Beth 6395 - My skydiving experience!

I went skydiving yesterday, and it was AMAZING!!! Best experience ever, and I can't wait to do it again!!! Anyone who wants to do it but is a little too scared, do it!!! It's really not that scary and the experience is so worth! It's so liberating, you feel like you are just floating and so free. It's really hard to explain the feeling, but when you hit the ground, you feel all your problems are gone and that you can overcome anything. I'll be honest, I was very nervous to do it, but once I got on the plane (and I am afraid of planes, lol) I was just so excited. We went up over 14,000 feet, it was only -2 degrees celcius and the view was spectacular. My instructor and everyone with us were so nice!

The reason why I went skydiving was because of Beth6395 making a post about what would you do?? And I said I always wanted to go skydiving. Well, August 8th was my boyfriend's 21st birthday, so I decided for his gift, we were going skydiving!!! He got filmed during the whole experience, and the DVD is so amazing! I also have a link that you can see a part of the DVD (it's not as good as the DVD, but it shows you his jump): http://www.nouvelair.ca/video_thumb.asp the code is JC61. This may sound stupid, but it's important to me to let everyone who wants to see it that I still am overweight! I've already lost 40# (another reason why I wanted to jump, for my accomplishment) but I still have 20 to go. I know some may think I am silly for saying this, but I see a lot of people's aviator pictures and see how great of shape they are in, and I'm in good shape because of Cathe, but still have weight to lose. I am very self-concious of my weight, therefore it makes me feel better just to let anyone who does see this that I am still overweight, hehehehe, i know silly, but important to me.

Thanks again Beth 6395 for that post!!! I probably wouldn't have gone if you didn't make me think about it! :) :) :) :)

Corinne!

You are beautiful! You will notice that I don't have a "buff avatar"; calvin rocks! Anyway, I hope that you will believe me (a total stranger) that you look wonderful and it looks like you had a wonderful day! All of us have body image issues...TRUST ME!

Your boyfriend is a very lucky man to have such a caring and thoughtful girlfriend!

Thanks Melissa!!! We did have a wonderful day! The weather was perfect and everyone who was there was so nice! And yes, it's sad that everyone has body issues, I am really working hard to getting over mine ... one day at a time i guess!

And I am super lucky to have my boyfriend! He is great! We have been together since we were 16 and I was 115# back then (im short, as you can see, lol) and he never said anything about my weight. In March, when I decided enough is enough, I joined Weight Watchers and found Cathe and he has supported me every step of the way! So I really feel lucky to have him!!

Calvin does rock! :)

Thanks Debbie!! You would have loved to see the entire DVD. It includes a small interview when we were waiting for the plane, another one on the plane, and you also get to see me jump out of the plane along with the 3 people ahead of us!! The DVD was put together so nicely. I thought the link would show it all, but it's still really good and it's fun because I sent it to all my Uncles who chickened out of skydiving, hehehehe ;-).

And like I said to Melissa, I'm lucky to have my boyfriend, he is an amazing person inside and out!

Corinne :)

Yes I did Anne!!! And I am going to do it again probably next year!! It's the best feeling in the world!!!

Corinne:)

Corinne, you're absolutely adorable and your boyfriend is lucky to have you. I really enjoyed the video--thanks for posting it. Debbie is right, you're a very cute couple.;) :)

Stunning Corinne - absolutely stunning! I love it that you guys did this. You are adorable and what a cute couple you make. Can you tell us how it felt? When you jumped did you get the "roller coaster belly" feeling? Or something different? And how long did it last? How long to reach the ground? I'd love to do this, so can you share some details? Thanks!

Lorrie, it's really hard to explain how it feels. It's nothing like the roller coaster belly feeling, it's more a feeling that you are just floating in the air but you can feel your body falling at very high speeds. You feel free, you feel the wind just passing you by and hitting your face (and it was cold the wind, -2degrees celcius). It's a huge adrenaline rush, and I can't wait to do it again. I really believed once I hit the ground, I would never do it again, but we are already planning on doing it next year!

The free fall was around 50 seconds and you are falling around 200 kilometers per hour, and it felt so much longer than 50 seconds. It's so beautiful to see the scenery and see the land that looks so small. After, when the parachute opens (which was sooo fun, cuz it propels you up a bit) you are in the air for another 5 to 7 minutes. My instructor gave me the control of the parachute while the parachute was open, and that was really amazing. The plane ride was a lot of fun too, and I'm scared of planes, but it was fun because you pass thru the clouds. At one point, I was sure we reached the altitude we were suppose to go, and my instructor looked at me and said we were only half way there .

I really suggest you do it Lorrie, because the feeling is amazing! I'm sorry I didn;t explain it too well, but it's so hard to put into words. The best word to use to sum it up is: WOW!!!

Corinne :)

You explained it beautifully and very clearly!! It sounds so amazing - how fabulous that you did that. Thanks so much for sharing your story and the video. Think I may just have to look into it!
