Buff Badgers week of December 26

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas. Of course, no workouts for me last week so it was an unexpected rest week. I managed to gain enough energy by Friday to get the house clean, grocery shop and prepare Christmas dinner. We had just a few family members over so it was small and fun. No after Christmas shopping yet, but I am thinking about going out today to see if I can find a few bargains for myself.

This morning was 45 minutes of Cardio Blast followed by the first 15 minutes of level one of Jillians' 6 pack abs.

Good morning! I enjoyed the rest of my rest week and had a hectic Christmas weekend. My dog was not a good house guest, which added to the general chaos :)

My mom got me Bootcamp, Hiit, and Body Max 2 for Christmas  I did Body Max 2 yesterday, but I hit the wall early and had to modify quite a bit. My body still hadn't woken up after the rest week I guess.

Despite resting all week and eating poorly, I lost a couple pounds. I need to remember that tends to happen when I rest. I always assume it's a fluke, but it seems pretty consistent.

Heartymax- I went to Target yesterday to get stuff for dinner and also strolled by some of the deals. I got some pretty foil wrapping paper that I didn't want to pay full price for before Christmas and a few bows.

I've got the week off, and I'm going to really enjoy hanging out with DS. The weather's so nice, I even considered a Zoo trip today!

Have a great day, everyone!

Sam--- Awesome Christmas gift from your mom! Body Max 2 is a killer and fun workout. I love the premixes from that one. We don't have company a lot so our dog is a bit energetic at first when people are over. He does settle down though. He is older so I can also let him outside in the fenced backyard. On sunny days, I will find him stretched out like he is getting a suntan:D. Congrats on keeping your weight down during your rest week. For some reason, that seems to happen to me to as long as my eating is normal. It is that TTOM and top that off with a few carbohydrates from the holiday and my stomach is not looking friendly this week.

This morning was Athletic Training. I a trying to decide on a rotation to start off the new year. I have noticed a rotation that uses STS and the new Low Impact series. 6 months til my family vacation so I definitely need to step it up a notch and get great results.

Good afternoon! Heartymax, it looks like it's just you and me so far this week. Everyone else must still be recovering from the weekend :) You're right about the premixes on Body Max 2. I did the cardio timesaver yesterday. Woo! That was a fun little workout! I wanted to start the new year with TA Meta, but it hasn't shipped yet, so I might have to wait till the following week.

Not sure about today yet, I think I very minorly pulled something in my upper back yesterday while lugging DS around. It's not bad enough to skip a workout, but annoying enough to stick to something lower impact. Bummer, I really wanted to do Bootcamp today :(

Have a great day!

HI there! Well, not only did I have a bladder infection over the weekend I also caught a cold! Saturday I did do P90X Core Synergistics. Sunday I walked for 45mn and Monday I had planned on working out then DH informed he had company coming over. Then I decided to do it after they left and they stayed all day! Yesterday I got on the elliptical for 40mn and today is going to be Pilates Max. Did not sleep well with my cough and nose issues, so I want to do something "lighter".

Heartymax, I had planned on getting out shopping on Monday but DH kind of spoiled that!

Sam, good job on losing weight over the holidays! I think this is the first year I have either maintained or lost during the holidays! I have lost almost 2 but we are having Christmas with my sisters family this Saturday and I have a feeling I'll add those 2 back on!

Have a great night ladies! Susan

Hello everyone! You guys are all doing great fitting in workouts over the holidays.

Susan - Sorry to hear you were sick over the weekend. And STILL you manage to workout! You're amazing.

Sam - That's fabulous you were able to lose weight. I have way too many Christmas cookies left so eating has not been good. I need some of your willpower STAT! LOL

Heartymax - I saw that rotation you are talking about. Trying to figure out myself what I want to do. Right now I'm enjoying doing some workouts I haven't done in a while.

Here's how my last few days have gone:
Friday - PLB Up premix
Saturday - KCM Step Boxing
Sunday - KCM Split Sessions Total Body Timesaver
Monday - KCM Step Boxing (partial) + TLC Combos 68 min. Total
Tuesday - Jari Love Ripped 1000
Wednesday - Results Lower Body + Yoga Relax 20 min.

My chest, lats and core are very sore today which is why I did the yoga for extra stretching. I think tomorrow will be a Leslie day or Rest depending how I feel.

I've been enjoying my week "off" even though I'm on call and already signed on 3 or 4 times to check on things. Watching lots of Netfix streaming shows and getting things checked off my list. Mostly just RELAXING. It's so nice not to have to nag about homework for a couple weeks. DH and I have to head out dishwasher shopping now to replace our 11 year old broken one. Talk later.

Susan----You are one tough cookie! Working out even though you were sick. Impressive Lady!

Sue---catching up on some movies sounds like fun. I took my youngest DS to see Alvin the Chipmunks yesterday. I don't have any left over cookies---but I do have some potato rolls that were screaming my name earlier this week when I grabbed a slice of left over ham.

Sam--- I don't own Bootcamp. I had my eye on it for a while but then I purchsed the new series. We have to tightened up the budget for summer vacation so no purchases for me. It's amazing how regardless of how many videos I have---there always seem to be one more---maybe two that I still want.

This morning was Jillians 6 pack abs. I chose to do level 2 for the entire 35 minutes. The plan was to top that 35 minute workout off with slide and glide but I was just too lazy after I was done. My abs are already sore from earlier this week. There is no way that I would do this workout 5 days a week. If the video was nicely chaptered like Cathe---then it would be more user friendly. I guess that it why some videos are less expensive.

Well, I planned on taking it easy yesterday and ended up doing Hiit 30/30 for the first time. I did okay! The only segments where I had to stop early were the air jacks and the squat thrust jumps. I have such issues with anything resembling a burpee or mountain climber  I think I just need to get used to them. Anyway, I loved being done with working out after 28 minutes ;)

I went out for drinks with a friend last night, so I have to keep eating to a minimum today :p

Elliot got bathed/groomed for the first time last night. They said he was a good boy but didn't like the dryer.

Sue- My eating wasn't that great, but it seems whenever I take a week "off" a couple pounds drop off. I think it's just tricking my metabolism or something. Unfortunately, if I take more time than that off, the weight starts piling back on  I'm glad you're enjoying your relaxing week. You got some tough-girl workouts in. No wonder your lats and chest are sore with all that punching!

Susan- You're amazing, lady! I wish I could have your energy. (I know I've said that many times :)) I hope you're feeling better soon.

Heartymax- Yes, I always want more Cathes. I'd like to eventually acquire her whole collection. I keep hoping I'll win a contest or something :D

Have a great day, everyone!

Heartymax - DD and I would like to see The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo so we may do that. DH and I drove by a movie theater yesterday and the parking lot was packed. I guess everyone else has the same idea. ;) We have leftover ham, too. If I buy some good bakery bread I can probably get my kids to finish it off and then it's just the cookies left. I'll probably freeze those since everybody is sick of eating them.

Sam - I've been reading VF this morning and saw you posted that Mary lives only a couple miles from you! That surprised me so I checked an old receipt and saw a Milwaukee PO box. Never noticed before. Yes, I think my soreness was from all the punching in TLC and pushups in Ripped. Have you tried modifying the burpees and mountain climbers by using your 4" step? I do that sometimes and don't feel guilty in the slightest since I'm still working hard. It's easier on the wrists and low back, too.

Today is definitely a rest day. My low back is very tight so I might do some stretching but that's it. I have to take my daughter to a music store to pick out a piece for her WSMA solo and send the Wii in for repair. It won't read any game disks. $89 to fix it but comes with a 1 year warranty.

Did anyone order or think about ordering the new Kelly Coffey-Meyer workouts? I'm reading good things about them and I love Kelly's workouts so I'll probably order them soon.

Hi there! Today I felt much better and went for 4+ mile run. Wasn't my best run but I felt pretty good!

I have been looking int he new Collage Video catalog and saw a lot of the Kelly Coffey workouts I liked. I do not own any of hers but when I preview them online, they look fun. Sue, is she a good cuer?

Sam, glad you were able to have some fun with your firend. We all need that once in a while. ;)

Heartymax, I saw Jillian had a new one in the catalog this morning that I want to look at ( Shed & Shred). Have you heard of it?

Gotta get back to work! Have a good day! Susan

Susan

Susan - I think Kelly is a good cuer but sometimes my brain has trouble processing what she is saying! LOL I'm okay with her strength and circuit workouts but her step kickboxing can take some practice because of the speed and original combos. For example I'm used to doing jab, cross, hook, upper as a standard combo but KCM will throw something new at you like jab, upper, hook, upper. It's not tough but because of the pace and because I haven't done the workout enough, I hear the cues but my brain doesn't register in time so my arms end up flailing! It's worth it to learn though because her workouts are fun. Mary on totalfitnessdvds.com has clips you can watch so I urge you to do that. HTH

I ordered 2 of Kelly's new ones yesterday, Your Best Body and her new step kickboxing one. Am heading down to the basement to do Split Sessions in a few minutes. Was thinking about seeing a movie but after reading reviews of Dragon Tattoo decided it was not appropriate for DD16. Am thinking of going to Barnes and Noble later so the kids can use gift cards they received. Hope that wet, freezing stuff stays away. Would rather have snow.

Happy Friday!

My upper back really started to hurt me yesterday, so I decided to take a rest. It's a strange pain I've never had before, right smack in the middle of my shoulder blades. I think it might be a pinched nerve. I've gotten those in my neck before and it's sort of similar. But, if that is what it is, I need to rest it. :( DH is home today, so he can do the heavy lifting (DS) and I can totally rest my back.

Sue- Yes, the first time I ordered something from Mary I noticed the return address and was surprised, her zipcode is only one digit different than mine. Then I "liked" her page on Facebook and saw she's based in Tosa. Yet another reason to order from Mary: support a local business :) I modify stuff in plank position like you mentioned, sometimes even on a much higher step... I'm just reeeaaallly bad at burpees :D

Susan- I'm glad to hear you're feeling better. I hope I can get back in the game again soon. I agree with Sue about KCM's cueing. For some reason she can be hard to follow even though she cues way ahead.

I hope this weekend will be fun. DS is staying over at my MIL's and DH and I are seeing Jim Gaffigan tomorrow night with my brother and his wife. I'm really excited! I've never seen a comedian before, and he's one of my favorites.

Have a great New Year's! I'll talk to you in 2012!

Hello there. Today, after work, I will be doing Ultimate Ball by S90. I went for brisk walk with Ruby this morning and then went down and did a bit of AB work. Then decided I wanted to do Ult. Ball but did not have enough time!

Thanks for the info on Kelly! I am going to look into it and check out that website you ladies go through. :) My birthday is coming up... ( 19th)

Spending tomorrow with my sister's family, celebrating Christmas/ New Years. We won't be out too late though! Will either run or do S90 Tabata Saturday morning. Haven't decided about the other days yet.

Have a wonderful weekend! Happy New Year!
Susan:D

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I did KCM CardIo Blast Step Plyo Blast Plus combo 49 min. and loved it. Susan - This would be a good one to get. 30 min. of Plyo and 30 min. of Step. The Plyo is probably more intermediate than advanced but you can always do more reps and shorten the rests. She cues very well in this one. No flailing arms. ;-)

Anyone have plans? DH would like to see War Horse so maybe we'll do that. Kids have requested crockpot beef roast so I'll make that for tomorrow night.
