Body Bar for a barbell?

I was wondering if I could substitute a body bar (probably 15-18 pounds) for the barbell work in the workouts. I've been just using my handweights. I was thinking of the body bar because most barbell sets that I've seen go up to 100 + pounds and I know that I'm not going to be using more than maybe 25 at the most ever. Plus I don't have alot of storage area where I work out.

Hi Kimbra,

I'm sure it would work just fine. I have a couple body bars, I used to do the "Body Bar Workouts" alot. The only problem I could see is that if you're more advanced and you want to heavy up on legs or something, that it's more pricey to buy more bars than a weight set. But the bars also have a convenience factor, they're padded and you don't have to change plates or anything.

I plan on using my body bar when I can get back home and do weight workouts, but I'm more of an intermediate exerciser so I don't think I'm going to immediately need a big variety in poundage. And like you, I don't think I'll wind up going that heavy.
