baby proofing......

Brandon, our 7 month old son, has started scooting around the house like a speed demon and will be walking before we know it. I took some time today to baby-proof the house, things like caps on the outlets, stairway gates, bumpers on table corners, etc. I know we have a few babies in our online Cathe family and just wanted to remind the mommies, daddies...AND grandmoms(hi Debbie H! :) ) out there about baby proofing your house. Just something I had on my mind. I would hate to have something bad happen to one of our little cute ones!
Stay safe.

Hey Trevor!

So good to see you posting! We miss hearing from you. That lil' one must be keeping you hopping! I can't believe Brandon is 7 months already. That is unbelievable.:-wow Our cutie-pie will be 10 weeks old next Tuesday. Gosh, it REALLY does go fast. Thanks for the reminder of safety in the home. Funny, I was just thinking of that yesterday. We got an E-mail from my niece asking if they could stay with us for the Labor Day weekend while they are in town. She has three little ones under the age of 4! I definitely think that calls for some baby-proofing! Give Brandon a big ole hug from us and say Hi to Michele.

Am I an old battleaxe, or does no one use play pens any more? I don't mean to leave the little tikes in there all day, but once in a while. Please, someone, enlighten me. I had two babies in 11 months and three weeks, and I used a play pen. They both turned out OK anyway.

I think it is prefectly fine to use play pens especially when you have two babies in 11 months...wow! I didn't use one for several reasons. I only have one child, NO ROOM for one and he was just as happy on a blanket in whatever room I was in. My mother tried to use one with him a few times and he screamed and screamed and screamed, etc... I don't see anything wrong with them but it just didn't fit our situation too well. Now the swing that you can wind up, that was heaven. I hated for him to outgrow that. He would fall asleep in that sometimes and he really loved the motion. That was really nice to occupy him for a while and keep him quiet...blessed quietness!

No one would ever think you are a battleaxe, Honeybunch! :)

No way!

A "battleaxe" she's NOT! (Where on earth did that word come from???) You should see HB's new body after all her HARD work on the lower body. Not that she didn't look good before, but this gal has trimmed down tremendously & looks GREAT! :-wow I'm impressed at what this 51 year old can do. GREAT role model~Not that I am a spring chicken by ANY means! Just goes to show you if you want results, you need to "JUST DO IT"!!!

Hi Honey!
No you're not a battleaxe! :) We have 2 playpens just for Brandon that we use every so often. The thing is, they need some floorspace to crawl and build strength so Brandon is out of the pens more than he is in them. Also, when they start walking the first thing they will do is go for the outlets....guaranteed!
Take care.
Trevor :) :-jumpy

My 7 mo. old isn't walking yet, but still goes for the outlets. And I have cabinet latches on my list. I also have a playpen, but just never think to use it...and my boys are 4 yrs apart. I can't imagine 11 mo. No wonder you are so strong HB!

Pictures Please!

Hi Trevor,

Nice to see your post. Could you post a picture or two! WE love babies!!

Enjoy every moment. You'll blink and they will be 18. Our oldest just moved out on his own. He is college bound. It takes alot of energy when they are exploring everything. Enjoy! It's such a precious time to see your little growing into a toddler!!!

Best to your family!
Laura

RE: No way!

Gee whiz! Thanks for the compliment! It just proved my theory that I just had to work harder, but I had no idea how much harder!!! I'm going to go into week 13 of the Lower Body Solution next week.

I'm glad to see that I didn't cause any damage to my kids by using a playpen!
