Okay, stop laughing at me and pick yourself up off the floor! Rolling around like that is not very becoming... *stands with fists on hips*

Seriously, I've always been fascinated with Belly Dancing. I'm wondering if anyone has found a decent video that is more instructional than cardio (I cannot see getting much cardio out of this!) and goes into the basics of the art. Also any good Indian dance videos. I'd like to dance well at the next party I go to - the Indian Holiday Season is about the same time the US holiday season is. (DH is Indian, incase you're wondering).

The Goddess Workout is pretty good. if you find the four pack its a great deal. i got my at best buy for under $18. the first is the intro to bellydance where the instructor, dolphina, takes you step by step of the moves then builds them up to a faster pace. at the end there is a 5-8 min. combo taking moves from all the segments into a short bellydance. the instructor is always changing outfits from segment to segment, and looks a bit to playboish but the "workout" is great. plus if you get the 4 pack you get to try 3 other workouts when you have built up to it.

alot of other recommend the bellydance twins i think you can find them at http://www.naturaljourneys.com, just click on bellydancing. i haven't tried these gals so i don't know much about their videos but some have said they like them better then dolphina, but dolphina's goddess workout is pretty good.

ETA:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0..._1_2/002-7596372-5388053?s=dvd&v=glance&n=130 i found this link, there are some new and used for $10.99 if you go with private sellers. i think there are better deals then what amazon is offering just have to look around if you are still interested.

Bellydance Slim Down with Veena and Neena. It is about 30 min and pretty fun! Great for beginners and showing all the basic moves. It is non stop moving.

I have Blockbuster online and they have a ton of Belly Dancing DVD's, I am also interested in trying Belly Dancing, I never thought I would say that...LOL! I rented 1 DVD and I tried it and it was fun but I could not get the hip shake thing, which kind of shocked me since I LOVE to dance. I just got a new DVD from blockbuster yesterday..I am going to try it today or tomorrow.

I think its great to venture out since starting my serious workout with Cathe in January she has given me the confidence to buy Carmen Electra's Striptease videos it's a surprise for my hubby. I am having fun with it.

Have any of you found that these have helped increase your hip/pelvic flexability? I have been concentrating too much on cardio & strength and feel especially stiff lately. I am starting a rotation with more yoga and pilates and am looking for more ways to loosin' up a bit. Marnie

For me I have not noticed a difference I am going to put one day of piltes/yoga in my week routine as well my first one will be Saturday Stott Piltes and I think the other is Ana Caban they were 30 and 39 minutes so that will put me at an hour. I am trying different instructors. Good Luck.

i find a little more flexbility but its hard to say if its from bellydancing or if its from yoga. i think of rolling the hips in the dances is similar to rolling your shoulders back. it loosens things up and feels so good like a stretch. most videos do an additional stretch at the end as well so that helps with a little hip opening.
