I was reading the in Washington Post Magazine a couple weeks back about a man who started a bartending school. He asked his wife, who was a teacher, if she knew of anyone who wanted to take the classes for free, as he ws just starting out. A bunch of the teachers at her school, who were always looking for ways to make money, took the classes.
Now he has a staff of almost 200 employees, I think, that he can hire out for special occasion bars - like at bar/bat mitvahs, weddings, corporate meetings, etc.
Since I don't have any gold to mail in and trade for a $check$ (which sounds really cool - I've seen those ads too), I was wondering if anyone here on the forum has been to bartending school. Was it worth it? Was it expensive? How did you learn to make all those drinks? Was it difficult? Were you able to find temp employment?
I was just brainstorming some ideas for summer employeement as I cannot rely on the school district to assign me to a summer school somewhere!
I am in the D.C. area.
Thanksin advance!
