Yum!
Good blackberries are SO good (unfortunately, the last ones I found in the stores were almost tasteless). The absolute best are the ones that grow in my yard: fresh-picked, sun-warmed, sweet blackberries every day during their growing season!

To be totally truthful here I don't think if I put choclate syrup and ice cream all over them they would tast yummy. I tried swallowing them with bananas. I made all my children try them and they told me they were all mine It was ok if I didn't share anymore with them.

I live in an area that during the Summer months, there is more than plenty and places where you can pick blackberries free. Every year I freeze lots of them and use them the rest of the year for smoothies, cobblers, etc.

They are beside a lot of roads here in WA. Lots of people consider them a nuisance. Isn't that sad? I usually pick the ones that are a ways away from the road, because of the dust and exhaust fumes from the cars. I know I am very lucky to have blackberries everywhere here. A few miles away from our house and there they are, acres full of them. When I pick them I get stained from head to toe and scratched up a bit, but I'm won't complain. Most people will let you pick off their land for free. They kind of expect it.

Kathyrn, if you have Sam's down there, theirs are really good, not as good as home grown, but not bad for Illinois in April.
