Sue - I'm living in Houston now -- the weather is so different down here -- I'm spoiled with all the warm weather. I have to say Christmas is sort of depressing without snow. However, you should see how they decorate down here -- they all have those big blow up snowmen in their yards. Makes me giggle!
Marie - I lived in Rockford from 1997-1999. I liked it and met a lot of good people. I was always "told" that Rockford is what Roseanne's show used to be based on -- not sure if that was true. But remember how she opened a "loose-meat" sandwhich shop on her show? Well, I'm a HUGE fan of Maidrites -- however, down here they have NO IDEA what a maidrite is. Also BBQ is brisket -- I've asked at so many restaurants if they ever do BBQ pork -- and the response is "you must be a Yankee". Also - they have no IDEA what a brat is! My friend from Delavan made us brats soaked in beer this summer - just to make us feel at home!

P.S. I must add, so I don't offend any Texans reading this, I finally got palm trees in my back yard -- which has been a dream of mine forever!!
