Brand new laptop!

Just went out and bought a brand new laptop, this thing is screaming fast, great wide screen, love it! I bought another Toshiba Satellite, my old one fried, it's time was coming, I had that one for quite a while. DH is going to see if he can get it to boot up so we can at least recover my itunes. Good price too, love getting a good deal. I was using a netbook we have as a replacement, but it's slow and the tiny screen gets annoying when you are trying to do anything other than read email or boards.

Yeah, I have a Toshiba and love it. I bought it about 3 years ago and rarely use it so it should last me quite a while.

I have a Toshiba Satellite as well with Vista, I bought it from Wal-Mart just before Windows 7 came out. It has been a great laptop so far. I take mine to use on my lunch hour. It was recommended to me over Acer and HP by another computer shopper at the store.

So tell me more about this Toshiba Satellite. I've been looking around for a laptop for a few months but just don't feel like I'm finding a really REALLY good deal for my money. What else can you tell me???

I'll go get the spec sheet in a minute and give you all the details, we did get this one at a store called MicroCenter in NJ, which will actually get some of these labeled specifically for them and are hard to compare the numbers exactly, so this one was $550, but I think you can get a comparable one for about $600.

So the line is Toshiba Satellite, and I don't think you can go wrong with any of them, the one I have was $549.99 at Micro Center. And I was wrong, the same one is offered elsewhere, Amazon has it for 600. I'm already really loving this one, the keyboard is so comfortable, and it's big enough to comfortably include a number pad. Truly the fastest pc/laptop I have ever used. And the display is so clear, it's like HD tv.

Thanks for ALL the info you have and can share. I'll take a better look at it this weekend when I have more time! THANKS again!!!!!!!

mine is just like Dela's except for VISTA and she has more memory. The keyboard is easy to use plus the built in mouse as well. The Skype for video calling and voice is clear. Typing on it right now. I chose it because the keyboard was more user friendly than the other brands I had seen. The I-MAC laptop might be one of the few that could outdo this one.

I took a LITTLE bit of time last night to check around on this bad boy. Talk to me about screen size. I want a screen big enough so we don't have to scroll LEFT to RIGHT (that's a HUGE reason I instantly ruled out notebooks, or whatever they're called). And 'built in mouse'? I assume it's the typical kind of mouse you scroll with your finger right in the front of the keyboard, right??? I opted for a wireless mouse on my last laptop because I didn't like the keyboard one so much.

(nitty gritty details, sorry, but that's what's going to finally sell me on a laptop. I've been shopping for one for over a YEAR! LOL)

And thanks again for ALL your input!

I have an old Toshiba Satellite that I keep around the house for just web surfing, IM, and email. It has XP on it, but it's still going strong. I did have to buy a new laptop this year so that I can do photo editing work when I'm on a photo vacaton; the old Toshiba just couldn't hang with it anymore. I ended up getting a Sony VAIO. It is slick. Super fast, and lots of RAM.

My screen size is 15.4. I did buy a wireless mouse to go with it although the finger scroller/mouse works well too. Toshiba offers online support from their homepage. Not sure of all the screen sizes they offer but it might be worth checking out. I don't do much scrolling left to right on my screen, if any at all.
