Being Induced Next Week!!

Hi All!
I haven't posted here much lately due to a difficult 2nd pregnancy, which has now resulted in me being booked in to be induced on Monday of next week. I will be 38 weeks by then, and the Doctors are happy with the size/health of the baby (my son came at 38 weeks and was 8lb 9oz, so I don't think I do small babies, LOL!). I have heard so many stories from people about how much more painful and intense the contractions are, and also how sometimes, the inducement doesn't work and can result in an emergency caesarian.
I'm hoping that things will happen naturally on their own before then, but would still love to hear from anyone who has had the experience of being induced and what it was like for you.
Thanks in advance!
Kaz

Hi Kaz! I've been thinking about you! I don't have any experience with inducement but I did have a C-Section with my second child and it went along very easily! (that was 26 years ago! http://www.mega-content.de/smilies/smilies_Picture/erstaunt/2.gif ) I also had a hard pregnancy but my births seemed a breeze in comparison. I know this isn't much helped but I wanted you to know I am thinking of you and will say extra prayers for you. Can't wait to see a pix of that sweet lil' one. Good to see you here. Keep us posted.

Good luck Kaz. My water broke last sept. 12(03), although silly me didn't realize it and proceeded to work out. Finally called the doctor who checked me wanted me induced. I got to the hospital around 11am, was given stress test and eventually induced. i felt fine most of the afternoon but by 5:30 questioned having an epideral if pain increased, at about 6:00 I made the decision to get an epideral but there was a wait and by the time I was checked was 9 cm. 6:48 pm out came Alexis with a few pushes. I am glad I had't heard stories about being induced, i had an easy delivery being induced with only about 1 hour hard , hard labor.

Hi Kaz,

I was induced with my second daughter 2 years ago. I had read/heard all kinds of horror stories too but decided to go with it as we had a family wedding on my due date and I didn't want anything to happen. Since I was already 4cm dilated and about 80% effaced, my ob suggested the induction. I went to the hospital at about 7 am. They started pitocin at around 8 am. By 10 am they came to break my water and suggested if I wanted an epidural, now was the time. By the time I got the epidural it was nearly 10:45 am. When the resident came to check on me at a little after 11 am, I was fully dilated and 100% effaced. He had me give a little push, then told me to stop so he could get my ob. When she got there she had me push again and again I was told to stop while they set up. My DD was born after ONE push!
So, all in all, my induction experience was a very positive one and I hope that your labor, whether induced or not, goes as smoothly.

Good luck,

Klaudia

Hi!
I just wanted to say "thanks" for the feedback and advice here and to let you know that I had a little baby girl on Monday evening at 6.51pm. She weighed in at 8lb 2oz and we have called her Emily Amanda. I did end up being induced, and fortunately it worked first time. Labour was about 4 hours from start to finish (very painful, but definitely worth the end result!!) ;). She is my little angel!

Congratulations! Great name :7 (my name is Emily too)! Hope you are enjoying your precious baby. Maybe you will have some pictures to share. We would love to see them.

I'd LOVE to look at everyone's pics especially the Marvelous Moms' babies because you guys talk about your kids so much I feel like I kind of know them. I'd love to share pictures of my two boys with you guys. If you don't mind. :)
