I have been using the Firm's barbell with their videos for several years and now that I am getting ready to try Cathe's strength training videos I noticed that she uses a super-long heavy duty looking barbell. Will mine work or do I need to get one like hers?:-hmmm Thank you!!

You don't need a long barbell but you will probably be going heavier than you did w/ the Firm videos because Cathe's strength training is generally at a much slower pace. The sequencing also allows you to go heavier. I'm not familiar w/ the Firm barbell but if you haven't maxed out on the weight you can add on, you should be fine. The shorter length is usually nicer (to the walls, tv, lurking pets) for home use.

agree with Debra. weight is weight. Free weight, long bar bell, shorter barbell. All ok, if it's the right weight for what you're trying to do.

The Firm barbell works just fine and dandy with Cathe's videos. You can go quite heavy with the Firm barbell (my DH, using 25 pound weight plates, has loaded it up with at least 100 pounds). And I find the shorter length very nice in terms of 1) balancing, 2) the generally smaller proportions of women's bodies, and 3) avoiding knocking into walls, furniture, etc., klutz that I am!:)
