts that should take me into vacation. This morning was Chest, Shoulders and Triceps. I hate chest flys so I did push ups instead for those sets.

Good morning!

Friday I did CTX All Step, just the cardio. No other workouts over the weekend. I was way too busy being pampered or doing the pampering :)

Saturday DH made me breakfast sandwiches, took me shopping, got us sushi takeout for lunch and made me one of my favorite soups for dinner. I basically did nothing but lay around all day.

Yesterday we were hosting for Mother's Day, so I had a ton of cleaning, cooking, and baking to do. My cake turned out well, and I made vegetarian enchiladas, which my whole family loved, but I think were a bit spicy for my MIL. Oh well.

Tonight I have to "work" at McDonald's with my school faculty for awhile. We get 20% of the money McDonald's brings in while we're there. Pretty cool. So, I'm taking DS and DH with me. I'll try to squeeze in some sort of workout between everything.

Heartymax- Your Mother's Day sounds a lot like mine. I'm glad you could relax. Love that you got a nap :)

Have a great day, everyone!

Morning Ladies,

Had a very busy weekend, but Mother's Day was very nice since I had both of my girls there. ;) Had a really nice time with DH's family, but dang I had to cook! I made my potato salad, since that is something that the girls wanted. My oldest even wanted me to write down how I make it. It is a recipe that my Mom taught me to make, and her Dad taught her. DD said, Oh I know how to make the dressing, just tell me how long you cook the potatoes and eggs. :D :D

Anyway yesterday was PS Legs & Abs, and this morning was PS Back, Biceps & Abs. Otherwise I was outdoors for a large part of the day yesterday. It was such a perfect day yesterday, and we must have had every window open in the house. Felt good to get the air flowing.

Heartymax, Congrats to your DS on his win! My youngest is like that, not athletic, and she is doing a very good job at track. Like I said it is a sport that they see improvement. The coaches keep track of their times, so they let them know when they get a personal record. I will be watching my youngest tonight run a 400m and 4x400. ;) Sounds like a solid rotation that you have going.

Sam, Should have known that we would be posting at the same time. Your Saturday sounds like you had a great time. My DH grilled. :D

Have a wonderful day!

Friday was STS Disc 3 Legs. Oh, my! My butt was sore on Saturday. I did 2 miles from Leslie's 5 Day Fit Walk plus my usual Saturday house cleaning and that was enough for me. Yesterday was STS Disc 4 Chest, Shoulders, Biceps. Lots of pushups in this one. Had to drop to my knees by the end. This morning was Janis Saffell Kickbox Strike Zone. I need to work on the flexibility in my hips. Can't do round house and hook kicks like I used to.

DH bought me roses after church (they were selling in the lobby). We went out for brunch and I had a steak and mushroom omelet. Yummy! DS is trying to gain weight for football so he had my toast and most of my breakfast potatoes. Had a good weekend eating despite a few treats here and there. I'm using an App on my phone to track calories and it helps keep me accountable.

Brenda - I keep thinking about what you told me last week about not binging and how I won't feel good if I do. I keep re-playing that in my head when the urge hits. It helps. Thanks for that. :D

Laurie - Have you heard of the "Fat 4x4"? DS was explaining that the throwers (who are usually big boys like DS) run the 4x400. (I think that's right anyway.) DS really enjoyed Track so kind of sad to see the season come to an end. Good luck to your DD tonight!

Heartymax - Glad you enjoyed your Mother's Day. Congrats to your DS! How wonderful for him.

Sam - Sounds like a nice weekend of spoiling you had. Well deserved I might add.

Hi there! Beautiful weekend! Saturday was a 6 mile run (55mn) and Sunday was my upper body strength and a 40mn walk. Today was Jillian's Banish Fat Boost Metabolism.

Saturday I spent all day cleaning, doing yard work, running errands so that Sunday I could be very lazy, which I was!:D It was a nice day, sat outside reading my book, took a nap, had some wine. DH made me steaks on the grill for supper.. nice and relaxing. My friend and I decided we want Mother's Day like every 3 months or so!:D

Glad to hear you all had nice weekends as well! Have a great night and see you tomorrow!

Susan

Good Evening Ladies!!

Sorry I've been AOL for the last three days. Friday was so nice outside I decided to sit outside and eat my lunch. Friday PM didn't have a chance to get on the computer. Friday was my last day of week 3 X-Factor and again added the Bonus step from LIS. Saturday was my cardio day and I felt like doing Cardio Fusion. I really like that workout. Saturday and Sunday were very busy. After my Sat AM grocery shopping, I cleaned mom & dad's house, then met DH for a quick lunch and then we went down to No No's in Newburg to do some landscaping. I got all her plants in the ground did the trimming in the park and before I knew it the day was over with. Sunday we ran into town to get some mulch so we could finish the landscaping down by No No's before they opened for Mother's Day. Then we went over by DH parents to visit for a while for mother's day and by my parents we had a cook out. I made brats and everyone else brought a something. In between that I did the trimming in our yard. We have 7 acres so that's a fair amound of ground to cover. I had an major run in with my 20 year old nephew that lives with my parents on Saturday morning. The kid needs to get his head screwed on straight and do something with his life. If I told you the entire story, this posting would be extremely long.

Today was week 4 of the X-Factor. New set of exercises. They do this roll back and come up to your feet and jump in the air. That exercise made me realize my abs are not as strong as I thought. I added on the bonus step portion from LIS again.

Sounds like everyone had a really nice mother's day.

Heartymax - Congrats to your DS, that is awesome!! Good choice on Meso 2. I'm having the urge for STS.

Sam - no luck getting rid of the ants yet. Did you get the link I sent to your email. Glad your DS bounced back from not feeling well. How did things go at McDonald's?

Laurie - the weather was so beautiful yesterday. I wanted to spend as much time as possible outside.

Sue - Glad I could help. There are times I need to listen to my own words of advice though.

I'm really pooped out from the weekend and am hoping to get to bed a little earlier tonight. I've had a headache all day and I just want to crawl in bed and go to sleep.

Have a great night!!
Brenda

Looks like everyone had a great weekend and enjoyed the beautiful weather.

Brenda---do you have STS?? I love it. I see it was Cathe's deal and several people grabbed it up. That roll back come to your feet and jump in the air sounds like one of the moves in CCC that I "avoided" this morning. ;)

Susan---I vote for Mother's Day every 3 months too.

Sue---STS Legs is so great. Those sliding discs can really get in there. They will find muscles that you didn't know you had.:D

Sam--I used to chair the spirit night committee for our PTO. Did for two years so I have organized and worked many of those events. The percentage to the organization is usually pretty good. I don't like selling stuff---but I will go out to get dinner for my family.

Laurie---glad both your girls made it to gathering.

This mornings workout was Cardio Core Circuit. I finally dusted it off and tried it again. I made it through but it is definitely one tough workout. I am thankful for all the core modifcations.

Hello! This morning was CTX Kickbox(cardio only) followed by my lower body strength training. This was more quad focused since my hammys are still stinging from last week!:p

Took my measurements today since I am 2 weeks into this rotation - I was pleasantly surprised to see my hips down 1/2 inch and my waist down a 1/4. I have only lost 2 pounds but am half way to my goals I set!:D

Brenda: I hope you had a good rest last night. Hopefully that headache was gone when you woke up.

Heartymax: sounds like a tough workout! Core work can be very underestimating. You think it won't be that bad but boy can it be tough!

Have a good day ladies! DD has her Spring choir concert so that should be fun! The girl loves to sing!

Susan

Good morning. No workout for me yesterday. TTOM came out of nowhere and I spend what would've been my workout time on the internet  I feel fine today, and plan to do something.

The McDonald's thing was actually a lot of fun. It was very, very crowded with people from our congregation. Lots of people bought food and then would also buy $50 gift cards to help us bring in a little more. Pretty nice.

Brenda- Wow! You had a busy weekend! I got your email, but haven't opened up the link yet. I think DH and I are going to tackle them this weekend. I'll let you know how it goes.

Susan- WTG on lost inches and pounds! You must feel pretty good about your homespun rotation! I'm looking forward to getting really focused when summer is here.

Sue- Sounds like you had a pleasent Mother's Day, too. I really want to try a lot of these apps I hear about all the time. We still have "dumb phones" and haven't been able to take advantage of any of them. I keep hearing good things about the eating/fitness ones.

Heartymax- I don't know if I'll ever buy CCC. It looks like one of those that I'd have to force myself to do. I was very tempted by the STS deal yesterday, but I keep telling myself to wait till it's in the budget.

Laurie- Ooooo... I L.O.V.E. potato salad with eggs. Seriously. It's one of my very favorite foods of all time. If you've got a good recipe I may have to ask for it.

Have a great day everyone, it's another beauty!

Morning Ladies,

This morning I took out a workout that I have had for years, but don't do often. 10 Min. Solutions Kickbox Bootcamp with Keli Roberts, and I had a ton of fun with it. I think when I first did this workout it was hard (lack of endurance), and I didn't want to do it again. :D I loved how she incorporated Kickboxing and drills.

Things have changed on the track front for my yountest. She came in first in her 400m with a time of 64.5! Shaved off two seconds from her last race. The coach told her at the end of the meet that she isn't done with practice, she will be running in the regional meet on Monday. So very proud of how well she has done this season. It was her oldest sister that suggested to the coach that Kim would probably be a good 400 runner. :D Her 400 relay team came in second, so they where happy about that one also.

Sue, Sounds like a very nice Sunday for you. WTG on those workouts! I have seen the big guys and girls run those races, just didn't know that is what they called them. :D DD was ahead of two Arrowhead girls, it was wonderful to see. :D I need to do the tracking also, it just has helped me stay on the straigh and narrow.

Susan, I was going to do BFBM this morning, but was a little tired so changed my mind. Sounds like a nice Sunday for you also. I totally agree with you on the quarterly Mother's Day!

Brenda, Oh yes the roll-up! The first time I saw that move was in P90X, and Tony called it the Dreya Roll. I still have a hard time with that move. Just reading what you did this weekend made me tired! You seemed to be on the move for the whole time. Totally understand why you feel tired. ;)

heartymax, I had to really take the dust off the workout I did this morning. CCC has a lot of dread for me! I will try that one out again, but have to be in the right frame of mind. ;)

Have a wonderful day!

Sam, ;) Glad to hear that your McDonald's day was a good one. My recipe is all in my head, it is one of those that you throw in some of this, some of that. It is a mustard based dressing, I will have to try at some point to write it all down. I sent some of it with my oldest, and she had dinner with her bf. He ate most of the potato salad himself. :D

Have a great day!

Good Afternoon ladies!

Wanted to post real quick and then go outside and eat my lunch.

This morning was my cardio day and I went the Cardio Coach 7 on the elliptical. Haven't been on the elliptical in a while and my lower back had been bothering me a little so I thought this would be a safe route to go. Had a great workout!

Heartymax - yes I do have STS. I've done it at least three times already. It's been a whie and I love that workout. CCC.... that workout kicks my butt. I avoid that exercise too in that workout. I do the jacks instead.

Susan - congrats on your progress. Celebrate the small successes.

Sam - Glad you are feeling better. Also glad to hear things went really well at McD's. That is great that people were so giving.

Laurie - I like that when I bring out an old workout that you haven't done in a while and realize it's better than you remembered. I love kickbox and bootcamp workouts! Kudos to your DD for doing so well with her running. That is awesome!!

Well off to heat up my lunch and enjoy the beautiful weather.

Brenda

No workout yet today. Officially it's my rest day but I did take it kind of easy on Saturday with cardio by only doing Leslie for 2 miles so I will try to do something tonight if time permits.

DS finished 2nd in discus with a new PR of 96.6! His 4xFAT relay team (all football linemen) finished 4th but really it should have been 3rd because 1 of the teams didn't checkin so should have been DQ.

Brenda - I can't do Dreya rolls at all on the floor. I cheat and use my 4" step with a towel on top for cushion.

Laurie - That is so awesome that your DD is going to Regionals! (And beating those Arrowhead girls!) Good thinking by her older sister for suggesting the 400. Oh, and I had it wrong yesterday - they run 4x100, not 4x400.

Sam - My phone app is pretty cool. If I eat something packaged with a bar code (bad I know but I can't make everything from scratch), I can scan the bar code and enter it into my food diary. Much quicker than trying to search and find the exact Lean Cuisine I'm eating that day. Great idea people had with buying $50 gift cards at McD's.

Susan - Congrats on your success!

Heartymax - STS Legs found those muscles all right! I think it was the barre type work at the very end that did me in though.

Have a great day everyone!

Today was M2W1 legs. I hate those side sliding lunges with the disc. I got a hate/love relationship with the slide back lunges with the disc.

Sue---congrats to your DS. What a bummer that they didn't DQ the other team. Suprised and most sports events have such strict rules that they enforce.

Brenda---sounds like we have done STS about the same number of times. I don't own any cardio coach but have heard such great things about it.

Laurie--congrats to your DD. I love it when older siblings give great advice and offer encouragement. It reminds us that they are capable of doing more than the sibling fights:eek:---

Sam----Trust me----CCC has so much dread factor. If I had to do it over again, I would not buy it either. Like many people, I get excited about all of Cathe's workouts and discover that there are a few that I am just not that fond of.

Susan--a decline in hip and waist measurements is every woman's dream. WTG!!! I wish I was as dedicated as you are about taking measurements/pictures. It really lets you see/understand the results more. I just look in the mirror, try on a pair of jeans/shorts and say---hey this fit better.:D

Have a great day.

Good morning! I was really tempted to not work out yesterday, but I put on my big girl pants and did Afterburn. And, predictably, I'm feeling the "afterburn" today in all the usual places-- hamstings, glutes, lower back, and abs. By the time I was halfway through I was smiling. The more I do that workout the more I love it.

Laurie- Ah, one of those recipes, huh ;) Totally understandable. That's like mine and my mom's pie crust. I think the recipe actually came from somewhere, but we've fiddled with it so much, and at this point, it's too hard to describe it to someone else.

Heartymax- You having dread for CCC convinces me completely that I will not be owning it. Unless my workout personality completely changes over the years :) I know Travel Fit was one I was excited about owning, but I just didn't like it much and ended up trading it.

Sue- Yes! That's the cool feature one of my friends was talking about on Facebook. Very cool.

Brenda- Is it hard to do those Cardio Coach workouts after Sean's death? So sad. I never did any of his workouts, and I hear they're great.

Hi Susan!

I'm not sure yet what to do today. I do think that despite my desire to do more weightlifting, I'm going to wait until the school year's over to really focus on it. It's hard to eat well this time of year, so I need lots of cardio, otherwise I get puffy. "Real" weights will have to wait until June. Until then it's cardio and circuits.

Have a great day, everyone!

Morning Ladies,

This morning was Weider X-Factor Week 8, and 10lb Slimdown Recovery Core. Nice combo, and I would like to get in PS Chest, Shoulders & Triceps after work today.

When I picked up youngest yesterday, she was very unhappy. She told the coach that she had her dance rehearsal on Thursday, and they have this fund raising meet that they need to work at. He told her that if she didn't work this meet then she couldn't run in Regionals. So DH called the coach, and he was under the impression that she couldn't work the meet at all. Got it all straight, and she is able to do the fund raiser, her rehearsal and run at the regional meet. Guess it is best when parents do the working out instead of the child, they tend to not give all information necessary. ;)

Brenda, Oh I miss my CC, my treadmill has been broken for a long time. :( Glad that you had an enjoyable workout. The weather has been so wonderful, can totally understand why you would want to eat your lunch outdoors. ;)

Sue, Congrats to your DS! One thing I really like about track is that the kids can improve. ;) The 4x100 is way more doable for those big guys, my dd is practically dead at the end of her 400's.

heartymax, I don't like any of those sliding exercises. :p I did that "hey it fits better" when I put on a pair of capris! :D Last year they where way tighter. Having the oldest away from home is much better for the sibling relationship. ;)

Sam, LOL about feeling the Afterburn! Glad that you made the decision to do the workout. Doing circuit workouts is a great idea. They get both the cardio and weights all in one.

Have a wonderful day!

Heartymax - Maybe I'm not going deep enough in those side sliding lunges because I don't think they're too bad. Definitely a move you can cheat in and I'm not past cheating if I think my body is pushing the limits. Did you order the new Cathes that she's filming this week? For the first time in 12 years, I may miss out on a pre-order (excluding STS which I pre-ordered and then cancelled). I've found that I just don't reach for my newer Cathes that much. So many of them blur together for me, too. It seems like everything is a circuit with cardio and weights these days.

Sam - Afterburn is quite a workout to do when you don't feel like working out. Good job.

Laurie - I'm glad you got it all straightened out with DD's coach. That would have been a shame if she was forced to miss regionals because of a misunderstanding.

Last night I did Slide and Glide Express cardio. I really want to like this one more. Maybe if I bought Mindy's discs and used those instead. I'm constantly looking down at my feet because they get off-center. It seems to be the design should have included a strap for the top of the disc to keep the foot in place. After that I did a little Afterburn but wasn't feeling it so I did Leslie 1 Mile Jog. This morning was STS Disc 5 Back and Triceps.

DD has a band concert and awards tonight. Busy night again.

Good Afternoon Ladies!

This morning was X-Factor Week 4 and LIS Bonus Step. Still did the dreaded rolls. Did the best I could. The last few times when I did the bonus step in the one where she does the step up with weights from a curl into a shoulder press and back into a lunge, since I've been missing my weights, I bumped that up to using 10 lbs instead of the 8 and that little bit makes a difference in that exercise.

Still dealing with friction with my nephew that lives with my parents. He has no respect of anyone and doesn't care that he or his buddies wake us up in the middle of the night with their noisey trucks and misbehaving. This was the major run in on Saturday morning. Bad thing is I'm trying to keep peace in family and my DH has had enough. This has gotten to the point where it has put a strain on us. I'm certain we'll get through it but not sure how ugly it's going to get before something changes.

Sue - Congrats to your DS!! I'm sure feels great when she see's the improvements.

Heartymax - I know what you mean about the love/hate relationship with those slide back lunges. Any of the lunges using the discs aren't the most pleasant. We do them anyway.

Sam - Gotta love that Afterburn. That is definitely one of my favs. It's kind of weird doing cardio coach since Sean passed. I love the workouts so I keep doing them.

Laurie - I'm half way through X-Factor. Glad that things worked out for your DD. I don't have all the CC's. I have 5,6,7,8 and Press Play, which I love!!

Everyone have a great afternoon!!
Brenda

Hi ladies! This morning I was not going to go for a run but thankfully I did not listen to that voice and I went out for a 4 miler. It felt good but right now my legs are sore. Need to do more stretching!

Laurie, sometimes it is best if we parent intervene - even if the kids sometimes don't want us too. Happy it all worked out!

Sue, enjoy your concert.

Brenda, that stuff with your nephew really stinks. Nothing like an ungrateful young man to tic you off! Especially when they do not seem to listen... Best of luck in dealing with him.

HAve a good night ladies! Susan

Morning Ladies,

Last night I did PS Chest, Shoulders & Triceps, and this morning was PS Strong Legs & Abs.

Sue, Do Mindy's disks have straps? Then they would be great for keeping them in place. ;) How was the concert? I'm sure it was really fun, and the kids did great.

Brenda, WTG on upping those weights to get the workout that you needed. ;) So sorry to hear about the friction in the family, that is really to bad that this young man doesn't seem to understand good manners. ;) I don't have the press play of CC, but have heard many good things about it. I could always do those cc workouts, and do different exercises.

Susan, Sometimes those workouts that you don't feel like doing turn out to be the best. Our oldest was one of those that didn't want us to intervene. I'm glad that we handled it the way we did. DH was just going to send an e-mail, and I told him we needed to call.

Have a great day!
