Basic Step Work out question

Hello,
I am new to Cathe and just did my first Cathe workout today. The Basic Step. I bought the set from Wal-mart, the step and workout. My question is: Will I be able to use this step will all of her workouts. I know it is smaller than a Health Club Step, which she uses in other videos. This step only cost me $26 with video compared to $100.

Thanks

Hi mbcatac7,

Welcome to the forums!,

If I were you, I would use the smaller step until I felt I was comfortable enough with step aerobics in general to move up to the bigger one. Keep the smaller one and try it with her other videos once you are able to build up your collection a little , believe me you will want more videos, }( , .After you try the smaller step with her other videos then you can see if you want the big one. :) :)

Thanks for you quick response.
I did order Body Fusion from Ebay. I am waiting to get that in this week.
Back in the day, (Before my 5kids) I used to teach Step Aerobics at Bally's. So I really enjoyed the Basic Step. It's been such a long time since I have done step aerobics.
I guess I will see if I feel the need. I am also during Turbo Jam and really liking that.

As you progress with Cathe's workouts (if you choose to do so), you will definitely want to upgrade to the larger step. It provides a bigger space and more stability for some of the more high impact moves. Yet, you have a while to think on it. Body Fusion is a great workout and easily done on a smaller step. Enjoy!

Edit:
If you choose to progress in order, Low Impact Step is your next step and is also done on the smaller step. ;-)

I've been using this small step that I got with a "Buns of Steel" kit back in the early 90's. That thing had done nothing for 10+ years but collect dust and cobwebs in my basement.

I dug it out about three years ago when I got my first "Firm" workout. (I knew I wasn't ready for a high step!!!) Then I started using step aerobic videos and then Cathe (which is a category all to itself!) for the last year and a half. I can feel the indentions in that little cheapo step now, plus, I need a longer, bigger step for jumps and stuff, now that I've advanced a bit.

Hang on to it for a while, but you'll definitely need to upgrade...I've asked DH for one for xmas. Cathe sells them on her site, and you can get them with sets of her DVDs...you might want to try that route!

Good luck!

Check Freecycle or Craig's List for club steps for free or on the cheap. I found one in someone's trash once - a perfectly good club step. Sheesh!
