Beginner Strength Workout

Hi Cathe,

A few questions on behalf of my girlfriend--she's interested in weight training, but the gym just didn't work with her schedule. We saw your show on FitTV and decided that your workouts were the way to go.

1) Could you (or any forum member) recommend a DVD for a beginner who is mainly interested in upper-body strength training? She's got a dumbbell set and adjustable barbell at home, and will get a step if needed. She has no health problems, and decent lower-body strength, but her upper body needs some strengthening.

2) What eating program/exercise frequency would you recommend for adding some muscle mass to her upper body? My girlfriend really liked your look on TV--she especially wants those shoulders!

3) Are there any specific exercises for legs that your would recommend or steer clear of? Your thighs seem to be the same circumference from top to bottom, and she--both of us, actually--would really like to get ours like that. No problems gaining muscle there, but there is too much near the hips and not enough near the knee.
