Lori!

I bought "Lovely Bones" before but never read it. Wondering where it is after our move?? Might just have to dig it out.

You bought it, but it doesn't sound like you read it! :p

I'm the same way. I have literally hundreds of books I've not read yet. It's like having my own private library! Unfortunately, most of them are in storage and completely inaccessible right now which is forcing me to spend money on MORE books. :D

No, I didn't read it! I used to read all the time and since I took on my own company, reading seemed to go by the wayside. Not to mention spending LOTS of time here! I read here, does that count? :7 I'm game whatever book you all pick. KathyS, where are you??? I'll drop her a note and see if she wants to pick up a book and get strated while she is on vacation.

How are we going to vote for our choice? I had Middlesex on my "want to read" list anyway. I already read The Lovely Bones, but I guess I could read it again, if that is what you all pick. I'm not to thrilled with the one or two choices that deal with kids. I have a hard time reading stories that involve children in troubling circumstances.

Buffetgirl, I agree with you. I just read a gut-wrencher about kids. I usually don't pick that kind of book. Why should I make myself depressed on purpose? :) I chose those 2 about kids, because they have great reviews, and The Painted Bird is considered a work of art.

I shyed away from Lovely Bones in the past, whenever I read the back cover, I thought to myself "no thanks, I don't feel like crying", but I have a lot of friends that loved it, and said it was a great read.

Lori:

Can I suggest that you narrow down your choice to just 4.

Then, set up a new thread with these four titles for us as a poll, that way we can vote easily on our preference for our first title.

How's that?

And, by the way, it's OK to choose sad books. The point is, that this month you get to select the 4 books that you find interesting. Next month, someone else might choose total rioutous reads, but that's OK too. The point is that with so many different personalities contributing, we will get through such a vriety of book types.

All the titles Lori picked sound really good...I love suggestions, cause I spend so much time wandering around the library trying to find something good. Borders is one place I try to avoid...cause I always find something there...and always in hardcover...hate that! And it is so nice to find a bunch of fellow kilt lovers!! I'll be looking for the final poll! Have a lovely weekend, Donna

It's not sad books that bother me. I just can't read about kids getting abducted or abused. The minute anything like that starts in a book, I slam it shut. I love tear jerkers. I agree the choices should get narrowed down to about 4 or 5 and a new thread be started. I tried to find this one and forgot it was under the "vote for month..."
