Barbell Rack

Does anyone have a rack that holds their barbell? I don't know what it is called, but it is for doing squats. I know I can go heavier on legs than I have been, but I'm afraid I'll drop my barbell on my head. :) Does anyone know where I can get a rack for this at a good price. My only other alternative is to have my husband or one of sons at home to help me which I don't think is a good idea. I don't fully trust the boys.

Thanks, Kelley

Hi Kelley,

You'd be looking for a squat rack. I don't have one yet, but that's going to be my next major equipment purchase. There are some that will also accomodate a bench so it can be used for bench presses, and others that are taller and have a bar across the top for pull-ups. Prices vary.

Here's a link of one with a picture to give you an idea.

Hope this helps.

I have one, got it at Sports Authority. Any large sporting goods store will have them.

I just started using mine this week. I was doing S&H Legs & Cathe was using 50 lbs. My bar is only loaded at 45 lbs & I can't lift it over my head. Cathe makes it look so easy! Sheesh!

I'd love to find one like the one we used in a weight training class I took years ago. They were two separate supports that you spaced on your own and adjusted to the height you needed. They didn't take up much space on their own, which would be great for a space-cramped individual like moi!

Thanks for all the replies. I'm going to look into getting one. I would need the one that doesn't take up much space.
