I’d like to TRY the double upper body workout tomorrow. I need to know what you guys think about balancing the ball and handling the dumbbells, how tough is that?

I mean having weights in hand and trying to balance on the ball to me is kind of dangerous or am I over reacting just seems hard. Did you guys find it hard, dangerous or what? Thank you.

I'm not comfortable doing many of the exercises on the ball, so I just modify by standing or using my step as a bench. I don't think it's dangerous, I just feel like I can handle more weight and focus better if I'm not balancing on the ball.

I don't think you will have any issues, Cathe doesn't do anything tricky with the ball, you just sit on the darn thing.

It's not that difficult, but you may want to go a little lighter on the weight the first time, because you will have to expend some energy balancing.

Personally I LOVE lifting on the ball. I think you get a great stretch at the same time, and it seems easier on my (old, cranky, noisy) joints.

If you've never used a stability ball before, then you might have more of a challenge, especially in moves where you are in a bridge position. Just choose a weight that you can handle in the unstable environment, which will at first be a lighter weight than you are used to. And you can widen your feet to make the ball more stable (or use a narrow stance to make it less stable...then when your body gets used to that, you can lift one foot off the ground to add more instability!)

Learning to be stable on the ball comes pretty quickly. If you find it feels too unstable for you at first, just do some of the moves on the High Step (you will, however, lose the extra core challenge that the ball provides).

Using very heavy weights on a ball, especially on a ball that is not burst resistant, can be dangerous (I've heard of balls bursting under someone during a set of heavy chest flyes, and he broke both of his arms), but we're not talking super heavy weights here (and I hope you have a burst-resistant ball.)

I’m going to try it with 5 lbs just too see if I can balance and if I don’t like it then I use my HS. I shall see, Thanks guys. :) :)

I love that premix, it is my favorite UB w/o atm. I don't do the exercises on the ball (except for biceps). I am too scared of dropping a 15# dumbell on my face. I didn't know they made burst resistant balls, I wonder if mine is.
