Buff Badgers Week of March 18th

Hope everyone had a great St. Patrick's Day weekend! On Saturday, I did HC volume 1. I like volume 2 better. My barbell has a cushion on it so I removed all the weights and used it on the step in place of the body bar. I used a dumbbell to put on my foot for those moves. I volunteered to help with a school competition on Saturday so I was there for half the day. Then I had to take DS14 to volunteer orientation at the humane society. This is what he really wanted to do so that took up the rest of the day. He goes for his first volunteer hours on Friday so we will see how it goes.

Went to a Sunday brunch for my cousin's(on DH side of the family) 50th birthday. It was at Maggiano's---so good food, games and laughter. I good not choose desserts so I had a little bit of all 3--apple crostada (soooo good), cheese cake and the host sent us home with birthday cake and I ate it on the ride home . It was a great party and I got to meet some of her friends and see some that I hadn't seen in years.

This morning was Super Cuts. Those darn fast paced sit ups and push ups are just way too fast for me. I can do about 4 sets. Maybe I should just pause the tv and do them at my own pace and tune Cathe out:D

Happy Monday Funday!

Saturday I tried HC Bootcamp.... OMG!! It last 1hr 7 min and I couldn't do all of it. I skipped the last two circuits. I did the majority of it with longer breaks. My abs felt it, my inner thighs, my back. I think I felt muscles in my stomach I didn't know I had. :) Definitely have to keep doing some it at least to build up my core strength. Sunday was a rest day. Today I went back to the XTrain rotation I was doing before I had surgery. I had Burn Sets Bi's & Tri's and instead of doing Cathe's core work I put in HC Vol 2 and did the warm up and then the first circuit. While they were doing the leg work I did jumping jacks. I have legs tomorrow so I wanted to leave them alone. Weights felt heavy after not lifting for 2 weeks. I still managed to do the first two sets of the bi's at 20's and dropped to 15's on the TF sets. I have a feeling they'll be talking to me tomorrow. That's okay.

Talked to DH last night and they are enjoying themselves snowmobiling in Michigan. He said the trails are awesome.

Heartymax - Part of the reason I didn't get HC Vol 1 was because of the body bar. I was somewhat basing it off of what equipment that I had. Now it doesn't bother me that I didn't get vol1 since you said you prefer 2. :) Sounds like you had a fun and busy weekend.

Who else is getting snow? It's been snowing by me all morning. Yuck!! :(

Enjoy the rest of your day!
Brenda

Good morning. I had a good weekend. We completely cleared out our extra room. We were trying to use it as a playroom/craftroom, but it had just become a junk room  So, we're turning it into an office/guest room (even though we never have overnight guests... you never know). So that means I get to pick out paint! Yay!

Last night we went to my parents' for corned beef and cabbage. And (eek) soda bread. Yum. I refused to take any home :D

I did not workout on Saturday. DH joined me for the Gym Styles Back, Shoulders, and Biceps Timesaver yesterday. I just finished Imax 2 for today's workout.

Heartymax- Apple crostada. Yum, that sounds fantastic. I don't use the body bar for most of volume one. I just sort of improvise/turn my step the other way, use a dumbell, whatever. I actually have a body bar, but it feels awkward to me. I agree that I like volume two better.

Brenda- Yeah, I try not to say never, but I don't think HC Bootcamp is in my near future. I've got HC on the docket again tomorrow.

My grandpa is doing very badly. I'm going to try to stop by with DS today. He's still clear during the day and I'd like to see him while that's still the case. Every day is a blessing.

Have a great day, everyone! Try to ignore the snow :p

Hi,

On Sat. I did something but don't remember what. Sun. I didn't work out as I came down with a nasty cold and my head is killing me. Today I made it through HoCo2 and then did Bi's and Tri's from Xtrain.

Sam, what color paint are you thinking of? Sounds like a good meal at your parent's house. Does your DH do workouts with you often? Sorry your grandpa is still not doing well.

Brenda, nice job on the workouts. I can't believe you tackled Bootcamp, but then again you are our cardio junkie. That workout has a dread factor for me but love the rest of her workouts. Glad your DH is having a good time snowmobiling. We are getting snow here also. It is blowing and drifting and quite cold.

heartymax you had a busy weekend. How are you liking the HoCo workouts so far? Do you like Sandra. What do you use Supercuts for, cardio?

Laurie, hope you are feeling better.

Have a good day all.

Karen---I'm not sure what Super Cuts should be. Not enough cardio and weights are light. It doesn't seem like a circuit either. What do you think?

Brenda---welcome to HC!! What a brave woman you are to start with Bootcamp. I want to get that one. I heard its the hardest. Tell your ab muscles hello because I know they are talking to you today.

Just finished CrossFire, no Tabata premix with the core.

Good Afternoon!

This morning was supposed to the legs dvd but I went with cardio leg blast instead and skipped the last round because I wanted to get in rear delts.

Sam - We have a spare bedroom that is supposed to be a guest room but has become a dumping ground. Won't be able to clean up much until our basement is done because some of the stuff we had down there had to come upstairs to get it out of the way. How was it working out with DH? I think I'd fall over if my DH said he'd workout with me. :) Sorry your grandpa isn't doing any better, still sending prayers and well wishes your way.

Karen - I can't believe I tackled HC Bootcamp either. What was I thinking. :) DH is coming home today from snowmobiling. They drove 304 miles yesterday. That's a long time to be on a snowmobile.

Heartymax - I don't know that I'd call myself brave, maybe a little insane for starting with BC. Definitely have a lot to improve on. I don't know what I'd consider SuperCuts either. In XTrain rotation she puts it after a cardio day at the end of the week. I do like that workout though.

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Think Spring!! :D

Hello Ladies,

Yes I'm still kicking, and feeling much better. I do have anemia. Have to take a couple of Iron pills a day, so that I can get those red blood cells restored. :D Have not been working out, because of being a little to dizzy. The shortness of breath is also gone, but I am still getting an echo done. I'm going to take the rest of this week off, and then start up with weight work on Saturday. ;)

heartymax, What a great place for your DS to volunteer at. Does he like animals alot?

Brenda, I'm done with this weather, can't believe that it is so dang cold outside.

Sam, I'm hoping your grandfather is doing ok.

Karen, Sounds like everyone is busy doing those HC workouts. :D

Have a great day!

Hello

Today I did Peak Fit Cardio Interval --her first one. Coughing up a storm so not my best workouts. Probably not the best workout to choose either. I did Circuit Blast on Sat. that was the one I forgot. That is a lot like Supercuts. Not sure how to classify it. I guess that is why I added a tri set burn set to the end of it.

Laurie, glad they found out what some of the problem is. Hope the rest of your problems get figured out soon and the echo comes back good. You are smart to take a rest.

Brenda, again you opted for a more cardio based workout. You go!! That is a long time to spend on a snowmobile. He must like it a lot.

heartymax, crossfire is so versatile isn't it? I really love the music in that workout.

Hi Sam.

Have a great day. I don't like our 4 inches of blowing and drifting snow. Yuk!!! Where are you spring. It is really cold and windy--even suppose to be colder tomorrow.:(

Laurie---glad you are feeling better. DS loves dogs. He's never really been around cats so that will be new.

Karen---I am now convinced that I need one or two more HC. Love the way my abs feel--- did I say that??

This morning was HC volume 2. Slept in later so no time for added cardio. I went with the two risers again but looked at the modifier when needed.

Good morning. No workout for me yesterday. My mom and I finally took our little day trip to Ikea. I was going to do Trisets Lower Body, so I think I'll add it on to Trisets Upper tomorrow.

Today I have either Step Blast or Tabatacise on the schedule. I'll probably decided when I go down there :)

Grandpa's still not doing well. He says just horrible things to my sweet grandma when he's confused. Something else is going to have to be done, probably someone to come over to their house at night, because no one is getting any sleep, and my grandma and aunt (who also lives there) aren't exactly in perfect health themselves. My mom's birthday is Friday and she doesn't even want to celebrate. I feel so sorry for her and everyone else, but there's not much I can do.

Laurie- I'm glad you're back! Sorry to hear about the anemia. At least that's pretty easily treatable, I think. I was anemic when I was pregnant. I didn't mind taking the iron, but I'm horrible at remembering to take pills  Hopefully you'll get good news after your echo, too.

Karen- Every once and awhile I convince DH to do a video with me. He usually admits he enjoyed it and got a good workout, but I can't get him to make a habit of it. This was his first Cathe strength video. He's done Afterburn and 4DS Kickbox with me before.

Brenda- It was fun! I had to convince him; he doesn't do these things voluntarily :D He has a slightly renewed interest in weightlifting because his body composition has already changed quite a bit with the paleo diet. He goes for a brisk walk or run every morning with the dog, and walks to work. He stays slim, but he needs some muscle :)

Heartymax- I haven't even mastered the HCs I have but I, too, have already considered getting more!

DS and I are hanging out and cleaning today. I want the stuff I got at Ikea yesterday to have a home in a nice, clean house. Have a great day!

Happy First Day of Spring!!

Would never thing it was with snow on the ground and our cold temps.

This morning was All Out Low Impact HiiT. Added some HC Vol2 on the end but while I was giving my abs a break I did jacks. I feel like my shoulders give out before my abs do once in a while. I don't know what it is with the plank works but man does is burn in my shoulders (delt area). Hopefully if I keep at it, I build up the endurance in my shoulders and abs. Not giving up on it. I really like it because its tough and you know me, I seem to opt for the tough stuff.

Laurie - Welcome back. Glad to hear you are gradually starting to feel better. Long time coming.

Karen - I haven't done Circuit Blast too many times. Between that one and SuperCuts, I prefer Supercuts. Hope your cold gets better. DH admitted that 304 miles was a litte excessive. Normally he likes to do around 200. The 304 was not planned. :) He loves snowmobiling. He's hoping to go to Canada next winter with our neighbor on a snowmobiling trip.

Heartymax - How are you liking HC?

Sam - That's a tough situation for you mom, grandma, and aunt. All you can do is be there for them for support. That's too bad that your mom doesn't even want to celebrate her b-day due to all that is going on. :( I like the Trisets workouts.

Everyone stay warm!!

Take Care!
Brenda

Good Afternoon,

Today I did Born to Move. Tough workout for my legs and cardio wise too.

Brenda, my shoulders give out before my abs also. That seems to be my weak link. It sure doesn't seem like spring.

Sam, I feel bad for your mom, not wanting to celebrate her birthday because of all the problems with her family. Sometimes don't you wish you could do something? What workout did you end up doing? Nice you and your mom got to take your little trip.

heartymax, nice job on your HC. Are you seeing any difference in your abs yet? I saw it after a couple weeks doing it 3 times a week. You definitely need more. She has such a variety. The ball ones are hard, I tend to not reach for them very much. I love the gliders so those are the ones I tend to pick up the most.

Hi Laurie

Have a great rest of the day. I hope it warms up soon.

Good morning. I never got around to my workout yesterday. I was so bummed after talking to my mom and never quite shook out of my funk.

I feel better today, and my mom, though tired and not sure what to do, sounded better today on the phone. My workout plan for the week was kind of scrapped, so I did Supercuts because I wanted a little of everything. It felt really good. I went light the last time I did it, but this time I used Cathe's weights and it felt more challenging for my upper body.

Question: Do any of you have a juicer? I'm thinking of getting one after talking to my brother-in-law over the weekend. He was waxing poetic about juicing, and I must confess, I'd like to try it now :)

Karen- Wow. I keep reading on the VF boards about how difficult Born to Move is. I have Tonique 2, Mat, and Cardio Mat, but I hardly ever reach for them. I really should. I think Sylwia is so sweet.

Brenda- I feel HC in my shoulders a lot, too. But in my case my shoulders are MUCH stronger than my core. I'm usually so focused on keeping my low back from taking over that I don't notice my shoulders were working till after the exercise is over :) Interesting how our bodies are all different.

Thanks for the kind words about my family's troubles. There's no easy end to any of it, unfortunately. My mom is spending her day researching various options.

I'm getting my hair done tonight and I'm planning to do something a little... crazy  More tomorrow!

Have a great day!

Good Afternoon!

This morning I had Burn Sets Chest, Back, and Shoulders. Added on 100 jacks and 50 ski hops and repeated it. There I go again with that cardio. ;)

Karen - Born to Move, never heard of that one. Will have to check it out. I'm going add on HC where I can while finishing the XTrain rotation then I'd like to add it more on whatever I decide to do next.

Sam -That is one of things I really like about SuperCuts is the variety. I'm hoping if I continue with HC that as time goes on my shoulders will be able to handle it better. I don't have juicer but I did buy a Ninja and absolute love it. I used to toss a combintion of fruits and veggies together and blend it all together and drink it. It was on the thicker side so it was more like a smoothie. I don't use it as often as what I did because it was making it a little difficult to sit and have dinner with DH when I was drinking the majority of mine. :)

Hi Laurie - Hope things are going well.

Make it a great day!
Brenda

Hi,

Today I did Trisets upper. Still not feeling well.

Brenda, how much longer on the Xtrain rotation do you have? Cardio:)

Sam, glad you and your mom are in better spirits. I think its the music on Supercuts that makes it so fun. I have a juicer and I love it. I haven't used it much over the winter but I go in spurts--used it a lot last summer. I only did section 2 yesterday of Born to move. I thought it might have a dread factor but the 50 plus min. went by quite quickly. Everything seems harder right now as I am not feeling really well.

Have a good day.

Happy Friday! No workout yesterday. Wednesday afternoon a pit bull walked up behind our yard (outside the fence area ) and our neighbors son was outside playing ball. They have had a pit before so he wasn't scared as the dog seemed trained. His parents were not home so he called our home and DH went outside. The dog had ears clipped and no signs of violence. He didn't have on a collar so DH took our dogs collar and walked the pit around the neighborhood to see if he could find the owner. Two hours later, no luck. DS14 says the dog new all kinds of commands and it was evident that he was well cared for. We posted pics on FB and everything and no look. We eventually called the police since animal control was closed and they assured us they would send animal control that morning. My boys didn't want the dog roaming the neighborhood, so DH feed him and let him sleep in the garage. Animal control picked him up that morning and was able to find the owner which was a neighborhood across the street.

I did power hour this morning for a low rep total body strength training. I can't remember the last time I did that workout. I did those first 16 push ups and for the next set where you jump in and out I decided to do them like in HC off of the step which wasn't so bad.

DS goes for his first day of volunteer work at the Humane Society after school today. He seems excited. I can't wait to hear how it goes.

Oh yeah---DS has started spring weight training for football. He went on Monday for upper body. They were scheduled to do upper body again on Thursday since they didn't have training on Wednesday. He didn't go Thursday because he said he is still sore and he can barely lift his arms.....LOL! I told him that he has to work through it.

Karen---I can't say that I am seeing any visible change yet from HC but I can't definitely feel it so I know it's coming.

Brenda--it has been cold this week too. I am looking forward to some sunny days :D

Sam--I don't own a juicer so I can't really comment on it.

Good morning!

I haven't worked out yet, but wanted to wish everyone a happy weekend and thanks for the advice about blenders/juicers. I few people on facebook mentioned that investing in a vitamix or ninja might be a better idea...

Heartymax- I'm glad the pit was reunited with it's owners. It's such a shame that all pits can't be so well cared for. We have lots of problems with pit violence in Milwaukee. People get them and don't train them properly.

SO, my hairdresser dyed my hair DARK red (it's short now, chin length, not like my profile picture at all...) and put in a little PINK extension on one side. I LOVE IT! DH really likes it too. As soon as I dig out my actual camera and take a picture, I will post it (I'm always just taking pictures on my phone).

DS and I might take my mom to lunch today for her birthday. Have a great weekend!

Hello Ladies,

Well it can start getting less hectic here are work. I am really sick and tired of all these meetings that they have me going to. I was in a meeting all day Wednesday, and yesterday was trying to catch up. Left work early to go to BW3's for the start of the March Madness. My boss wanted me to go, so I went. :D Still have a ton of work to get done, but I just thought I would pop in to say hi!

Have a great weekend!

Happy Friday!!

This morning I had Tabata and did all 5 levels and did a little HC but didn't have much time left to workout. I thought some would be better than nothing. It was tough after not doing anything that hard for a couple of weeks. I made it through. :)

Karen - I hope you start feeling better soon. It's a 90 day rotation and I'm finishing up with week 8. I'd only have a couple weeks left but I lost those two weeks when I had surgery. I want to look and see what the rest of the rotation consists of and who knows, maybe I change gears and do something else or add in some other stuff.

Heartymax - Glad they found the owner for the pit. I hope DS like's it at the Humane Society. We have sun today but temps are still cool. A step in the right direction I guess. I heard they were talking about a chance of snow over the weekend. :(

Sam - I have a Ninja and love it! I don't the Ninja is as expensive as the Vitamix. Can't wait for you to post a picture of you so we can see the new you. :) I colored my hair last Saturday and the color was natural light auburn and it ended being more red than I was expecting but I love it! If you take your mom out for lunch, I hope you guys have a wonderful time.

Everyone have a great weekend!
Brenda
