BFL on Hump Day

Good morning everybody! How did you all finish out your Tuesday? Today is day 24!!!!!! Can you believe it? 24 days and still going strong!!!! I'm SOOOO proud of us!!!!

Today is my busy day, but a little quieter at the end of the day since football is now over!!! I was up at 5am for today's upper body workout! Really hitting those 10s as I slowly SLOWLY increase the weights up just a smidgen here and there. I'm using my 1.25 plate mates and my 1 lb gloves (that I use for kickboxing) to add a bit here and there. I could barely move my arms to write down the weights after my last set! LOL Feeling great.

I go clean for my friend this AM, and I'll take a peek at the scale. It's not my official weigh-in (that's usually Friday), but I like to just make sure that I didn't do a lot of damage on Free Day Sunday! LOL

SO...it's:
kids on the school bus
clean my friend's house
school/work
kids back from school
kids off to PREP class (Religion classes)
THEN QUIET evening. We may run a few quickie errands, like the craft store and/or Dick's tonight since it's raining!

DAY 24!!!!!!!!!!!

YOU LADIES ROCK!!!!!!!

Hi and Good Morning,

Ok, today I just slept in figured DD wasn't going to catch the 6am train anyway. Surprise! My daughter took the car to the train station and now I have no ride to get my son to school. My husband told me he was leaving in a few min. to go to work so I rushed into the bath to grab my pants and came out....he was gone. Oh well I guess it is a day off then? I hope he comes back like I asked at 8:30 so I can get my car and drive my (our son) to school. x(
Not a good start to a day.

Hi Gayle: I hope you are able to move your arms to clean your friends house! Sounds like you are really hitting them hard.

Yesterday I did the S&H legs/shoulders. Took a 3mi walk last night with my son and DD.

I am now fairly close to what Cathe uses for weights in the S&H shoulder work which is actually easy for me now. Guess I will have to get my DB weights in 20's and (25's if I can). Already have 30's but might see about getting even heavier 35's and 40's.
This is great we have made it this far and I intend on doing this rotation right to the end. Of course it won't really be my end because I am moving on to do it all over again.

Today's schedule:
Upper/ S&H Bi&Tri plus Chest& Back
Abs of course
Then a run or walk 3.5mi.

I hope everyone has a great day. BBL

Hi, Heidi! I like your comment about moving on to do it all over again! I am already laying out mental plans on what I'll be doing right after this 12 week challenge is up! lol This 12 weeks takes us up to Christmas. For that week between Christmas and New Years, I'm planning on playing with the cardio from the new series (which I STILL have not opened....I tucked it away in my Christmas bin so I wouldn't be tempted, lol), with weights tossed in (I'm thinking lighter weights for endurance for that week). Then beginning Jan 1st, I will start adding up the mileage while I train for my half marathon in April. I WILL BE EATING THE BFL WAY, FOR SURE!!!!!!!!!

ANYWAY...sorry to ramble about the NEXT challenge, lol!

Enjoy your day! Great job on increasing those weights!!!

Gayle

Good morning, ladies!

You both were reading my mind, I swear, because I'm already contemplating round 2 as well. What I decided is that I'll continue with the BFL eating and change my workouts. I got Barry's Bootcamp last week and I haven't opened it yet. I figure I'll save that until after Christmas and them jump in both feet. I've been reading people's comments on this series and it sounds very challenging. I'm hoping it's a good follow up to BFL.

I had a great upper body workout last night. I went out and bought more plates yesterday at Walmart. All I really wanted was to find some 1.5-2.5 lb plates for gradual increments, and wouldn't you know they had NONE. However, they did have this 40 lb. adjustable dumbell set that included (4) 2.5lb plates and (4) 7.5 lb. plates, so I grabbed it. I am soooo glad I did. The 7.5 lb plates are making my workout so verstile now, because they are allowing me to actually fit more plates on my adjustable dumbell handles. It's confusing to explain, but suffice it to say that it's working for me!

Anyway, enough rambling. Congratulations to us all for rockin' this challenge. And thanks to all you girls for hangin' in there. It makes this so much easier for me.

HIIT Cardio is on for tonight.

Have a great day, all!!!

Jennifer

Hey, Jennifer! Now it's YOU reading MY mind! LOL While I was cleaning my friend's house, I was thinking that I also have the BBC set. I did use it for a full month when I first bought it several months ago, but haven't used it since. SO....when the time comes, it will be a toss up between the new Cathe series or BBC! OH WAIT a sec! My boyfriend just bought P90X last week! OH GEESH! What's a girl to do??? Whatever I choose, I will continue in 12-week increments!

OK...the peek at the scale paid off! It shows me down about 3/4 of a pound. The OFFICIAL weigh-in is Friday, so I'll wait to see what the official results of week 4 are. I just like to get that little look at the scale at mid-week to make sure that I didn't gain a TON from Free Day! LOL It's WORKING!!!!!

KEEP MOVING, LADIES! I AM SO PUMPED UP TO BE ON THIS JOURNEY WITH YOU ALL!!!!

Gayle

Good morning,

I must say I haven't contemplated on what I am going to do for the next round. But, now that you mentioned it,I think I would like to join a small gym and workout really heavy. I also would like to get into the Master's swim program and train so that I can compete in May. I was reading my Oxygen magazines last night and I would like to try something like that. I don't know yet. That is all a maybe. I would also like to order Cathe's new tapes and just do those for a while.

OK ladies, I have to admit to you that my past two weeks eating habits have not been good at all. I'm sorry that I haven't been keeping my word and starting right now I am going to get on track. Would y'all help me out here?

Also, I am just amazed that you can lift such heavy weights while doing Cathe. I am really stuck on 8,10,and12's.So I need advice on how to change that.

I've got to go now. Make it a great day! I know I will.

Veronika

Hi Veronika,

I hope you have a good day.

Just wanted to get this in before I leave for work.

I have been pushing my weights up gradually by doing the first sets as heavy as I can. Lets say for chest...first set at 15lbs, 2nd set if I can at 15 and last set drop to 12. This seems to work for me.

I am now using 15,12 and 10 lbs. Started at 5,8 and 10 back in September.

Todays workout:
S&H Chest and Back
Bench Press 3 sets at 2X15
Flyes 3 sets at 2X12
Incline Press 3 sets at 2X12
Incline Flyes 3 sets at 2X12
Push Ups on toes

Lat Row 3 sets at 2X10
Pullover 3 Sets at 12
Dead lifts 3 sets at 2X15
Supermans and planks as Cathe does them.

Cardio: Low Impact Step (This is a great loosen up routine after weights)

Have to fly! BBL

Hey guys!

Veronika-I find that the KEY for my eating success each and every day is the PLANNING of it the night before. The schedule, so to speak, of what I will eat and when! It really has kept me in line. Plan the night before, using the BFL sheet (or whatever you use as a journal), what you will eat and what time of the day (approximately). This way, during the day, it's completely thought out ahead of time and all you have to do is heat and eat! lol

As for upping the weights, Heidi's suggestion of increasing by SMALL increments is helpful. Sometimes just adding 1 or 2 pounds to a move makes a big difference over the long haul. I use plate mates that each weigh 1.25#, or I will put on my 1# weighted kickboxing gloves. A little at a time!

Gayle

Hi Veronika,

I just have to pipe in and second everything Gayle and Heidi said. I, too, have found that the best way to increase the weight I use is in very small increments, 1-2.5lbs at a time. I was just thinking last night, while doing my last set of tricep kickbacks with 17.5lbs how it wasn't all that long ago when I would get fatugued doing three sets with eights. Slowly but surely I've built up my strentgh one or two pounds at a time. Just have patience with yourself.

And I agree also that planning your meals is imperative. I couldn't do this if I wasn't always thinking ahead. Because I would much rather grab a slice of pizza any day over my cottage cheese and peaches :+ . As long as I don't let myself get hungry and have something ready to eat when I'm ready, I can keep my diet clean.

Jennifer

Hey girls,

Thank you very much for all the suggestions. I will start on that as soon as we are back to an upper body workout. I think that will be on Monday. Those ideas seem so logical on weight increment. I also like the idea of starting heavy and then going down if I have to.
You are all so right about the planning of what I will eat the day before in my journal. Guess what happened today? I did exactly that and I did great. I may have eaten more green beans than I wrote down to eat but that is not so bad ,right? Thanks so much y'all.
I will let you know how it goes with eating tomorrow.
