Barbells

I'll apoligize in advance if this has been asked before!
Where does one purchase those nice nifty Troy barbell sets or anything similar to what Cathe uses? I've been looking around but have not been able to find what I am looking for at Dicks Sporting Goods or the Sports Auhtority. I've looked at the vendor links from the Cathe site but these appear to be geared towards vendors, not individuals. It would be nice to pick up one direct and avoid shipping costs. Any advice?
Thanks All!

I am looking to purchase the troy light barbell system too and just wanted to give you some links that I found.

This link lists the set for $99.99 with free shipping.

This link has the set for $50 (if you scroll down). At least I think it is the whole set. The shipping is not included, but if you add it to your cart and calculate shipping it comes to a total of $70.

I don't know anything about either of these companies, so hopefully someone else will chime in. I am so excited about getting a barbell.

I've ordered two sets of Troy Lite barbells from Fitness 1st. And I got some extra plates at the same time. I don't know if they still have the 1.25# weight plates, but they are great for increasing in small increments.

Thank you both! Since there are no local sellers in my area...of course I will be able to buy online from one of these vendors.

Does anyone know how much this Troy light barbell weighs? Just the bar. I just recently purchased a 5 ft chrome straight bar from a local fitness equipment store. I took me quite a while to find one...very frustrating. I feel "complete" now that I finally have one. I've been using Body Bars but have out grown their heaviest one (Yeehaw!!!)

Anyway, mine weighs 13 lbs. Which I was surprised, I thought it would have been lighter than that.

Just curious.

Thanks, Melissa

It says in the description that the bar weighs 5 pounds.

Personally, I prefer to lift with the body bars because of the padding. I find I don't grip as hard and so have fewer injuries (joint issues) than with a regular barbell. However, I have a hard time justifying buying them in the next size when I could have already purchased two entire new 80-pound sets!

I just wanted to thank you ladies for your help. I did order my Troy bar from Fitness First and I am very happy with the service and the barbell.

Melissa, the Troy Lite bar weighs 5 lbs.

It's a great set -- my favorite -- and by the way, cast-iron plates from Dick's or Sports Authority will fit on it just fine (the ones with the smaller diameter hole, that is -- not the ones designed to fit the Olympic bar). I have plates galore left over from my ancient "THE FIRM" barbell (which I still use for heavy squats and lunges), and they add weight to what came with the Troy Lite just fine!
