Bathroom scale

Do you own one? I haven't had one in I don't know how long. I don't usually weigh myself, but when I feel the need to, I use the one in the pharmacy section of my grocery store.

I've just started trying to drop 7 pounds and was planning to weigh myself yesterday, but I got to the store after the pharmacy section closed and I couldn't use their scale. I thought about buying one of those Weight Watchers scales (they had them for sale at the grocery). But then I thought, hmmmm...that's $40. So I put it back.

What do you think - waste of money? I'm kind of thinking that if I have one, I will become obsessed about my weight. And it's just another thing to keep clean.

I say DON'T BOTHER!! I've had one for years and about 3 months ago stuck it away because I was getting obsessed about it and am so happy I did. With my body I weigh about the same when I'm eating clean and working out as I do when I'm eating junk and not consistant on workouts. However, I look VERY different when eating clean/workingout and so the scale really in most cases isn't a good measurement. I'd invest in a tape measure over a scale! Just my opinion.:)

I don't own one. Don't care to. It's too easy to become a slave to it. Every once in a while I'll weigh myself at the gym, but honestly it's an afterthought. Like a lot of people have said before, I go by how I look, feel, and the clothes fitting.

I weigh myself every morning. I find that this keeps me on track, encourages me and warns me.

I don't obsess over the number, just note whether it is larger or smaller and use this to guage whether I need to adjust my work outs and eating. I have been losing weight quite gradually, so I don't notice a change in my clothing until I go shopping or when I try on my summer clothes and discover nothing fits!!!

Everyone is different. If you think you'll be obsessed, I wouldn't bother. And trust me, you won't be able to keep your scale clean :) - I gave up long ago!

My DH bought one and I had to work on not getting on that stupid thing everyday. I am at about twice a week now. I hate that thing and wish it was never there. I obsess over numbers too much even if my clothes fit good and my muscles and body are toning up. Don't do it if it's too big of a bad temptation to get obssessed.

I spent about $60 on mine last year. I consider it a great investment because it tracks weight, fat %, water %, and I can change the mode to man or woman and to normal and athlete. It also has a lifetime warranty.

By the way, I agree with everything Corrie said. :)

I only weigh twice a week and it's just to keep track. If my numbers are going up then I make adjustments on my diet and I exercise more (that's what usually happens when I cheat on my diet and don't exercise). About keeping it clean, mine is completely sealed so I clean it with a damp cloth. Oh and I don't keep it in the bathroom, otherwise I'd be tempted to use it every day and then I'd be buying batteries every couple of weeks. I keep it in the box it came in and I store it in one of the corners of my home office.

I weigh myself almost daily as well and it is a way to keep myself on track like you, Corrie. I used to worry that I was *obessing* over my weight because I got on the scale every morning but I've realized that I truly don't...it just keeps me honest and on track. ;)

Do what you think is best for you.

I own the WW's scale and its a good one. It also calculates BF% but I don't know how accurate it is.
Some people can't handle what a scale tells them cause it could drive them nuts..LOL...but I need one to keep myself accountable. Not to mention,I am trying to lose my baby weight so its nice to have one. When I was pregnant the battery died so I couldnt weigh myself at home. Two monthes in a row I gained 10 lbs! Maybe that wouldn't have happened if I had a scale at home! Prehaps I would have seen it creeping up and it would have made the decision for me if I were eating McDonalds for dinner or not!
Anyway, baby is almost 11 weeks old and I have 6.5 lbs left to go of the 45 lbs I gained!
:) I weigh myself every Sun morning.
