Every once in a while I have to diet where I have to really watch what I eat, but I find something I do is, right before my "start" date, I stuff myself silly, with the old "I'm starting my diet tomorrow". I probably do more damage in that one day if I didnt "diet" all week. DOes anyone else do this or something similar?

Yes, I have done this many times! There should be a name for it and maybe a support group for those of us that suffer from it!:D

One of my uncles used to say: "Go ahead eat everything! Everybody starts their diet on a Monday." I cheat every once in awhile, but never stuffing myself silly like you mention. I just eat food I don't normally eat one day (once or twice that day but never all day long) and then I go back to my normal diet the next day. I know however lots of people that do that especially in my family. That's why my uncle had that saying. :)

Ever time that I tell myself that I "Going to get serious about the weightloss this time" I always go get candy, icecream or the full strength popcorn (or all of the above) and tell myself its ok because I'm starting tomorrow. Like you said, I probably do more damage in one day then the whole week of not dieting, but it tastes so good. This time (since Sunday) I did not do that. I said "I'm starting today" I plan on allowing myself an occasionaly indulgance of my sweet tooth in moderate and maybe that way I won't have the crazy over the top cravings.

You're rebelling against the unreasonable denial you know you are about to subject yourself to. That's why I don't believe in "diets". They always cause weight gain!

There's a really good book out there called, "The Guide to Intuitive Eating" that talks about that very topic and why we do it. I have not finished reading the book, but the first part of it has been awesome in explaining why we "chronic dieters" do what we do! I don't remember who wrote it (it's by 2 registered dieticians, though), but it's awesome!!!

Yes, all the time! But I always get back on track and watch what I eat 85% of the time.

Life is too short to not be hedonistic every once in a while!

For the most part, I eat well; however, I refuse to spend my entire life feeling guilty about every morsel of food I put in my mouth!

I figure that my life is over half over (I am 52), so I am entitled to an occasional cheat.

Like this evening, I went out to eat with friends and I ate what I wanted down to ice cream with chocolate sauce!

And I am proud of myself and everybody here because we all are dedicated to health and fitness -- we are in the elite minority!

Me at age 52 and so psyched for Cathe's new workouts even though I feel very intimidated from viewing the stills......
