Banslug is on the road :-(

And I told her I would start a thread so that she can check it when she gets home to tell me she made it safely!

Ya' know how cool it is when you meet a fellow Catheite? Well, I've met Gayle before - on the '05 and '07 RTs. Then, ya' know how cool it is when you realize that you have an underlying connection with that Catheite? Well, I knew that from meeting her before and from these boards. But when you get to spend a few days with that Catheite and her family and you come away thinking she is without question one of the greatest human beings on the planet -- well -- that's just one of the greatest gifts you could ever imagine. THANKS GAYLE, JACOB, AND ZACH!!!! YOU GUYS ROCK!!!

They got here on Thursday afternoon and we were sure to get in our workouts on Friday, Saturday, and this morning. :) We were slated to walk the Cleveland half marathon yesterday morning, and the plan was to leave the house at about 5:30. We got up at 4:45 and listened to the pounding rain that had been going most of the night. So, knowing what misery those conditions would hold, we opted for return to sleep and a matinee of Prince Caspian with the kids. Probably a good choice although we were both VERY disappointed that we didn't do the walk.

I won't go into all the details of everything we did, but my favorite was on Friday night when we went to the Popcorn Shop in Chagrin Falls (google it - it's such a cute place) and Gayle's son Zach announced that this was the "second best day of his life." We asked what the first was and he told us it was when he got to go and have a tour of Progressive Field (where the Clev Indians play) -- which had occurred about 7 hours earlier that same day! It was awesome.

Miss Banslug - your boys are absolutely FABULOUS, you are da' bomb, and we are SOOO GLAD that we got to spend this time together! We miss you already. Hope your trip was safe and uneventful - and I can't wait to see you again in a few short weeks! Love you!!! (Now post and tell me you got there ok!) ;)

Glad you all had fun! Lorrie, we love Chagrin Falls and the popcorn shop there is great. We used to live close enough to walk there when my kids were little and we'd go on the playground, feed the ducks, see the falls and get treats from the popcorn shop. We still go there every year.

I was thinking about you yesterday and wondering if you made it to the half-marathon.

Threads like these are a big reason I joined the forums. To me, nothing is more fun than meeting people and having fun.

I can't wait until it's my turn in July!

Sounds like you all had a blast! Glad to hear it was so much fun. Too bad you didn't get to walk, but at least you had a great time!

Lorrie,
Sounds like fun! It really is nice to have a common connection with someone (like Cathe workouts) and find there’s even more of a connection. :)

I think that’s why I keep going on the Cathe RT’s…you can say a workout or even an acronym of a workout (Imax for example) and have at least 10 people give you their opinion on it, lol.

Travel safe Gayle, please let us know when you and the boys are home. :)

Kathy

Lorrie, thanks for the report! I still am so sad I didn't get to meet up with you all. I have had the pleasure of meeting Gayle too on both RT's and so look forward to seeing her again this year. I thought of you when I woke up Sunday and the weather was miserable. Sounds like you all had a wonderful time despite Ohio's typical who-knows-what-will-happen with the weather. Gayle, I hope you & the boys made it home w/o any problems along the way. SEE YOU SOON! Hugs to you & Lorrie!

HEY JERRY!!! You were a topic of one of our conversations this weekend! Right back atcha' -- can't wait to meet up with you in July as well. Yes, this truly is a great place. What was SO cool about my time with Gayle was when we were planning our workout time, neither one of us flinched about getting up in the wee hours of the dawn to devote our time to health and fitness before embarking on activities with our kids. (Then Gayle, Jacob and Zachary even came to my drill team practice where my girls showed off their knowledge of muscles, Gayle got to hoola-hoop with them, and even signed a bunch of year books! Too funny!)

But how many times can you get together with someone and when you say you're getting up at 4:00 a.m. to exercise they don't look at you like you are beyond help?! They just say ok - see you in the workout!? Thank you Cathe - for enabling these boards and that kind of committment!

Well, hello there gang! I really only have a few moments to sit here at the PC, eating my dinner, before we head right back out for DS's baseball game! LOL No rest for the weary, right?

Let me just say that everything Lorrie said about having that connection with a fellow Catheite and FRIEND go her way as well. I felt right at home with Lorrie, her DH and her 'monsters', as she calls them. They are everything BUT monsters. They are the cutest and most HUGGABLE kids around. I kept easing her youngest that he would fit quite nicely in my suitcase LOL It was just like the comforts of home, but with more FRIENDS! Lorrie and her DH's hospitality and generosity are pure examples to the AWESOME folks we meet her at Catheland.

Below are a few pictures for you to check out.

We got home quite safely and rather quickly too! My older DS, who kept an evil eye on our new best friend in the car....GPS....kept reminding me to slow down. GPS (as we came to call her, lol) keeps not only our route and directions, but our stats and speed. Jacob was OH SO excited to tell me that my highest speed the whole trip was 85.8! lol Anyway, what I'm happy to report is that the rip home was uneventful both traffic/car-wise AND car-sickness-free for my younger DS! I'll count my blessings! 6.25 hours and my kids and I are happy to be home safe and sound!

Lorrie-words cannot EXPRESS how thankful I am to both you and your DH! Our trip was above and beyond what we expected and now my kids are both asking when we can return! LOL THANKS, sweetie! I cannot wait to see you again in July! p.s. Thanks for the unrestritcted use of your home gym!!! LOVE getting in those away-from-home workouts!

Gayle

Wow, great pics! They're all adorable, and it looks like everyone had a great time! Can't wait to see you both again in July!

Kathy-You have NO idea how cute these kids were all weekend! Lorrie and I kept finding so many similarities between our kids. The bond they all formed was so quick and immediate.....pure kid, fun-loving kindness from all 5 kids.

The one thing I want to mention about the weekend was Lorrie's DH. It was kind of funny for me to sit there chatting with Lorrie about "PUB" and "Butts & Butts" and getting up at 4am with her DH there. For me, since it's just me and my kids, sometimes I 'worry' about this kind of Cathe-speak around other adults. But her DH just sat there and listened and just ACCEPTED the fact that his wife and this stranger-turned-houseguest would be walking around their home at 4am before the sun rises! lol He was so accepting of not only me, but my kids as well. I mentioned it to him, in fact, that he took our trip to their home on complete blind faith FOR LORRIE and he trusted her judgement is opening their home to the 3 of us. I'm telling you, words simply canNOT describe how welcome and comfortable I felt all weekend.

OK....before tears start strolling, I'll sign off.

Gayle

I am green with envy! :7

It sounds like a wonderful time! Thank you so much for sharing, so I can just imagine such a great couple of days!

Yet another reason Cathe is the greatest! :+
