Best way to cut back?

Hi ladies,

I think I need to cut back on my exercise very soon. I can still manage to do my work outs as they are now but they are becoming increasingly difficult to complete as I get further along.

My question is...what is the best way to cut back?

Should I reduce only the days per week I work out? Like from 6 days to 4 or 5?

Should reduce only the amount of time spent on each work out? Like from 45-60 mins per session to about 30 mins per session?

Or a little of both...work out 4-5 days per week, some at 45-60 and some at 30?

I want to cut back but I still want my efforts to be worth it. What do you ladies think I should do?

I plan to cut back as of April....

Wendy, I think it all depends on how you feel. My body lets me know how much to do. Lately I've only been working out 4 days a week but for only 30 minutes at a time and low impact at that. Enjoy getting stuff ready for the baby and getting some extra sleep. Hopefully I will be able to increase this soon, but I don't want to push it more than I should. Don't feel bad about scaling back. You will have plenty of time once the baby is here to workout. Your muscles will also "remember" what they are supposed to do. I think you have done an awesome job this whole pregnancy working out. You are an example to us all. I only hope I can do as well as you have.

Wendy,

I think I would cut back the time and keep the frequency the same. You could always try this for a week and see how your body responds and then modify the schedule as you see fit.

My favorite motto is "listen to your body." Excersizing 6 days a week is fine, as long as your body says it is. You may find that you don't need to cut back in April because you feel fine. As your ever growing belly takes over, however, you may find that you need to modify certain moves, and you will definately feel more breathless as your little one invades your lungs. Do what feels comfortable and don't do what doesn't. (With my second, I did everything the doctor said I shouldn't be able to and then some; with my third, I couldn't do a d#!* thing because I was so tired.)
I will tell you that because of all the work you have done so far, it has helped your L&D and recovery INCREDIBLY!
Here's a little inspiration for you: Demi Moore did a 22 mile trail ride on her bike the day before she had one of her daughters!
Hope this helps!

Thanks for your responses ladies...

I think what I will do is try the first week doing what Imani suggested...6 days per week but shorter work outs and see how I feel and then I can adjust from there...If I find I still have energy to keep going after 30 minutes all six days then maybe I will bump it up to 45 the next week and then as I get tired I can bring it back down again...

My problem is that my brain doesn't like more than one rest day per week...I feel GUILTY regardless of how my body feels! AHHHH! lol I must be INSANE!:p

I also have many many other work outs to do that are not Cathe (Did I just say that?!? lol) that I can do instead as easier alternatives as it becomes more difficult for me...

Thanks again...I'm gonna start working on rotation ideas tonight...my current rotation ends this week...

Gosh, I sure hope so!!! :)

If I have a difficult L and D then I will just have to remember those words and remember how much worse it would have been or atleast COULD have been if I hadn't been exercising this whole time! POSITIVE THINKING! :7
