Buff Badgers Friday

Good morning,

Ugh, I slept in again this morning so skipped my workout AGAIN. I doubt I will get much in this weekend either, busy with work but I will try my best. I need a clean slate!

I seriously need a kick in the behind this week. I am in this slump where I want to workout but when it comes time to get up and do it I don't. How do you guys stay on track? This used to be much easier for me to do, then "grown up life" began! And, here I thought it would easier to find time AFTER college!

Have a great and healthy day!

Morning Fellow BB's,

Didn't get a chance to check in yesterday, too busy at work and endless time in the car after. x( Oh well I got my work out in KPC and stability ball seg of PLB. I didn't do the double BC on Wednesday. After our softball game (which we won!), just didn't have enough energy to do that thing twice. }( Will have to try it sometime in the future.

Today is HSC and hi intensity drills from KM. That should be lots of fun!

Thea, I think everyone goes through those slump times. I suffer from them, but I try to get my butt off the couch. Even if it is just to do something simple like a walk or playing basketball. And you do have to wonder where that time goes some days. I can't believe my girls are starting schoold in only 3 weeks.

Have a great day!

Laurie

Hi everybody,
Today is my last real vacation day so I'm hoping to get more done at home. I have to do some grocery shopping, then a friend from college is coming to town. Should be fun.

Laurie, I like the idea of doing HSC and the Kickmax drills. I may be joining you on that workout! I don't feel much like doing major step cardio today and was contemplating doing only weights, but the HSC/KM combo may be just right.

Thea, don't worry too much about your slump. I always figure that my body is trying to tell me something when it just refuses to exercise, so I try to listen. Don't feel like you always have to do heavy-duty workouts, either. If you start small, with something you know you really like to do, hopefully your body will remember what it enjoys about exercise and will want to do more. I think it's when exercise seems kind of like a chore that I rebel against doing it. Don't be discouraged!

Have a great day,
ellen

Good morning, BBs!

It was Kickmax for me this morning. Those intensity drills are such a killer I still can't believe that HC Extreme workout has them in there TWICE! Don't know if I'm brave enough to try that one.

Got Christi Taylor's Totally Cool Step in the mail yesterday. Talk about fast! I ordered on Tuesday and it showed up on Thursday. Thought it would be better to start off with the Move Master to learn the combos but what a mistake that was! I don't like the way she counts out the moves but doesn't cue what to do next. So I gave up on the MM and just started previewing the workout. I like to try as I go along but Christi talks so much faster than Cathe and the tempo is much faster, it was hard to keep up. I kept pausing, rewinding, going forward slow (which was too slow). Well, finally after an hour I learned the first 3 combos. I'll take another whack at it later today or over the weekend.

Thea - I agree with Laurie and Ellen. Listen to your body. Sometimes I'll give in to that feeling of not wanting to workout and other times I'll start with something easy like "The Wedding Tape" or Gilad or Tamilee Webb. Once I get started I usually feel good enough to raise the intensity a little. Walking is also good for those days. Can't remember who said it but "any kind of movement is good." That's my mantra anyway. Good luck!

Thanks for the encouraging words everyone! I think that is what I needed to hear! I think sometimes I want to follow a rotation and it ends up wiping me out and I just give up. I will try to just listen to my body more.

Sue--I have Totally Hot Cardio (I think that is the name, it's all floor aerobics). Anyway, I found the Move Master to be fairly helpful. The first time I did that workout, I felt like I had two left feet and was thinking "HUH?!". It helped to break it down.

I am going to try and at least take a walk this weekend and start fresh Monday with a new attitude! Thanks!

Thea-I agree with everyone else. Don't worry too much-you'll pull out of the slump. It happens to me, too. I start to just DREAD my workout and I know I need to take a break. I've taken a few days off and felt great when I started up again. It's not easy to do, though, cuz I tend to obsess (shocking huh? LOL) about missing them and gaining back all the weight I've lost. But in reality I know I can't gain more than a pound or so in 2 days! If I really don't want to take a rest day, I'll do something else like Laurie said. Even stretching or pilates makes me feel like I'm not being a total couch potato, and they don't take long.

Laurie-your workouts are so hard! Where do you find all this energy? A job, husband, kids.........wow!

Ellen-I hope you're enjoying your last day of vacation and getting lots done. Did you do the same workout as Laurie today?

Sue-OMG I feel bad now! I guess we are all different. I found TCS so much easier to learn than Cathe's step. I hope you keep trying. For some reason, I had such a mental block with some of the moves in Low Max. I had to rewinde my dvd SIX TIMES to get that reverse mambo down!

I got my workout in early today because my boss was out. I had Muscle Endurance on my rotation, but decided to do a little cardio to warm up (i find the warmup a little lacking in ME). So I decided to do the cardio premix on Bootcamp since it's on the same dvd. I haven't done Bootcamp in probably six months. As soon as we started the first cardio "minute" I started remembering how hard the cardio parts are. They don't seem that bad when you are only doing them for a minute, but try doing them all back-to-back. No WAY!!! Not for me lol; that's just too much high impact for me. (Hey, I did do all the flying jacks, so I was happy with that). I did 10 minutes of the 20 and proceded with ME.

I'm hoping to get some extra cardio in this afternoon.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Pedmom - Don't feel bad! I look at Totally Cool Step as a challenge. After I got the moves down it was really fun. I guess I've been using Cathe exclusively so long for step that I know her moves and her style so well it's easier to learn new stuff. I WILL learn the rest of this workout even if it frustrates the heck out of me.}( x( :D

Thea - No, I don't have Totally Cool Cardio. I'm starting with this other one to see if I can "get" Christi. Everyone says it's worth it but it's just getting there that's a pain in the butt.
