BUFF BADGERS 7/23 - 7/27

Cathlete
Hello BB's! Hope you all had a great weekend!

Saturday I just took the kids to the beach after my sons soccer game. My workout was Step,Jump & Pump. Yesterday I cleaned, cleaned, cleaned!! I was sweatin' like crazy!! Once I was finished, I took a shower and read my book!

Today is the Elliptical (Extreme Heart Rate) followed by ab work.

stay strong- Susan

Morning BB's,

Yes I am not on vacation anymore. :( Just hate going back to work when we where having so much fun.

I have no idea what workout I am doing today, still have to get through the papers on my desk, and the 151 e-mails in the inbox. :D

In other news we where told that we had Jada the German Shepard. We could not take her right away, and the person I talked to said that was fine. We set a date that we could take her. So yesterday we get home from faire, DH is looking at the e-mails. We are told by e-mail that we where not able to have Jada, because we could not take her right away and they had a family that could take her right away. No phone call to us, we probably could have made emergency arrangements. Then of course at the end of the e-mail they say that our application has been accepted, and we would be a perfect family for any of their other resuces. Right now my DH and I are upset with the resuce organization. Why tell us we could have her, and then say nope so sorry! :(

Today is another day!

Talk at you later,

Laurie

Oh Laurie, that just stinks! They should have given you the chance to take her right away if that is what was needed. That just sounds wrong. Sounds like somewhere there was mis-communication. One person says you can have her, then the next says you can't.

I am sorry. Take care- Susan

Hi BB's,

Today I am doing CC#5 and a stretch.

Laurie, sorry about Jada. I know you guys were all ready for her. That's too bad they had to treat you that way. After all this wait, they surely could have waited a couple more days or at least let you know. Hope you get through all your e-mails. Glad you enjoyed your vacation.

Susan, I love SJP, one of my all time favs. Have fun in your elliptical. Glad you got some fun in this weekend and of course some cleaning.

Sue, hope you had an enjoyable weekend.

Have a great day.

Laurie - I am SO SORRY about Jada!:-( :-( You and DH have a right to be upset. If you want to find the silver lining (and I wouldn't blame you if you didn't feel like it right now), it's that there are other people out there willing to rescue an older dog like Jada and give her a loving home. Probably doesn't help you feel better about it though. . .

Karen - You really like your CC's don't you? ;-) That's great. Sounds like you get a good workout, too.

Susan - I love the hi/lo in SJP! It's a fun add-on to a shorter cardio. I need to put this one on my schedule - thanks for the reminder.:)

Saturday was a rest day. It was spent at the Harry Potter festival and buying the book for DD12 to read in its entirety in 5 hours! Yesterday was the rest of PUB (shoulders, bis, tris and abs) and cleaning house (just like Susan). This morning was LIC Cardio Blast Timesaver premix and another chapter of Harry Potter. I am NOT a fast reader like DD. :+

Enjoy the day!

Sue

Sue, I like CC but probably wouldn't do them as much if I wasn't getting ready for the 50 mile time trial with DH. Sounds like you and DD12 are enjoying the Harry Potter book. How long is the book? Bye.

Hi there! It is muggy out there this morning! Yuck!

Today is PS Legs and some shoulder work. I walked for 40 minutes.

Otherwise I have no plans. Hopefully a nice quiet day is ahead.

Stay cool- Susan

Hi BB's,

It's muggy here too.

Today I am doing PUB, abs and a stretch and later I will bike DH and my 17 mile tandem loop.

I have to take DD14 to her summer school algebra class and take the van to the dealer to get fixed and go to the chiro, all before 10:00. My DH hit a deer and it broke the lights and dented in the front of the van. The kids kept saying dad so he looked at them and hit the deer. I guess they should have said deer.

Have a wonderful day.

Morning BB's,

Today I will be doing LIC Cardio Blast Timesaver and Volleyball (double header) x( Would like to get in a little yoga also.

Karen, :D Not a funny thing to hit a deer, but I had to laugh at your kids and the Dad/deer comment. I've only hit one deer in my life and never want to repeat that. This morning it was looking like it would rain, but it was only looking like it. Man I hope we get some moisture soon. You have alot to do in a short time this morning. :)

Susan, I thought the same thing about miscommunication. I will eventually be sending a reply e-mail. But, I need to let a little more time to pass. We will find the perfect dog for us. Our DD's won't give up on this one. They really want a dog.

Sue, Sounds like you all had a great time with Harry! :D My DH bought the book yesterday, and of course started reading as he was eating. :) I am never able to do that. I'm sure he will be done with the book sometime today. That man is a speed reader. Makes me mad sometimes. :D

Have a great day!

Laurie

Karen - So is this time trial to qualify for a big event? 50 miles sounds like a long distance for a time trial but that's coming from someone who's never biked more than 20 miles at a time in her life.:) I've never hit a deer but I did hit a coyote in the city - that was scary enough. My BIL's dog could smell it on my car the next day. Dogs have amazing noses. The HP book is 700+ pages and I'm about halfway through.

Laurie - Your DH sounds like my DD as far as speed-reading. It frustrates me, too since I'm a slow reader. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you find another great dog for your family. Good luck at volleyball tonight!

Susan - Good job on the walking. Yeah, we need it to cool down and rain. Mostly we need the rain. My daily walk has turned into a jog lately because I've been procrastinating and before I know it,it's 9 p.m. and I need to get it done so I can get to bed at a decent hour. It feels great and it's a lot easier to jog when you know it's only a mile.:7

Did B&G Standing Glutes & Abs Timesaver this morning. Hope my butt isn't too sore tomorrow. Lately any kind of weights I do lately have been giving me DOMS all over my body. A little bit is okay but I don't like being sore all the time.

Sue

Morning BB's,

I posted this on another thread, hope you all can have a smile about it today also.

Hope I can bring a smile to everyone today with the events of last nights "Laurie Tried to Give Herself a Home Face Makeover". I finished the LIC workout yesterday after work, and thought why not tack on an Ab workout. B&G Stability Ball Abs sounds pretty good. Pick up the ball and smack myself right in the face so hard that my glasses flew off my face. OUCH! Only the first one of the night! So all that is done, and I head off to play our double header volleyball games. First team we play we lost. Oh well! Still have the next team to play. We are playing the second of three games, and Brian hits the ball sort of funny my way. I dive in the sand to get the ball. Yay! I hit it in the air. My brother goes for the ball (which is really close to me as I'm still on the ground!) He hits it (but not over the net), and also sends up a large spray of sand. Somehow this sand gets all over me, in my eyes and ear! I have never had sand in my ear before, it is like having water in your ear. Had to wait to blink the sand out of my eye, and then stick my finger in my ear to get the sand out. Oh wait we still are not done yet! I'm following a ball down the net (you never know if they will be just dinking the ball), and the girl bumps the ball. The ball goes under the net, and hits me smack dab in the nose! OUCH! Big time. I was on my knees trying not to cry! Ok now I'm done! Did anyone smile! My poor nose is really sore today. At least we beat the last team we played.

Sue, So did you have DOMS from you B&G workout yesterday? I am going through the DOMS because of the change from P90X to Cathe. My legs are the ones that seem to have it the worst. Cathe loves to work the legs in her rotations. But I'm thinking this will be good. I don't think the X had enough.

Karen, Did you get all your running around done yesterday before 10? :)

Susan, Was your day a nice quite one yesterday? I like those days when you can just do what you want.

Have a wonderful day!

Laurie

Laurie - Yes, I did smile. :) Way to sacrifice your body for the team! I can honestly say that I've never smacked myself in the face with a stability ball but I've fallen off mine plenty of times.:) :) When my DD was really little she fell off a swing into the sand below (luckily not gravel below) and had a mouthful of sand. It probably ended up in her ears, too. Yes, I have major butt DOMS today from B&G.}(

Karen - DH finally met your SIL! He hasn't gone spinning for awhile and I didn't think he was going this morning. He laid in bed after I got up but finally got moving as I was eating breakfast. (I can't workout on an empty stomach - no energy) Anyway, when he got home from the Y this morning he said he met Annette and they chatted a bit.

Susan - Hello to you!

I did a 4 mile jog/walk this morning. It was humid this morning at 5:30 so I was sweating buckets.

Have a great day!

Sue

Hi BB's,

Today I did stability ball abs from B&G and a segment of stretchmax. Tonight DH and I will tandem doing mostly tempo and 7 20 min sprints at max capacity, five min inbetween. Should be interesting. I've never done anything like that with him before. He'll probably kill me.

Sue, neat your DH met Annette. She is really neat. You are really upping your jog/walk these days. The time trial is just a one time a year thing. We will go against the clock, hoping to beat the other mixed tandem teams. I'm already nervous. Don't much care for competing.

Laurie, sorry you had such a tough night. I am glad you can laugh at it all. I guess you had better rest today. I know if you do Cathe that won't happen. I guess it's true, things do come in threes.

Hi Susan.

I have to p/u some of my children's friends from Birchwood today and take them to meet for a church outing to Eau Claire to Action City. Another couple of hours of driving to do that. Also yesterday we got the loaner van and I was stopped waiting to go into a parking lot and a rock hit the windshield. I wonder what the cost to us will be for that. I wasn't even on a dirt road.

Have a great day all.

Hi ladies! Sorry I forgot to check in! Running around today but now I am home to lay low and stay out of the heat!

Today is my off day but I am thinking of doing some pilates. My body could use a good stretching.

Laurie, my nose hurts just thinkin' about it! LOL I have been hit in the face with the volley ball but never a stability ball...Hmmmm

Karen, they have insurance for that kind of thing. If it's a small nick it shouldn't be expensive at all.

Sue, good luck on your jogging! If I didn't have out 82# lab with me trying to trip me up I'd probably try it too! It's too much work just walking her some days!

Have a good night- Susan

Karen - Don't worry about the time trial. As long as you do your best what more can you ask of yourself? It must be different though working with a partner. I don't know if Rick and I would be a good team. We've discussed this before and figured if we entered a show like "The Amazing Race" we'd probably end up divorced.;-) I know that's a big leap from a bike race to reality tv show but in both situations you have to work with your partner and we tend to argue if we're both under stress. And a 50 mile time trial sounds VERY STRESSFUL to me! LOL

Seriously though, you amaze me that you're able to ride such long distances. You must have an incredible resting HR.

I'd like to increase my distance and my speed in my jog/run/walk -ing. Running is hard for me though and I always feel a little self-conscious running outside. That's why I like to go in the early morning or after dark. It's cooler then, too.

Susan - I have a neighbor who jogs with her lab and I don't know how she does it. I'd be tripping over the leash every few steps. I have enough trouble all by myself. :+

Sue, funny you should say you are self conscious about running outdoors. I am the exact same way, thats why I like the trails, noone can see me. We really don't have a problem because I am the only one who gets stressed over racing. DH does it so much it's just another race. I don't think my DH and I would last a day on any reality show. We probably wouldn't be talking, kind of hard to win a race with no communication. Have a nice evening.

Hi there! I am babysitting my friends 3 kids today so I hopped on the elliptical for 40 early this morning. We are also having company for dinner so I'll need to clean house after the children leave...

I too am self conscious about running outdoors. I used to be an avid runner. I was up to 5-7 miles a stretch but I went really early in the morning! I am thinking about starting it up again though. Maybe run by myself then come home and walk the dog.... Don't know if my heel could take it though! It's been feeling good lately!

Susan

P.S. Keep cool today!

Morning BB's,

Today I will do BM2 upper and stretch. Otherwise today is rest because tomorrow is a interval ride with DH and Sat is a 3 hour enduracne ride. Who knows what DH will come up with for Sun. 1 week before the timetrial.

Susan, hope babysitting goes well today. Wow! cleaning and company after that. You go girl. Did you get your workout in? I plan on starting up running again when this time trial is over. I too was up to 6-7 miles. Have fun with your busy day.

Laurie, how is your face feeling today? Hope you are still enjoying Cathe's workouts. Do you have any more volleyball this week?

Sue, hope you had a good workout. Is the time you are able to spend doing them getting longer?

I have to take DD14 to Algebra class this morning, haircuts this afternoon for the boys and then get them to the time trial 1/2 hour away at 5:30. I'll check back later for all your news of the day. I've been watching the tour and am surprised everyday at what is happening. I would really like Levi to win or Contador, someone on Discovery.

Have an enjoyable day.

Morning BB's,

Today is Imax 3 Premix #3 and Ab Hits #6.

Finally received some rain this morning. We are suppose to be getting more rain, but probably not enough. x(

Loved the update that Cathe posted. Was most interested in the way she did the weight portion. Like a true super set. Can't wait to try them out.

Karen, Had to smile at your dread at what you don't know of you DH's plans for Sun. Just wish my DH would get his butt on his bike. I know it will be good for him. I have been listening to the updates of the Tour, and it just makes me sad that these guys feel they have to do all these things to win.

Susan, Hope the babysitting goes well today, and that they don't wear you out before you need to clean the house. :) Sounds like it will be a busy day for you.

Sue, I am self concious about running outdoors also. There is this woman that has a super body that goes running around our neighborhood. She has the six pack abs, tan, and very pretty. And she doesn't even look like she is sweating. Always says hello to me when we meet, so she is friendly. Just wish I could run and my abs look that good. :D

Have a great day!

Laurie

Laurie - I have a woman like that who runs in my neighborhood, too! Maybe she's training for a marathon and it's the same woman! LOL Thanks for the heads up on the Cathe update. I love the CTX series so I liked the sound of this new series ever since iot was announced.

Karen - Next week I should be able to get back to 1 hour workouts (cross my fingers). Baseball will be over and hopefully I'll be done with the HP book so it won't be keeping me up late at night. Then of course we leave for vacation next Saturday and I won't be able to workout for a week! We'll be doing lots and lots of walking in Washington, DC though. Only 1 week until the time trial!? Dang! I'll miss reading how you did so I'll have to find out when we get back. Hope DH isn't too tough on you with the training although I'm sure you can handle it. ;-)

Susan - Have fun babysitting today. How old are the kids? Wow, 5-7 miles running is where I'd like to be. Maybe start out slow with the running and see how your heel does.

Did ME 53 min. Express premix this morning. Yep, another short workout. Hope to makeup for it on Saturday but then again I have lots of other things planned for Saturday, too.

Sue
