Body Fat Help

I need to lower my body fat percentage. I know that you need to eat clean and exercise, but how do you do it? Do you eat high protein low carb? How do you workout, more cardio less weights. I try to alternate cardio/strength five days a week sometimes six. I have all Cathe workouts.

TIA,
Shannon:)

It's a game of trial and error. Everyone is different. I have been lowering my body fat lately by eating clean and doing a good amount of cardio in addition to HEAVY weight training. What works for one may not work for another though...there are tons of possible solutions. Pick something you enjoy and give it a shot. If it works, great. If not, try something else. Unfortunately there is no absolute solution. You could also check out Cathe's rotation...alot of them have been created specifically to burn fat!

HTH some!:)

Hi Shannon -

I'm Shannon too. I've been working on this for a few months now I guess. My main focus is to follow the Eat To Live plan, a book written by Dr. Joel Fuhrman. I'm not following it exactly, but pretty close. I haven't been taking my body fat percentages, but I've definitely noticed a loss, slowly but steadily. You can check his book out here:

I just make the best choice when eating (most of the time!). Stick to whole, unprocessed foods. Ditch the sodas and sugared (real or artificial) drinks and go for plain water. Eat a large mixed green salad before both lunch and dinner. Eat 5-6 small meals a day to keep the metabolism going, and benefit from the thermic effect of digesting food.

You should look into "Burn The Fat, Feed The Muscle" by Tom Venuto. It's an e-book you download and then can read on your computer or print out. It has WONDERFUL clean eating and exercise advice. Since I got it 2 and half months ago, I've lost 5% body fat. It's worth looking into if you haven't already.

Hi Shannon,

Katie makes a very good suggestion and starting reference with BFFM.

Deciding to literally reduce your own specific body fat percentage is part psycological (goals, determination, comittment) and part physiology. Both of these components are covered in great detail in BFFM.

When it comes down to it, once you have determined that you are going to this, and you have set realistic goals, you then have to determine your basic daily caloric needs, reduce calories by a certain percentage, adhere to clean eating and develop a workout program that includes both strength training and cardio.

I know I needed some professional assistance with developing the right workout plan as when I tried to do it on my own...I was over training by hours!

Many people are quite successful at developing their own plans that are highly effective, but everyone needs resources to start!

Best,
X
