BFL for Sun Mar 30th 2008

Hi, Belinda! Enjoy your day today...any plans?

Today is MY rest day and Free Day. DOMS are dimishing, so I'll be ready for a HARD LB workout tomorrow! BRINT IT ON!

I was up EARLY this morning! Younger DS stayed at a friend's house, and older DS was TIRED from his game and then practice. He and I played some cards while we watched some NCAA basketball. Then I went to bed at....guess what time! 8pm! LOL Of course, I didn't fall asleep then, but I sure was RELAXXXXXXXXXXXXING! lol But then I was up at 5am WITHOUT AN ALARM today! :)

I'm heading to the shower in 15 minutes. Plan today is to start going to church again. We are Catholic, and I send my kids to the PREP class (what used to be called CCD when some of US were kids), but I don't take them to church, for a few reasons. BUT....I really need to get US ALL back into that habit, and it's starting today. After Mass, then I'm treating them to breakfast out. Then Dave and I are taking the kids to the school baseball field today to hit some baseball (Dave has a pitching machine).

Free Day today will be CONTROLLED! I am relaxing food-wise, but I WILL NOT BINGE!!!!!!!!

BBL sometime!

Gayle

Good morning Gayle,

my sister and her DH are still here until this evening! We went out for brunch! They all taking a nap after eating so much food!I did controlled myself I can't nap, becauce my DH snores so much! I am doing laundry! LOL! After they all awake they want to take a nice long walk! My dogs gonna be happy!

Have fun at church!

I will be back tonight!
Hi to the rest of the gang!
Belinda

Real quick before we head to church.

I didn't check last night, but did we hear from Kathy after her 20 mile long run? How about Michelle?

Gayle

Good morning!

Belinda, good for you on eating right! I hope you enjoy the rest of your visit with your sister! Have fun walking those doggies!

Gayle, glad to hear you are going back to church! I hope it becomes "routine" for you again. Hope you enjoy your free day!

I'm heading to Sunday school and church then to my MIL for greasy/fried food. I usually heat up a soup from my stash before going though! So I really get off not eating much. I hope to get in a run on the TM today. Feeling those DOMS today from PUB yesterday! I know how much we all love the DOMS!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning girls

I ended up doing a 60 min Powerwalk yesterday on the TM while watching "The Long Hot Summer' with one of my "oh I wish i was a teenager in those days" men Paul Newnam. Man he was HOT when he was younger! My DH just rolls his eyes when he sees me pull that DVD out,LOL

Well,my day yesterday was fun. I really wanted to go shopping though maybe today? I kept getting allergic reactions to the animals so i quite petting them i brought my benedryl cream so i was all good

I ate some chocolate yesterday and i've pinpointed it to be the culprit behind me basicly going into a coma after dinner,MAN i was so sleepy i ended up going to be around 9 last night ! I went all last week with no sweets,so im proud of that! I do however eat one SF fudge pop after my fith meal...and OMG is it good

IM SO EXCITED,Today is the MLB opening day for my ATL braves-WHOOHOO:& first game is tonight . Ima baseball freak, anybody else here one.

Hey to everybody,im must get some H20 in my system, bbl

Good Morning to you all,

Sorry I missed you all yesterday! I had another really hectic day here. Friend stayed over on friday and the family all stayed up way too late. I on the otherhand went to bed at 8:30PM! I had a terrible headache from another hectic day at work. :-(

I didn't get in my workout on friday...C&W but I did do it yesterday morning. That was a big time Sweat Fest!}( I haven't done that one in awhile and found that the weight segments were pretty fast paced which left me sort of breathless. I will have to add this one in more often as a circuit workout.

Gayle: I hope your church day goes well and enjoy your breakfast after.

Belinda: Have a nice remaining visit with your sis and DH. :)

Sherry: I am glad to hear that your toe is slowly getting better. Ya...my house is always busy with something going on.
I spent several hours yesterday cooking. My DS (youngest 12) went to the bowling alley last night with friends and DH and I went to Lowe's and Home Depot for of course more house stuff.
We got home late last night and then found next DS working on his guitar trying to put in new pick-ups and he and DH stayed up late again rewiring it. I went to bed and got woken up at 1am by DS testing out his newly rewired electric guitar. :( I got up to tell him that I was glad that it works but please GO TO BED! He has all day today to test it out.

Today is housework as usual and maybe a run/hike with DD later.

Hello to everyone and I will try to check in again later on. Heidi

HI Stephanie and Amelia!
Stephanie: Enjoy your run later! Way to go on the DOMS! }(

Amelia: Have a great workout on the TM and stay away from that chocolate! :) My DH eats those fudge pops like that too!

Good morning and Happy Sunday!

One last day of relaxation before I begin hitting the weights hard and (re)starting Challenge 2 tomorrow. I did decide that after these past few weeks of inactivity that I did really need to start over.

Belinda – Enjoy the rest of the day with your sister. Nice control of your portions when you went out to eat today. I’m sure you’ll be ready to hit it tomorrow.

Gayle – Enjoy your rest and free day. We’re catholic, too, but don’t make it regularly either. Add it to the list of things that we need to get better at.

Stephanie – Hope you get in a run today. Yes, we do enjoy the DOMS. Good job preparing to stay away from that fried food.

Amelia – The Braves?! I’m a Cardinal fan, even though I live in Tiger territory. As for the sugar coma, I was so disappointed when I found out that the cinnamon crunch bagels at Panera did that to me. They are my fav’s, but pinpointing the after-effects has had me cut back on them.

We’ll be tidying up the house in a bit, and then heading off to DD’s skating lessons. This afternoon the dog training group will be at our house baking up some treats. I choose a simple recipe because I wanted it to be ready when everyone leaves. So many of the recipes require staying in the oven until crisp, overnight, etc., or the list of ingredients is way too long.

A significant source of my stress has been regarding whether we would move. DH has an opportunity to get a position closer to our families. After several weeks of trying to figure out how long it would take to sell this house and how much the loss would be, we’re staying put. This isn’t going over well with the in-laws, which isn’t helping the situation, but they aren’t willing to chip in either so that’s the end of it. They have a very different view of money, so I’m sure this will drag on for awhile. But with this drama mostly out of the way, I can finally get back to focusing on me, my workouts and my diet, especially the diet.

BBL! Have a great day!

Heidi,

We posted at the same time. Hope you get in the run/hike later today. And maybe DS will let you get some rest during the day since he woke you last night.

Have a good day.

Hello Sherry,:)

It is nice to be able to finally sort out all that stress. Even better to come up with another game plan. I hope that your family will understand later on how difficult of a decision this was for you. Having to move and basically start all over is very difficult right now especially in this housing market. I have many friends and family trying to do just that. They either have to wait to sell their houses before moving or have moved in the hopes of selling their previous home soon.

Welcome to your new challenge! }(

Off to do more laundry. BBL Heidi Have a great day!

Hi everyone! Nice to "see" you all today.

Belinda - enjoy yur visit and your nice long walk.

Gayle - thanks for that link yesterday to the BFL site. I'll take any help I can get! Enjoy your FREE DAY, but remember...I'M WATCHING YOU!!!;-) hehehe

Stephanie - good idea heating up some soup before going to MIL's. Being prepared makes a huge difference!

Amelia - glad to hear you had fun yesterday. And C&W always gets me, even just the cardio portion. I don't pull it out often enough though, I really should.

Sherry - glad to hear that your stress level is dimishing. Time to re-focus on YOU! Are you starting a new Challenge tomorrow?

So the cooking has begun. Beef & Barley soup is just about done and smells so good, I'm going to have some for meal #2. I'm also going to make some black bean chili, but I picked up some ground chicken instead of ground turkey yesterday. I've never used ground chicken before so I hope it comes out good. I'm also going to make a batch of protein pancakes and maybe some meatloaf muffins. And if I remember, I'm going to make a protein shake and stick it in the freezer for later. I'll let you know how it comes out.

BBL and have a GREAT day!!!

Hey guys! It sounds like we're all ready to ROCK N ROLL a brand new week! Listen to you gals! Fresh starts, stocking the fridge/freezer, doing house projects! FOCUSSED! That's what we are! FOCUSSED!

I feel RENEWED! Not to get too religious on you all, but every time I go to church, I just FEEL IT....not sure if that makes sense. I feel like I've done something for me, and I guess spiritually, I have. I don't know how to explain it. Even my KIDS act different, even if just for this day! HA! Zachary (younger DS) behaved pretty well once we got there and all the belly-aching stopped! LOL Breakfast was great....it me, my boys, my parents and Father. (He goes for breakfast with my parents after our Mass.) It was nice to just sit and talk. I put it all out there......the ABILITY for me TO FIND AND USE the strength I know I have in me to treat my body well. And yes.....my intentions are for this sunday morning event to become a weekly ritual for us!

I'm off to journal my breakfast....and THAT's the goal...to journal everything, and to eat things that can only be journalled! Does that make sense? FOr instance, normally I'd just grab a bowl of trail mix, a slice of this or a scoop of that. But today is all about CONTROL so everything will be portioned and measured, and therefore journalled!

Melissa-I've made that soup/chili with ground chicken and it comes out just the same!

ENJOY YOUR SUNDAY! Later tonight, I'll be looking in my recipe box and planning out my next big-batch cooking day too!

Gayle

Hi everyone!
Sorry I went MIA yesterday, it was a busy day of pricing patio furniture, a gazebo, a shed, and a new BBQ grill. DH and I are finishing our backyard this year. We moved in last May and only had a chance (and funds) to do the front. It’s a new house so it’s like a clean slate…which I like!

I finally got my 20 mile run in this morning. I did 11 miles of it on the treadmill and the other 9 miles out on the trail. It was still pretty cold this morning when I walked the dog so I whimped out and started on the treadmill. I watched the new Kelly Coffey-Meyers workout that I pre-ordered while I was on the treadmill. Then I threw on my running pants and sweat shirt and headed out to finish the rest of the 20 miles. I do loops of 3 miles so I had 3 loops to do. My running time was 3:51:55 for a pace of about 11:35 per mile. The last mile was tough and I had to do some serious self butt-kicking to get it done, lol. I think it’s just as much mental as physical to run 20 miles by yourself…which can such suck sometimes (ha!)

So now my plan is to do PLB and PUB tomorrow to make up for my missed upper body workout last week. I’ll also tack on some spinning if I have time. Oh, I joined a local community center on Friday for 90 days and now have access to an Olympic pool…yay! I have to start swimming in prep for the triathlons I want to do this summer. I’m also hoping the weather is nice a couple of days this week so I can take my bike out because I really need to get outside with the biking!

Be back later for personals. Our daughter and son-in-law are on their way over for the afternoon.

Kathy

Just stopping by for a few before we have a house full of kids:

Melissa - we make chili all the time with ground chicken and still tastes great!

Gayle - yes, I'm finally ready to rock for the next week!

Heidi - Impressive run this fine a.m. i couldn't have done it . . . yet! Enjoy your afternoon with DD.

We're off to some dog treats, then get my journal ready for Challenge #2!

Have a great day!

Gayle – Great run yesterday! Wow, one more long run for you then you taper! I hope you enjoyed your breakfast out this morning.

Belinda – Your family time sounded nice! Oh man, I hear you on the snoring (but I think I do it just as loud to DH sometimes, lol).

Stephanie – I hope you had a nice meal with your MIL. That’s great that you go there prepared so you don’t have to succumb to all the greasy food!

Amelia – Yeah, you never realize how sugar affects you until you don’t have it!

Sherry – What a tough decision to make! All of our relatives live in Colorado so we’re the lone wolves that moved out of state. They’re always asking if we’ll get back but seriously after 24 years away I don’t know if will ever happen (unless we win the lottery, lol). I’m glad the stress is over and you can get back to your normal routine again. That’s pretty cool that you have a dog training group.

Heidi – LOL, so I’m not the only parent of a teenager or 20 something year old waking up to noise, huh? ;) Sometimes DS (22 yrs. old) will have a couple of his friends over to play video games in the basement. They stay up until 5 am and if you go down there it’s like game central, lol.

Melissa – Congrats on finishing your first challenge!!! Woohoo, you did very well!

Well, the kids went home. We watched a movie this afternoon and I could feel the stiffness settling in (it usually happens after really long runs). I took a couple of Motrin and feel better. Most of the time it lasts the afternoon and then goes away. I feel pretty good now!

Kathy
