Birth Control & Lifting

I tried searching for this topic but didn't find anything.. so Ill start one :)

I was wondering any experiences any of you ladies may have had with birth control and weight lifting?
I currently take a daily pill, Im part (well, mostly) endomorph and Im looking to gain a good few more pound of muscle mass and have considered competing in figure in the next year or two..

I've worked so hard and have really been considering the possibility that maybe my OC is what is causing a huge probem for me.
I have been on it for 10 years.
I have emmense trouble losing that last bits of fat blanketing all my hard work (actually, I have yet to lean out to that point regardless of my efforts). However, Im not overweight, I look great, Its just that last layer.

I have the belly pouch that shows up the second I take my focus off a painfully strict diet :T

So I think im going to start looking inot my options. I really feel like I could break through a plateau or something if I switch up.. but I would like to know any experiences others have had with this and what has worked for them.
Its hard to explain to your doctor that you're looking for a bc method that doesn't hamper your weight training efforts.. but I think that may be the topic of the day again on my next visit :)

I just read something about this in "Clean Eating" magazine. This DR claimed that he has seen many women drop those last few stubborn pounds after they stopped using the pill. I would talk to your DR and then try it. You never know unless you try.

I however have a 5 year old and a 2 year old, both boys. So I would rather carry around a few extra pounds that an extra child. haha.

I thought this myself and got an IUD and kept it for 5 years. I never saw any noticable changes in my weight or belly. I just got back on the pill 5 months ago and still look and weigh the same!

I know there are figure competitors who have had hysterectomy's and are HRT who still complete.
I'm pretty sure many are on BC. You could probably get a better idea on a figure forum.

I take a low dose BC for peri-menopause symptoms and do not have any problems with extra weight. But I've never tried to get as lean as a figure competitor;)

A friend of mine says she lost 7 lbs on Yaz, then gained 'em right back when she went off it, and now can't lose them at all. She had to stop taking it because of migraines. I don't know if she's a total goofball or what, since that's the exact opposite of your problem! :D

Checking out some figure competition forums sounds like a great idea, I think you'd probably get better info there than by asking your doctor. There are quite a few options, maybe a lower dose, steadier dose, or an IUD. Do you have kids already? And let's not forget about the ol' snip snip for him. If it were practical for my situation right now I would definitely be pushing for that. :D

Oh yes! I did that. I thought it was only fair after I had to go through the pain of delivering his children.

Cruel twist of fate....I need BC pills for peri-menopause or I have a freakin' period twice a month! Oh well, I still had to endure the pain of child birth. He can't have ALL the pleasure without any of the pain:p
