best way to transfer pics from computer and buy them on disc?

OK, long story short. Computer is outdated & malfuntioning. Disc drive doesn't work. Don't want to spend $$ on new one just yet. Have YEARS worth of photos stored on it. Don't want to loose them. I need to transfer them to disc for safe keeping. Ideas? Thinking if I buy a good flash drive, download photos, take to computer camera shop they can burn to disc for me. Then my high school DD can use the flash for school assignments.

Second idea, maybe use one of those internet photo storage sights. I hear it will take forever to transfer pics. Most sights don't sell disc either. Any ideas or support of my flash drive idea???? I am obviously not computer savy

I am a big fan of the flash drives. They are small and portable. They are so reasonably priced now.

I think transferring them to some type of external drive is the way to go. Burning them to cd's is time consuming (done that) and uploading that many photos to an online photo book would take forever. Just my opinion.

i don't know much about flash drives, but it sounds like it could work!

i use www.phanfare.com and the upload is very quick. i uploaded all of my years worth of photos when i signed up and it worked pretty quickly. i don't know if they sell you your photos on a disc, but i do know that if you use them for a year and then decide to leave them, they will provide a disc for you with all your photos on it. i really like them! under my signature is the link to my phanfare site, if you want to check it out.
