Buff Badgers Tuesday

Good morning,

Hope everyone is doing well. WAY too sticky outside this morning! I think it's supposed to cool down here by the end of the week. Let's hope so!

Well, it was a struggle but I got up and ran this morning. That's it but I was lucky to get myself to do that. I am not sure what my problem is this week. Anyone else go through periods of time like that? Just don't wanna!

I think I am going to skip the August rotation for now. I think it's too much for me at this point, gotta do some other rotations and get in shape first. I am thinking of doing an endurance workout like MM once per week, then a couple circuit ones like HSC etc. Then, run the other days. Anyone had any luck with circuit rotations? I thought they'd be a good fat burner for a few weeks. I am a bit scared to do an all out strength rotation until I drop a little of this extra fat. Think I need to cardio. I know weights are important too but I will still get that in with MM and the circuits.

Well, that's all for now! Hey Jedi--I will have some weekdays off in September, maybe we can finally get together!

Morning Fellow BB's

Yesterday was my first time trying the Aug05 rotation. The jumping jacks where very doable, and I did all 40 push-ups on my toes. Huzzah! (as those Elizabethians say!) It really added something different to the work out.

Tonight will be Imax 1 and 200 walking lunges. This will be later at night so my neighbors don't think I'm a nut case doing those lunges outside in my driveway. ;-) Have a hair appointment after work today!

Thea, yes it is very hot out today. I'm hoping you are right and the weekend will be better. :) I'm not an expert, but you should be fine with doing MM once per week and adding circuit training. You will not gain strength, but will tone up.

Have a great day!

Laurie

Good morning.
Thea, I'm going through one of those periods of struggling to get into a workout right now, so you're definitely not alone! I've been trying to work out in the morning to avoid the heat, but I've really been dragging lately. This morning my alarm went off at 5:15, I turned it off, thinking I was going to get up in a few minutes, then woke up again just before 7. Oh well. I'll just have to brave the heat after work. We don't have air conditioning, so I just stand in front of a fan a lot.

I think today I'll do Imax 3 and one of the Slow and Heavy workouts. But I'll have to see how energetic I am by then!

Also, I've been trying to alternate a week of interval training/weights with a week of circuits with occasional additional weight work and have found it to be effective for me. My weight is holding steady at the lower end of my usual range... if I cleaned up my diet a little I think I'd probably lose some weight even! :) I really like circuits for days when I'm not up for continual cardio, and doing them more regularly has seemed to be working. I do have to include a decent amount of cardio too, though, to keep from gaining weight. Anyway, I would say to just keep trying different types of rotations for a few weeks at a time to see what your body responds to most.

Have a great day!

Good morning Badgers!

Thea-that happens to me, too, and I'm betting everyone has periods like that. Maybe even Cathe! I think our bodies let us know if they really need a break for a few days. Maybe you're not resting enough?

Laurie-if there was a bowing down smiley I'd use it here! 40 pushups on your toes!? That's amazing!!

Ellen-sounds like a good plan to me. I need to plan out a rotation for myself. Right now, I'm kind of just going to the cabinet to see what jumps out at me.

So today I dont' know what I'm doing, but it will be something with weights. The WHFN workouts I talked about are less intense, so I might choose one of those. My last 3 days were Super Sculpting, Rythmic Step, then 55 minutes Cardio Coach, so I think a lower day might be in order. We'll see.

Have a good day!

Good afternoon, BBs!

Thea - I'm definitely going through what you are. My morning workouts have become more difficult. It takes awhile to get going and then I don't feel like doing the higher intensity until I'm almost done with my workout. Next week I'm on vacation so hopefully catching up on sleep and being able to workout later in the morning will help that.

Laurie - Good job on the pushups! That was after BodyMax right? Yikes! I definitely would have done those on my knees.

Ellen - I love circuits - especially those from the Terminator DVD. I burn more calories doing Viper than all my other Cathe cardios except MIC. It helps with the boredom factor, too because you're always switching to something new.

For my workout this morning I did MuscleMax and added 100 walking lunges (inspired by the August rotation). Would have done 200 but ran out of time.

Ugh - there's donuts here at work and I'm under a lot of stress today. MuscleMax was interrupted by a call from work at 6:00 a.m. - system was in logging mode, no one had their reports, etc. I fixed that problem but now I have reps chewing my a$$ because the invoices we send them via email are printing unreadable characters. Oh, the joys of working in IT! I REALLY want a donut now but I'll try to be strong.

Have a great day!

Sue

Hello fellow BBs,

I've got KP&C on tap for today. I'm a little nervous because that is the workout I was doing when I strained my knee a few months back. I will definately try to watch my form and modify as needed. I've heard this is a good workout, so I'm looking forward to it, but it will still be a struggle to get myself downstairs - once my lunch digests a bit.

I agree...HOT HOT HOT! After my workout yesterday, I hung out in the garden weeding and putzing around for several hours. I was just a puddle.

This is the first "rotation" that I have attempted, and I'm hoping that it makes me a little more into the exercise habit so that the times that I don't want to workout are fewer than the times that I DO want to workout.

Stay cool everyone.

Amy

Hello there,
How is everyone? I to am feeling tired. I think it is because I have my little "red" friend and boy am I feeling runn down. Today was LowMax and usually I am able to do the whole thing and still have some energy at the end, not today, I barely made it through and I was so tired at the end that all I wanted to do was sit down and take a nap. I did perk up a bit as the day has progressed. I am not doing the Aug rotation since I do not own all the DVDs but I am going to try to do the non Cathe portions (push ups, jumping jacks, etc.)
Thea- I love MM. I do it about 1 to 2 days a week to help tone up. I glad that you got some day off in Sept, we will have to get together and I will bring the little guy (I don't want to put his name on the forum, call me old fashion but I just don't people to known his name)
I am going to be on vacation next week so I will probably no t be checking in. I am going to see my brothere and his wife and then I have a wedding to go to also. I am going to try to get my brothers wife into Cathe (she will need something to do while he is in the Army's bootcamp for the next 8 weeks). Oh well, I better run...lots to do before my DS wakes up from his nap.:D

Jedi-sorry you're feeling tired. Just call your son Jedi, Jr. LOL. Are you going away for your vacation?

Amy-good luck with KPC. I haven't done a kickboxing workout in so long. I'm still in the honeymoon stage with my bosu (which I bought from Marie :) ) so I've been using that mostly for cardio. I do think it's a fun workout, and the best KB one she's put out, IMO.

Sue-I like MM, too. I am surprised at how the bands work the muscles differently than the dumb bells or barbell. I always have doms from MM. How are you doing on the donut resistence front? Good luck! I work from home mostly and it's one of the things I do NOT miss! Our office (of mostly overweight people) always had treats brought in almost every day.

Where's Marie today?

I got bad news this morning. On Saturday, DBF and I went to dinner at friends' house in Racine. We had a really fun time. The couple is a bit older than us (we are 39F & 40M; they are 55F & 50M) but we are good friends and have lots to talk about always. The woman's daughter called me this morning to say she is at All Saints in Racine in ICU! She had chest pain on Sunday morning and ended up having a triple bypass Sunday afternoon. I can't believe it. The woman does not smoke, barely drinks alcohol, and eats pretty healthfully. She's about 30 pounds overweight, but it's just shocking. I will visit her as soon as she's out of ICU. :(

No workout for me yet today; it will be late afternoon, around 4pm. I think I might do the old Firm Strength one.

Pedmom -

Sorry to hear about your friend. Yeah, heart disease can strike the most unlikely looking people. I work with a guy who is 46 and slim but has to carry his heart medication with him at all times just in case. Does your friend workout? Exercise definitely helps with blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, etc. At my last OB/Gyn appointment my doctor ordered some extra tests "because of my weight" (I need to lose 20 pounds). I think he was surprised with the excellent results that came back.

YES! I resisted the donuts--TWICE! There were donuts in our department and later donuts in the lunchroom. Seems like people are always eating junk around here and I'm not the only ones with weight to lose.

I'll say a prayer for your friend.

Sue

Good job on the donuts! I haven't had such a good day.

My son's friend called last night to come over, which is fine. They have been friends for 10 years and I am very good friends with his parents. Usually when he stays over, they will pick him up after football practice, but he asked if he could come over for awhile today. I said fine, even though I knew my son didn't really want him there all day because he wants to finish up his online driver's ed stuff before school starts. Anyway, the mom calls at 11:30 and says when does he need to be picked up. I think that is kind of rude----it puts the onus on me to say when I can no longer stand having her kid here lol. So I said how about picking him up at supper time. Fine---she's going to the house they bought to help her DH work on fixing it up and they'll pick him up before dinner. I have another younger son, and he is autistic and on quite the time table--he usually has to eat by 5:30 or so, which my friend knows. She finally called me at 6:30 and said "Hi Jill, does X need to be picked up right away?". WAAHHHTTT? I said "Yes, I had leftovers taken out of the freezer to warm up cuz I had so much work today and didn't have time to cook, and there isn't enough for 4 people". So she said they'd be here in half an hour.

Sorry to type this much, but I've just been in a crabby mood all day over this. This boy has been at my house at least one day a week like this all summer and I'm just sick of feeding him!

Thanks for letting me rant!
