BUFF BADGERS 4/30-5/3

Morning BB's,

Today is Yoga for me. I will probably be doing Yoga Zone Power Yoga, I really like this one. I find it really works the legs. Then I was thinking of doing some pilates type of ab work.

Karen, Sounds like another good workout. I have been trying to get outside as much as possible. Last night I was on my treadmill, just in case one of the girls needed to contact me. :)

Susan, That is very interesting about the heel pain and thyroid. Glad your foot is getting better. I'm impressed at how you have structured your workouts to accomodate your foot. Has your DH been enjoying the benifits of the elliptical also? ;-)

Sue, Have you started to look for the items to help your Mom? We sometimes don't think of our parents as getting older, until something happens to them. My Dad hasn't been the same since he had pnemonia last winter. Take care.

Have a great day everyone,

Laurie

Susan - I agree with Laurie. You've done a great job adapting your workouts around your injury. Most people would just give up and go back to being a coach potato but then again, we're not like "most people" are we? ;-)

Karen - I'm impressed you were able to do ANYTHING after GS Legs. (gulp) But then again, you always impress me with your workouts.:) Haven't done it in awhile but I remember it as a tough workout. Which Cardio Coach is your favorite?

Laurie - Glad you're enjoying your Yoga Zones that you bought from your friend. I've got to get off my butt and order more yoga dvds. I decided to try Bryan Kest's Power Yoga Vol. 1 after reading reviews on VF.

It is hard to see your parents growing older. In my mind my Mom is in her late 50s. And I'm in my mid-30s.:7 I think also when you don't see someone very often or when you do they're sitting in a restaurant or chair at home and not actually moving around, you don't notice these things either. I have to admit we don't visit as often as we should. It's hard. We're trying to remodel the downstairs and DS10 has baseball now so our weekends seem to go by so quickly. We have to make the commitment though to visit more often. I'm hoping to checkout Goodwill Friday night for some of the items for Mom (someone from work suggested it). They are so expensive to buy new and you can always disinfect things. We have a nice GW store in Waukesha.

Did Yoga X this morning. I'll know I've mastered this workout when I can do half moon and reverse moon the way they do:) Debating in my mind what to do tomorrow. I have about a week before my work hours get crazy so I could do week 9 of P90X or I could do some workouts I've been dying to do like Kelley Coffey-Meyer's Step Kickbox. Decisions, decisions. . .

Hi again,

Sue, I love all the CC. I guess press and play and Candance CC6, CC5 because they are the longest but if you add on another challenge they can all be longer. I just can't say enough good things about them. What a great workout. I don't ever get drenched from any workout but these. My legs are very sore from GS, that workout gets me everytime. I almost didn't do the CC today. It is true that we don't see our parent's or ourselves as old as we are. I think we get stuck in a phase where we forget anyone except our kids get older. It is hard to find time with such a busy schedule to visit people. I know we have to make a point to get to see my folks. My mom has some heart problem, her legs swell up like tree trunks but she won't go to the dr. anymore. They messed up so much on her cancer and kidney failure etc. I keep praying she lives for a very long time. She never looks very well though. She is only 66. Sorry for such a long ramble but you guys seem to understand how important parents are. Good will is a great idea for gifts. What kinds of things are you looking for? My mom loves plants and flowers. She can never have enough. Great job on doing that long yoga tape. Let me know how you like Brian Kest. I did Shiva yoga today, very relaxing. I say if you have great results from the X already, go for some of your dvd's you haven't done yet. Just because I love Kelly's kickbox.

Laurie, I think Yoga Zone is the next venture in yoga I will look into. What about Eion? Have you heard much about him. Some happiness one. Glad you DD had fun on her field trip. To bad you didn't know they would be late, you could have at least brought a book.

Later.

Hi Ladies,

Today was the Elliptical for 40 and Pilates Buns and Thighs. And of course walkin' the dog... She's starting to look leaner to me!

So, I see you ladies like doing Yoga?. I could never get into it that well. That's why I love Pilates. Is there a Yoga workout in particular that hooked you on it? I got a new book from library full of new and inventive Pilates exercises for home, gym and away from home. I am anxious to sit down and read through it!

Have a good night! Take care- Susan

Morning BB's,

Today is Legs & Back / ARX / 3 Mile Run. Saturday I will be doing Kimberly Spreen's Absolute Kickboxing, and Sunday will be StretchX.

Busy weekend again for us, DD10's last dance class for Saturday's. We are heading down to the faire grounds to do some clean up work. Sunday is actually going to be a quiet one. So it will probably involve some yard clean up if the weather co-operates. :)

Susan, I got hooked on yoga by doing yogaX. And it seems that the ones I like the best are the power yoga type. I think that if you enjoy pilates, that you will do just fine. So good to hear that your dog is starting to look leaner. That is the one thing I am looking forward to with a new dog, taking it for a walk. :) DH is still a little iffy on getting one though. :)

Karen, The one Yoga Zone that I really like is the Power Yoga for Strenth and Endurance. She has you do everything on one leg and then you do all the poses on the other leg. My legs where like jello after I finished this. The other thing I liked, this one explained more what the poses should be like. On the X thread they are always talking about Eoin. The one they recommend is Yoga for Happiness, it has 5 or 6 workouts on it. I saw it at Amazon, so I probably will add that to my wish list. :)

Sue, Doesn't time just seem to be going faster and faster. :) I am actually looking forward to the girls being off of school. Just for the running around part. :) And of course by the time summer ends I can't wait for them to be back in school. :7 :7 :7 What kb workout did you decide to do?

Have a great day and weekend everyone,

Laurie

Susan - I think I'm still waiting for that clicking part when it comes to yoga.:) I've been doing it as part of my X rotation otherwise I probably wouldn't be doing it. I do see improvements in my balance, flexibility and upper body strength (from all those vinyasas) so maybe it's not so bad after all. I just need to find something shorter than 90 min. (the length of Yoga X)

Karen - Sorry to hear about your mom and her bad experience with doctors. That sounds horrible. My dad had botched cataract surgery and didn't want to see any eye doctors after that. I hope your mom lives a long time. I think about my kids mainly because I want them to have a grandparent around for a long time. I lost all my grandparents by the time I was 5 and my mom is their last one.

I have some nice definition in my upper body from P90X but my main goal at this time is to lose fat. I've only lost about 3 pounds and my goal is to lose 17 more by Labor Day. I definitely need more cardio but I have to be careful of too much high impact or my Achilles acts up. The diet, especially these last 3 weeks, has been good. Not perfect but much better than it had been.

Laurie - I'm going to try Kelley's Step Kickbox one this weekend hopefully. Can't remember if you've done Absolute Kickboxing before. Is it good? I'm thinking of breaking down and ordering Powerstrike, too. I figure Mother's Day is coming up and this will make it easy for everyone;-)

Rest day today. Busy weekend ahead so I hope the weather's nice. DH and DD12 have their last Indian Princess camp this weekend since it's DD's last year (6th graders graduate from the program). Just DS10 and I Friday and Saturday night.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Good Afternoon,

Today I did CC#6 Candance, GS shoulders, abripperX, and a segment of stretchmax. Tomorrow is All Body Attack and Sun I will do NYC and abs.

Susan, I really don't like yoga, I am just trying to find some relaxing ones to see if it helps me sleep. I think pilates are hard so I don't do them. What a wimp I am.

Laurie, enjoy your relaxing Sun. It's nice sometimes not to have anything going on. It would be neat if we could meet at the faire, all of us BB's. I really liked Absolute Kickboxing. Did you try it before?

Sue, enjoy Kelly's kickbox, it's lots of fun. The more I do it the more I like it. Aren't Powerstrikes hard to come by? It would make it easy for MD presents. What fun thing are you and DS10 going to do? Tell DD12 congrats on graduating.

My DH and DS13,DS11 and DS10 have their first bike race this weekend in Iola. They leave tomorrow. DS13 had to move up this year now he has to do 10 miles. I hope they have nice weather.

Enjoy your day and your weekend.

HI everyone!

Maybe I'll look into renting a Yoga workout before purchasing... just in case!

Today I did Pilates Maximum Burn. It's funny how first thing in the morning I am pretty tight but by the middle of that workout I am all limber and throwing my legs way back behind my head!:D

This weekend will be a good hike with the dog on the trail while the kids ride their bikes. I carry along a water bottle not for me but for our dog. She loves drinking out of it! The Elliptical will probably be Sunday...

Enjoy the weather! Karen best of the luck to the family in thier bike race!

Take care- Susan

Karen - You know, I thought I was all set to order Powerstrike - I had printed off a thread where someone gave all the info on how to order - but the first step is to send an email but they don't give the email address so I'll have to do some more searches. Bummer. I was finally going to do it, too. Good luck to your family in their bike races. Let us know how they do.

Sue
