Morning, BBs!

Did Janis Saffell's Kickbox Strike Zone and I liked it so much I had to post right away! I got this workout cheap on Amazon and did it this morning for the first time without previewing. I was impressed by Janis as an instructor. She cued well and showed good form. A little light on the cardio - it's mainly a toning workout - but my butt feels tighter already! LOL

Have a great day eveyone.

Sue

Morning BB's,

Sue, I have been looking at getting some of her workouts for quite a while. I love kickboxing and the one that she does with her husband is suppose to be a good one also. LOL on the tighter butt.

Today for me will be 40 to 60 min run and Legs & Glutes.

Ellen, wanted to ask you how long of a run is your half marathon? I have been interested in doing some runs, but never had the gumption.

Have a great day!

Laurie

Hi LAdies.

Sue, I had seen Janis's workouts in Collage and wondered about her intesity? What did you think compared to Cathe?

Laurie, have fun with your run! Is it supposed to rain by you today( it is here) or are you on a treadmill?

Today is my NordicTrack for 45 minutes then ab work.

HAve a great day! Susan

Morning BBs,
Last night I did Turbo Kick Round 27. Loved it and thought it was the best of the few I have tried so far. This morning was another struggle getting out of bed but did get up and did Leslie's Power Mile.

Sue - I like Janis Saffel too.

Laurie - sounds like a great workout planned for today. Hope the rain holds off for you.

Susan - Do you listen to music while doing your NordicTrack? I have one and like it but don't do it that often. I used to do this in the morning before work and got a good workout so I know it would work for mornings that I feel less than coordinated. But then I have so many videos too. So many workouts and so little time. If only work didn't get in the way.

Susan -

This workout was definitely lighter than Cathe in intensity. The cardio was low intermediate so I couldn't use this one as a cardio workout. The toning was not tough either but it really helps you practice your kickbox form and I did feel it in my butt when I was done and burned 350 calories (vs. 500 for Kickmax). For me, I'll use it on a day I want to do some kickbox and tone my lower body but not work as hard as Cathe. Hope that helps. I can't say how her other workouts are since I only have the one but now I'm interested in getting more.

Sue

Thanks for the info Sue!

Marie, I do listen to my head phones when on the Nordic Track. I eith listen to the radio or I have a tape from Collage which sets the pace. It's pretty fast! I can do about 6 miles in about 45 minutes, on an incline! I need to get back to doing the Nordic Track more consistently because I really see my thighs slim down when I do! I just have a hard time staying in one place for too long. I like to move around! :)

Susan

Good morning,

I haven't worked out yet today. I was awake to go for my run, but it started to thunderstorm so I stayed in bed and went back to sleep. That's the best sleeping weather, I think. I might go for a run on campus at the end of the day, or I might go home and do Kick Max and part of Pyramid Upper Body. I haven't lifted weights at all lately so I'll need to start getting back into it soon.

I was going to ask everybody today if they had any suggestions for kickboxing videos, and you're already talking about it! I have all of Cathe's kickboxing DVDs, but I want to start branching out once the mini is over. Has anyone done more recent Tae Bos? I used to love the original advanced video, although his counting drove me nuts. I just found out that my brother, who just moved to California, lives right down the street from Billy Blanks' studio :) Also, I have one Janis Saffell video, which was okay but not as challenging as I'd like.

Laurie, the half marathon is 13.1 miles. I got into this one because lots of people I know have done it, and I've wanted to try it for a while. Last year I did an 8k and a 10k to see what it would be like to do an event; it was really invigorating. Even though I don't think I have a marathon in me, I'm still sort of thinking about training for one, because I like distance running a lot, even though it's really hard for me. It's challenging in a way that aerobics never has been.

Hi Marie, Susan and Sue!

Take care,

Ellen

Hi Ellen - I have seen mixed reviews on the new Tae Bos but the consensus so far is that they are not as intense as the Advanced Lives. If you like more athletic style kickboxing you could check out the Powerstrike Millenium - Collage has Mill 3. For dancier kickboxing, the latest Turbo Jams are longer. I think one of the CIAs coming out soon is a kickboxing one. Amy Bento is talking about doing a kickboxing workout in the future and reviews of her workouts indicate that they are very intense (Cathe intense or higher).

Which marathon are you thinking of doing? The first one DH did was the Lakefront and did the buildup for training. He still does for that one. Others he trains on his own and is doing his first (and maybe only) Ultra marathon in May.
