After 22 hours of labor (nope, not a typo), my son Derek was brought into the world via C-section on Tuesday evening, December 27th.
The reason for the C-section was because after those 22 hours, I was only 6 cm dilated and 60% effaced, the baby's heart rate was 30 bpm up from when fetal monitoring had begun, and I had also developed a 101 degree fever around the 16th hour.
I got home from the hospital this afternoon. Exercise will commence with the OB's OK, probably in about six weeks. I'm recovering rather quickly from the C-section, but I will need to be sitting on my rear end more. Quite a change, but I'll have no problem getting used to it for the time being. :)

Wow! Sounds like quite the labor story! You'll have to give us more details when you're up to it. How much did Derek weigh? Is everything healthy with him? Take care & keep in touch!

Congratulations Adrienne!!! Hope you'll be feeling better soon. Sounds like a tough birth, but it's always a good birth when you come out with a healthy mom and baby. I'd love more details too when your up to it. Hug your little one!!

congratulations! Two of my three kids were born by c/s, and there is NOTHING worse than long labor followed by a c/s. You're probably absolutely exhausted, even if you don't know it! Take it easy, and enjoy him while he's this little. If you get the exercise itch (I think most of us do), remember to take it really easy. COngratulations again. Kristan

Adrienne--I wondered where you were:). Congratulations that all turned out so well, even though the process was somewhat miserable for you. Enjoy your new little one and get lots of rest if you can. I hope you have lots of support and help.

Keep us posted!
