Buff Badgers 11/12-11/16

RE: Agatha Christie

Morning BB's,

No workout for me today because it is a rest day.

Took Cami to her first day at doggie daycare. Yes she is going to run and play with other dogs. :D I hope she is a good girl and I don't get a phone call that tells me she is not a good fit for daycare. ;( This is more pressure than when I had my DD's in daycare. :7 :7 :7

Sue, I plan on doing a modified doubles. This will be if I feel that my body can do extra cardio on a weights day, then I will add it in. And I only plan on doing about 20-30 min of extra cardio on those days. I want to get a little more definition in my arms. Each round that I have done I have improved in that area. Oh good job on stopping the blue paint. Home Depot has this new system. If you bring in a sample of your tile (if you have it) they can match different paints to it. And they can match it to other colors that have the same blue tone. I am going to use that for the family room paint. You can do this online also. You just need to download a picture into the Behr paint website.

Susan, See I told you that the leaves would go away. Hey don't feel bad they will probably vacate the neighbors yard in a day or two. :7

Jill, Glad to hear that Mickey is back with you. You hear so many stories of animals doing that. Scarry that he crossed the highway though.

Karen, I have long windows in our living room. The dog loves those windows because she can lay on the carpet and look out. :D I had to LOL about you having to use the window. Oh I'm with you there. Our basement is unfinished so either I put my back on the cold concrete walls or I put it on the 2x4 unfinished wall. Well the 2x4 is much more comfortable. :7

Have a great day!

Laurie

RE: Agatha Christie

Hi again, I ended up doing PUB and GS legs. Now I am tired.

Laurie, hope Cami does fine at doggie daycare. I'm sure she will. What a big day. Did you take pictures?

Jill, the yoga from tv sounds good. What station is it on?

My son forgot his snack for the class today so I am going to run it to the school. Hopefully I didn't miss snack time. I think it is in the afternoon.

Enjoy yourselves.

RE: Agatha Christie

Laurie how cute that Cami is going to doggy daycare! You'll have to let us know what she says about it. LOL

Karen, the yoga show is on Fittv. I think you have to have digital cable or direct tv or something for it. For Time Warner, it's channel 130.

I'm so looking forward to my weights class tonight. I hope I'm not as sore after this one, though!

RE: Agatha Christie

Did Kelly's Step Kickbox last night and slept in this morning. Time allowing I'll do BBC Chest & Abs tonight. If not, I'll take a rest day.

Karen - I do see results doing BBC. It's too bad I can't handle all the high impact because I think those short, intense cardio workouts are really effective. I want to try modifying the really high impact stuff and see how I like it.

Laurie - Thanks for the info on color matching our tile. Now it's just a matter of finding the leftover tile. I know we have some but we remodeled this bathroom about 12 years ago.

Jill - I've always wanted to try Namaste yoga from FitTV. Enjoy your weights class tonight. Hope you don't get too sore!

RE: Agatha Christie

Hi everyone!

Last night I pulled out StepWorks instead of KPC. My arms were a bit sore from PUB so I decided to give the a rest. Today is PLB!

Jill, I am glad Mickey came back! :7

I am thinking about switching over to Digital cable just so I can get FitTv! It's only about 5 dollars more a month!

Well, it looks like some of the leaves hung around for me to rake them up. I think a few of them even blew back over! I hope to get out there by 9am and get it over with!

Time to get to parent/teacher conferences!

Susan

RE: Agatha Christie

Susan - I switched over to Digital Cable for the same deal - an extra $5 a month or so. It's worth it for all the extra channels you get. Kids like Boomerang and some the music video channels (that actually show music videos - unlike MTV nowadays).

Have a good night.

Sue

RE: Agatha Christie

I agree with Sue--it's totally worth the $5. However, I probably wouldn't think so if I didn't also have DVR. That way I can record the workouts and do them when I want to. Plus I can put them on dvd and edit out the commercials. Gotta love that.

I went to the weights class tonight. It didn't feel quite as hard. Progress I guess!

RE: Agatha Christie

Good morning Badgers!

We had conference for DS15 this morning. Always interesting----if you recall, he is autistic and goes to a special school and his conferences are always longer than the usual student. But they said Travis has really emerged as a leader in the class. So that's neat news.

Anyone have any exciting plans for the weekend? I will have a quiet weekend sans children. I plan to get caught up on my DVRd shows for one thing. There just isn't enough time during the week to watch tv that much, and I've already stopped watching about 4 shows that I started watching with the new season. I'm having trouble fitting in just the shows I've watched for a long time. And it will only get worse with tax season coming up. So more shows will have to be weeded out. LOL listen to me going on and on about tv.

Anyway, I need to give my house a good cleaning so that's on the list, too, and we are doing a student tour of UW Whitewater on Saturday, which should be fun. Packers Sunday (of course!) and that fills up my weekend. Oh and yoga on Sunday at 7:30.

Gee I thought my weekend was going to be quiet and boring. LOL

RE: Agatha Christie

HI there! I told my hubby last night I think we should go to digital cable. He said that's good cuz he'll get more hunting shows!

Jill, I am glad to hear about the good conferece for your son. He sounds like a great kid. I too, had conferences yesterday and am thrilled with them. My DS was diagnosed ADHD early this school year. Since he has been on his meds he's is "doing awesome". We're very proud.

My weekend is full. I am having family stay with us for Thanksgiving so I need to get this house in tip-top condition! Since DH will be busy hunting I should be able to get stuff done without him whining about the noise! LOL

It is snowing here right now and I have to go out and rake! Grrrr! At least its not windy. I hope to do Bootcamp this afternoon as well. I am really starting to love this workout. I am even getting better at those darn "terminator climbers"!

Have a great weekend! Go Packers Go!! :7

Morning BB's,

Todays workout will be 4DS Back & Biceps Premix / ME Abs / 30 Min Run. Of course this is after I pick up our four legged house guest, and then try to take two four legged creatures for a walk. :D Our friend is going hunting this weekend so we are watching his dog for him. He came for a visit on Wednesday, and they seemed to be ok together.

Cami seemed to have a great day at the doggie daycare. I found it funny that they gave me a report on how her day went. Just like when my DD's where in daycare. I'm still have a hard time wrapping this around my brain.

Karen, If I had done the workout you did yesterday I would be tired too. PUB and GS Legs are both tough workouts. LOL on taking pictures of Cami on her first day. The daycare actually did take a picture of her on her first day.

Sue, Was that the new Kelly step kickboxing you did? I have both of those workouts in my checkout box at amazon. I'm hoping that DH will get me those for Christmas.:D

Susan, I don't know if you would be getting Time Warner, but not only do they have FitTv, but they also have what is a fitness channel. It is a free channel that has a bunch of workouts on. Kimberly Spreen is an instructor on it also. It works like the movie channels that you have to pay for. Had to LOL at you DH's comment about digital cable. My sister's husband watches the hunting shows all the time. Have fun with BC.

Jill, Sounds like a great weekend in store for you. We will be going to Chicago on Sunday to do some fabric shopping. I still haven't decided if I really want to go. My mood isn't the best right now. :7 Glad to hear that Travis is doing so good. I have started weeding out shows that we started watching also. Mostly because they really haven't panned out to be as good as hiped. :D I started watching The Bionic Woman, but I just couldn't get into that one. With this writers strike, the weeding could be done for us. :7

Other workouts for the weekend will be Satruday: 4DS Lower Body Weights Premix / Low Intensity Step Sunday: Tae Bo Advanced #2

Have a great weekend,

Laurie

Susan, Snow!? What area do you live in? I am not ready to see the white stuff yet!! LOL @ your dh wanting more hunting channels. Yup, there are a few (my son is a hunter), so you'll all be happy. :) I know what you mean about it being easier to get the cleaning done when nobody is home. I plan the "good cleaning" around the weekends the boys aren't here. I like to do it on Sat. so I can enjoy a completely clean house for a couple of days lol.

Laurie, LOL @ Cami having a daycare report. How cute! Oh yeah, the free on demand exercise stuff is GREAT!! That's actually how I started liking yoga; I did a Rodney Yee workout that's on there. I started watching Bionic Woman, too, and stopped after 2-3 episodes. It's more violent than I thought it would be and not as good as the original IMO. Others I started watching and had to stop cuz of time were Pushing Daisies, Dirty Sexy Money, Big Shots, and Cane. I think that's it. I still watch Amazing Race, Survivor (the only two reality shows I can stomach), Grey's Anatomy, Heroes, and Real Housewives of Orange County (guilty pleasure lol). I also like Private Practice and Women's Murder Club for new shows. That's about it and in reality isn't THAT much. I don't know why I'm having trouble finding time to watch them all. I'm not that busy at night.

Jill - I'm glad Travis is doing well. I don't know about you but when my kids are having trouble in school I start stressing out with worry. DD started off the year fine but is having trouble with pre-Algebra and missing/late assignments in other classes. It's so hard to see her take an F on an assignment when she should be getting all A's. She's bright - very bright in fact - but has ADD and anxiety. She's improved so much over the years with therapy and medication but it's still frustrating when she can't get the grades she deserves. Whitewater is my alma mater. Graduated in '86 (yikes!) - 21 years ago in MCS (Management Computer Systems). DH graduated with same degree in '84. We have a Grand Opening at our Dojo tomorrow. Signed up to bring cookies so I'll be baking those tonight. Yummy chocolate chip - the really bad kind made with shortening.

Susan - No snow here this morning but it was 27 degrees when I woke up! We have lots of leaves to rake this weekend so I hope it warms up. I like the free Fitness on Demand channel Laurie mentioned. One night I did a bunch of ab routines (they were short) and really felt it the next day.

Laurie - I did Kelly's original Step Kickbox - don't have the new one yet but I want to get it. Have fun fabric shopping in Chicago.

Did BBC Chest & Abs weights only this morning. Dojo tonight.

I'll be in Rochester, MN Monday and Tuesday next week so won't checkin again until Wednesday. In case I miss anyone I'll wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving now.:)

Sue

Sorry to hear about the struggles your DD has Sue. It's so hard as a parent when you're in situations that you just can't solve for them. :(

I just got back fro the gym and feel good but tired. I did 45 minutes cardio divided evenly between the three machines. It made the time go super fast. Tomorrow is usually my rest day, but we'll see. If I get to the cleaning, it probably will be just that and maybe a little yoga.

RE: Whitewater, funny how time goes so fast, isn't it? If it weren't for the cost, I'd be all for Carroll. But at 28k compared to 11k (before any grants or anything), Whitewater is appealing, to say the least. Ultimately it's his decision; I will pay what I can no matter where he goes, so it's up to him how much he wants to pay back. I think he'd be a lot more comfortable at Carroll; he's a small town boy and the class sizes at CC are only average 22, and all classes are taught by profs, NO TAs at all. Who knows.........I just can't believe we're already thinking about all this. It seems way too soon. :(
