"Bridge" work for glutes

My goal is to lean down. Which I'm pretty sure means little/no weights and high reps. Now, in doing bridge work, what will be the difference in using a heavier weight versus a lighter one? I definitely make sure I am squeezing the whole time.x(

RE:

I think as long as you hold the contraction you should be fine. On a side note I would not take out my weights, maybe use moderate to light poundage and don't go over 12 lbs total

Some excellent videos with great glute exercises are:

Cathe
Muscle Endurance
Power Hour
MIS (don't go heavy on this one)

Margaret Richard (just about anything, this is the queen of tough floorwork that includes the bridge work)

Karen Voight
Total Body Pilates w/ ring
Great Weighted Workout (floorwork section)

Firm Vol. 1 w/ Susan Harris (the floorwork is grueling)

Kickboxing also works your glute really well and is a great cardio workout too.

You might want to try some pilates as well. The only one that I like is the Winsor Pilates Buns & thighs w/ band.

Thanks for the reply. I do the Firm #1 s/ Susan Haris Mon-Wed and Fri w/ only modifications to the running. I am getting ready to order MIS and low max. When I use the free weights I use 3,5 and 8 #'s. When I do the FIRM classic # 5 (I think that's the one) I use only the curling bar which weighs 15#'s by itself.

Add Cathe's Legs & Glutes to that list. It has standing work and floor work and Cathe uses lighter weights in comparison to other leg workouts she has done like PS: SL&A, S&H: L&S and even lighter than Leaner Legs. I think Legs & Glutes is a good workout to have.

Edited to add: That Firm Vol 5 has awesome floor work. I wonder if Cathe would ever do a lower body tape with a floor segment as long as that one or even longer.

RE:

The Firm I did Wednesday was the one w/ the marine lady for the instructor. I really like the squat segments in that one. The Firm I did yesterday was the one w/ the really long ab routine w/ the tall box and the slower leg work which "targets those stubborn areas". Believe me, I felt every rep of every exercise. I needed money so I sold a lot of my firms. I have been slowly getting them back. I will not be buying anymore until probably September as the heat in mailing warps the c**p out of them. Living in Arizona where the afternoons are 115 I am surprised they do not melt. That is why my Cathe's are going to be strictly dvd's.:)

RE:

Cathe calls that squat exercise sit and stands and she does it in some of her lower body tapes. That Firm tape was called Volume 6 when it was released. It is also a good one.

RE:

I can't remember where I heard this, but I do it every time I work out. Any time you are doing squats or plies, lift your toes up. You really feel the exercise more. I have not tried this w/ the tall box yet, but I will on Monday.:)
