Budokon Flow and Flexibility review

Okay, I have to admit - when I first heard of Budokon, I was hoping for a killer fusion between yoga and martial arts, and the first video were not that. BUT, Cameron's latest are, well, WOW!

Flow and Flexibility is basically a martial arts/yoga Pattern Dance, designed to cultivate the flexibility and movement required to really excel at martial arts. It has elements of Judo and Tae Kwon Do and definitely has a learning curve - especially on some of the more advanced yoga flows. This is not your traditional yoga - at all. The assumption for this is that you already have a decent bit of flexibility. If you do not have this, you probably will not enjoy this - or be able to do many of the moves. I think a martials arts background will help, but it is not necessary.

It's definitely worth just previewing these - Cameron is amazing. www.budokon.com

Christine,

Thanks for the review. It looks great. I also looked at the other two previews, Strength & Balance and Power & Agility and I am totally impressed. These are definitely going on my wish list. Every time I think I have it pared down, someone enables me again!}(

I can't preview the darned things at work, and certainly not at home on dial up. Sigh. But Cameron certainly has a fine physique. }(

A further update - I actually did this today and it's a nice workout. Kind of Yoga with a sweat factor! I burned as many calories doing this as I did yesterday doing CTX 10-10-10 - of course this is 50 minutes, that is 30. The moves I thought would be really tough, are not as bad as I thought - but will take time to perfect. And I discovered that getting up from a roll onto my left knee to a standing position is a lot easier than on my right knee. Definitely need to work on that! :+ I like this one a lot.

So, I just read the info about each DVD...

Christine, I have a question. How much work is done with your body weight on your hands? I've tried power yoga, and the routine I had did a lot of that... and it gave me tendonitis. I'm tempted to try these, but not if they're going to tear my tendons apart.

Thanks!

Shannon - in this one (I can't speak to the others yet), there is a good bit of body weight on your hands - but, it may be better as the poses are flowing and you do not hold them very long. So while you do a lot of downward dogs and moves that flow from hands to feet, there is no one time that you are on your hands for a long period of time like in traditional power yoga.
