BFL for Mon Mar 31st 2008

I did iTrain 6, Phase I. 3 miles for 33 minutes. It was a good one! I did not workout at all last week because of my back so I wanted to come back slowly. It felt great! I only have 2 more weeks before the 10k so I need to get moving! Went to the doctor again today and I am healing nicely. FYI...my L-5, lowest vertebra at the tail bone, keeps coming out of alignment, called a vertebral slip, and ends up sitting on the nerve which hurts like the dickens. Just to stand up or bend over is difficult. The Dr. said NO MORE SQUATS, EVER, which is okay with me! There are plenty of lower body exercises I can do so I'm not freaking out. It's just a bummer to be this restricted. Okay, enough about me!

Belinda, an hour and a half walk with the pups huh? I bet they are in great shape, just like their mommy!

Melissa, I love reading your meals! Don't you stop! I have seen you eat a lot of the black bean chili. Can I have that recipe? If you posted before I must have missed it! I am going to have to freeze a protein shake for tonights dessert! Thanks!

Amelia, have fun watching your movie and enjoy your power walk! I have to say again, love the photo of your kids! So cute they are!

Susan, don't you worry about the numbers on the scale! I weighed 2 weeks ago and was up 5 pounds, then a couple days later I was back down. Everyone here said it was water and to put away the scale!

Gayle, I had to chuckle when I read you STILL haven't made the Chili Rellenos! I have been waiting for your review! Let us know!

Kathy, those "brick" workouts look pretty rough! I know you can handle it though! You are one tough momma! ;-)

Carolyn, I love the 4DS series! Stay focused on eating clean, if you can!, while on your trip and when you get back, HIT IT! Great planning!

Where are you Heidi? Household to busy today?

OK....not sure I can remember all the comments/responses I want to make, but I'll try.

Belinda-I freeze bananaz all the time. When they start to get dark outside, I simply stick them in a container in my freezer. Just like that. Skin and ALL! Then when it's time to bake, I use the DEFROST setting on the microwave for about 90 seconds, and the banana just comes out all nice and soft and ready to bake with!

Michelle-I saw the last episode of Jungle Fever, and recently read that NBC has ordered 5 or 6 NEW episodes.

Kathy-I have to go to yesterday's thread and see how your LOOOONNNNG run went....makes MY long run look SHORT! :)

Chilli Rellenos (don't think I'm spelling it correctly). Here's the SAGA of this recipe! LOL OK...bought all the ingredients 2 weekends ago! lol Never got around to making it. So today. I needed ONLY skim milk for my house and this recipe, and in an effort to save money (rather, to not SPEND anymore money that NEEDS to be spent), I wanted to avoid the grocery store. So after work/school, I went right up the street to the corner market and got 1/2 gallon skim. Great...only spent $2 and I was ready to bake. Came home, got all the ingredients out on the island counter for the banana pancakes and this casserole. Mix the pancake batter, and start them on the griddle. Start to assemble the Rellenos and guess what!!! I got only 1 can of WHOLE green chilies and 2 cans of DICED! ACK! Now what? I was NOT going to delay making this dish one more day, so guess where I go....to the grocery store. HOWEVER, they don't have the WHOLE ones. Off I go to the SECOND grocery store! FINALLY....I picked up 2 cans and back home I trek. Made it just after the kids got off the bus and just had it for meal 4. YUMMO!!!! The book says it makes 4 servings, but they're pretty big. And although the EFL nutritional info says that size serving falls wihtin my protein/carb ratio, I still cut it into 6 servings and had it with a salad with balsamic vinegar!

WELL WORTH THE WAIT!

This is actually very good, and I think I'll make it the next time I have a Book Club meeting of Bunco night out with the girls!

BRAVES come on tonight, whooohoooo:7

Belinda – I’m sure your second challenge will be just as successful as the first!

Sherry – Great job on PUB!

Michelle – Welcome back! I’m glad you’re all settled in and ready to go! Thank you so much for your kind words, they mean a lot. The older I get, the more I realize I don’t have to weigh XXX amount of weight anymore. It’s silly for me to hold onto this “ideal” that I weighed in my 20’s prior to lifting heavy weights. My body has changed and my “goal” weight has changed into a healthy weight and body fat percentage instead of a certain number! I just want to feel good in my own skin, if that makes sense, lol.

Carolyn – I hope you enjoy your vacation! Argh on the friends who don’t get your Cathe fitness, that must be hard!

Welcome back Susan! Sounds like you’ve got your plan in place and you’re raring to go!

Gayle – Super on the moderate free day….high five! I tried the chili relleno’s one time and they were very tasty. Now you’ve inspired me to make them again!

Stephanie – Great job on the run! I’m glad your back is healing and you’re on the mend. Ouch, that sounds painful.

Amelia – I hope you enjoyed your powerwalk and upperbody workout!

Melissa – I’m trying the frozen protein shake tonight! I’ll make it while I’m prepping dinner and have it during Dancing with the Stars! And I enjoy reading your eats everyday, it’s very motivating.

Kathy

Hi everyone,
Sounds like everyone is having a good day. My workout is done. I waited to workout until after class because I was having unusual bad cramps and felt lousy this morning. I did PLB and Im expecting some major doms tomorrow.
I am disappointed in making an 83 on my test today..but who studies at Disney World, right?? My average is 97 and I can drop one test grade, so that is what this test is for. Only 4 more weeks of school..I am ready to rest my brain!!!
125 is the most I have ever weighed not being pregnant...ugh. My name is Susan and I am a binge eater!!!!
Gayle, Im glad the rellenos were good after it taking so long to make them!!

Gayle, LOL! I love reading about your "episodes"! I especially crack up thinking about the time when it was pouring rain and windy then the umbrella went inside-out so you crammed it in the backseat...too funny! I'm glad the Chili Relleno turned out great! I need to make these soon! I baked meatloaf muffins today. YUMMY! Thanks for the recipe!

Hi Susan, I'm Stephanie and I am a binge eater too! Glad you felt well enough to workout today! Way to push yourself! What are you studying, if you don't mind my asking.

Hi Stephanie!
I am in school for the 2nd time..Im 41. I am taking pre-reqs to get into dental hygeine school. Now I am taking Anatomy which I love. Im soooo thankful my english and algebra courses don't expire..I would rather cut my arm off than take those again. After dd started school I was helping out my friend at her dental office as an assistant. I wasnt planning on staying, but I loved it! Now that we are closer to a DH school I hope to get in.
We can beat this eating thing..Im sure of it! One day at a time!

Susan, good for you!!! You are an inspiration! Juggling family and schooling is tough! LOL on cutting your arm off!!! It's great too that you love your career choice! I will be cheering for you during these next 4 weeks and know you will get in to the DH school. YOU ROCK!

Have a great night!!!

Thank you so much Stephanie! I am headed to my one night class...Intro to Computers. Its required and very easy and BORING. We actually are learning how to minimize and maximize a page!! Its 2.5 hours too...yawn.
See you girls tomorrow.

Hello to you all,

Wow, it is so nice to come back here and see all the great support we all have.

Michelle and Susan: So good to have you back with us! :)

Belinda: Awesome! job on your weight loss!!!!:)

Hello Stephanie: Busy as ever here!!! My DH got some bad news today from the islands...he won't be getting his citizenship anytime soon. They have changed all the laws AGAIN! So now in order to get this he would have to be living there for a year. But we can't move right now because the kids are all in school and are counting on our support. (He is very depressed and having a few beers...he'll be ok tomorrow ):-(

Hello to Sherry,Melissa,Amelia,Gayle,Carolyn and Kathy: You all have doing great with your workouts and preparing for your next big challenge.

Kathy: What a run for you this weekend! Did you do an Itread or Runnerval for part of that mileage? My DH bought a transmitter for the tv but because the tv is old we have to get something else in order to make it work. I was going to be able to use my mp3 player to listen to the runnerval workouts without having the tv blasting loud in order to hear it over the treadmill.

I have been missing you all and hope to get myself back in the swing of things tomorrow. I haven't worked out since Saturday morning and I am just wiped out physically and emotionally right now to do anything today.

I hope that you have a great evening and I will be back bright and early tomorrow! :7 Heidi

Hello Belinda,

You are doing great! You have a great goal and I know that we all can help you get there.:) With all this nice weather coming up I am sure you will get in your runs outdoors and this will make a world of difference for you. I tend to run longer and further outside because I just feel so free.

We will be here to help keep you going strong. :7

Have a good night and see you back here tomorrow. Heidi

Hi Sherry,

We are all here for you and I know you can do this next challenge. Great job on your first step...getting in that workout for the day!:)
Having your meals planned out and ready to grab and go makes the biggest difference.

So on with the next day and make it a clean one!

:7 Heidi

Heidi, so sorry to hear about DH citizenship! Things will work out, just you wait and see. I'm sure the beers are helping! ;)

Hope to see you tomorrow with your w/o plan!

Hi Michelle,

So glad to see you back here and on track once again. We all missed you.:)
Fantastic job on getting in your workout early today!

As Cathe has said in the past...variations in your workouts keeps the muscles guessing what's going to be next. So I am with you on your statement..."Here's to "adjusting" when need be!"

Speaking of adjusting...I am going to be mixing in April 2003 Rotation Muscle Endurance into this months workouts. I look forward to using Power Hour and Muscle Endurance this time around.

See you back here early tomorrow! Heidi

Hi Carolyn,

How dare they laugh at you and Cathe! If they only tried the workouts themselves I think it would be a different story. ;-)

My DD scoffed at me at first...but now she is using them along with her boyfriend! Ha! Take that!!! Now I just need to get DH to try them out....;-)

How was your workout? I hope that you were able to get it done.

See you back here tomorrow. Heidi

Hello Gayle,

Great job this weekend on keeping things in check with your eating.:)

Awesome...you didn't put off the floor work on PLB! It is so tempting to do so but I make myself get down there and just do it. Once there I am not going to quit for anything.

Saturday was spent making up lots of clean-eating recipes for the week. One recipe I made was a double batch of the Apple Oatmeal muffins and froze half of them for later. These muffins are pretty filling and toast up great in the morning. Another one was the Blackeyed Peas and Brown rice. This was also divided and frozen for quick veggie meals.

I look forward to be back on track tomorrow with you all. Have a great night. Heidi

Hey Amelia,

How did your day go? Did you get to do your workout later?

Distractions...Distractions! I totally ignore my phone now. I peek and call them back later when I am finished. If it was important they would have left a message right...? :p

Well you had the same workout in mind as I do for tomorrow. I hope you have a great night. Heidi

Time to go pick up DD at the trainstation. See you all tomorrow for sure! Heidi
