Biggest Loser Last night

Are we talking about it?:) So what did everyone think? I have to say, this is one of my favorite shows and like Lisaann said...."not sure why". I think it is nice to see people having to search for willpower.
I was happy to see Suzanne go home though.Although I didn't think she was going to.But the girls were right, she did lie lot.I like everyone on there now.I also like the guys team but it is human nature to go for your own sex.
Everyone did amazing on the weigh in.That was alot of weight to lose. How come I can't lose 8 lbs in one week? hahahaha:)
Lori:)

It's not really good to lose that much in a week - I really wonder about their ability to maintain when they go home. I'd like to see a feature on the participants from the previous show and how many have kept off their weight. I'm still hooked on it, whether or not I like Jillian (which I DON'T!) or agree with all that they do. It's good TV, and that's the bottom line. I only got to see the last 15 minutes, but that was enough.
Just Do It! :)

I think that is why they seem so emotional...guys and girls. They are being pushed to great extremes to lose that kind of weight weekly. I am sick of seeing Sappy Suzy cry so much though. It is ridiculous!!!! She needs to toughen up some. I don't really have a favorite though...probably Jillian is my favorite though she is the trainer. I did my 800 crunches while I watched and my son joined me and did 300.

If iwere to think about it, one of my fav's would be from the guys team. Most of them just seem so nice and not cut troat.
Did you see the scene from next weeks episode? One guy walks out...wonder what happens?
I think they probably can lose so much b/c they are so big...but who knows?
Lori:)

Hello Ladies!!

Lori...read your other post and SO happy to hear DH has something in the works. I'm sure it seems like forever when you're waiting. I'll keep saying my prayers that something happens sooner than later for ya!!

I am so addicted to this show..haha I was thinking of you girls when I watched last night and I did some crunches (not 800 though, just 400) while watching too. DH ate a bowl of ice cream with chocolate syrup and whipped cream while watching...haha.

I too am sick of Amy's crying, but they probably are under a lot of stress.

And Lori...I was thinking the same thing...wish I could lose even five pounds..haha But they do have a lot of weight to lose. I'm sure they slow down when closer to their goal weights...just like everyone else.

It is good TV!! Have a great day Ladies!!!

I think it just shows that men loose weight faster than women(don't we all know that?) so is this really a fair contest? They should have a "biggest loser: men's version" and a "biggest loser: women's version."

The amount of weight they are losing is unrealistic for maintenance. And I think the show might actually discourage people rather than encourage them ("look at how much torture you have to go through to lose weight!", "I only lost 2 pounds this week...what's wrong with me? I'm giving up!")

I also wish the men would keep their shirts on. I don't need to see man boobies.

I got on the Biggest Loser website, and they show the plan the women are on - they are VERY limited on their calories, no day is above 1200 calories, and one day is even below 1000! No wonder they're losing 8 lbs. a week! Not good, not good.
Just Do It! :)

I have a girfriend who has almost 100lbs to lose and she has lost almost half in 4 months. I really look at these people and thing "more power to ya" that they can look at that much weight and even grasp the task of trying to lose it.

A lot of doctors are now saying that being obese - and these people are - is more unhealthy than smoking 2 packs a day. Drastic problems call for drastic measures. If they can take off weeks to go to this ranch and work out all day....then let them get the most out of it. You can't be on 1000 or 1200 calories a day for life, but if it helps someone who has 100 pounds to lose get a jump start, get motivated and change their entire lives, I think that it is healthy. Imagine how hard it is to work out with that extra weight!!!!

Having Dre come on from last season and having the one woman talk about how in her family "everyone looks like me" was pretty eye opening. It must be very hard for her to make this change and imagine the challenge when she gets home.

Anyway...that is my 2 cents today. I thought that the show was pretty good and at least the women were kind of nice when they did the elimination.

But if you eat the right kinds of foods, 1200 cals may be enough. You never hear them complain that they are hungry though. When they showed the meal last night that they had to guess on, i was thinking 2300-2500 cals.I knew the girls guess was way off.I think I would have been excited to do 1040 steps on the stairmaster!:) But then again, we are a little bit fitter then they are:)

All I keep thinking about when I watch that show is why isn't the woman who hosts the show participating. She looks like she needs to get into a little better shape. It kind of seems hypocritical for her to be judging the contests-she should be joining in! :)

I agree with a previous poster that it doesn't seem fair putting the men against the women. Men can lose weight faster. From what I've read, on average, the most fat weight you can lose in one week is 2 lbs. So they are probably losing water and lean muscle weight when they lose so much in one week.

I do give them credit going on national TV and weighing themselves. I don't think you could pay me enough to do that if I weighed that much. ;-)

Kathryn...I agree with you WHOLEHEARTEDLY that there should be different versions for the men and women. I know they supposedly say they make up for that by counting percentage of pounds lost...but the women are still at a disadvantage, aren't they?

And....we all don't need to see the man boobies!!! And since the women are being weighed with shirts on...well lets' all keep our shirts on...haha

Marsha,

I was thinking the same thing about the host. Seems like they should have a fit host for that show just like the trainers are fit.

And who ever came up with a men's team and women's team were just plain stupid! DUH, everyone knows men lose the weight faster. Really not fair and I hope they get alot of complaints about this so next time if the show should air again, they won't make the same mistake.

"I think it just shows that men loose weight faster than women"

Kathryn - I thought it was funny that you made this typo since I thought that lose vs. loose is one of your pet peeves.

First time I saw this and thought the same thing - why men vs women? Men will always have the edge although they did have a female winner last year. Also agree that the men should KEEP their shirts on! Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

The winner last year was a man, though a woman made it to the top 3.
