Beach Bloat Remedies?

I'm leaving for vacation in a few days and am really looking forward to it...except for the bloating I always get when staying at the beach. Last year I lost 5 lbs. of water in my first day home (talk about getting up every hour!). Do any of you have any tricks or quick fixes for this? I know I can't avoid it completely because of the humidity and some of the splurging I'll be doing, but 5 lbs. felt really uncomfortable. I'm already a good water drinker (4-5 32 oz bottles daily), but any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Don't eat anything that will make you bloated. Just try to stick with raw veggies/fruit and lean meats. Pizza, popcorn, white potatoes, white rice, etc. is going to make you bloated.

I, too, have the same problems but not from going to the beach. Two times a year we go to Vegas and I always eat bad, so I anticipate weight gain because of bloating! I have always had a problem with retaining water. My doctor prescribed a diuretic for me and I only take it when I know I'm going to have serious water retention (such as vacation, etc.). I take one tablet the day before I leave for vacation and try and take one each day I'm there (in the morning). It REALLY helps! I don't feel bloated and miserable. Might want to check with your doctor. There are over-the-counter diuretics I've tried, but they aren't as effective. Be real careful because taking them too often is not good. I'm not sure what is bad about it (I think it's bad for the kidneys), but my doctor just said to take only "as needed".

The only time I have problems with water retention is when I eat anything with too much salt in it. Watch your processed foods and avoid concession stands.
