<--waves very, very wearily to everyone
<--has had the absolute weekend from hell!!!
<--will leave the <-- talk to explain....
Friday night, work, was super busy....started with 2 patients in the 6 bed section, moved one out and got 5 in from the ER! No big deal there....
Saturday morning....
0715- work phone rings, it's DH, he tells me not to leave work, he's on his way in by ambulance. I clock out and head to the ER to wait for him
0815- DH rolls into the ER in full C-spine precautions (i.e. C-collar, back board, etc). It turns out that he fell in the shower and knocked himself unconscious!! He doesn't remember how long he was out, but long enough to run the hot water heater out of hot water....the cold water was what woke him up! Anyway, the doc comes in to check him out and Dave is pretty much out of it. He can't stay away, his words were slurred and he wasn't able to follow commands....and the ER doc YELLED at him!!! He was x-rayed, and had a head CT scan, all were negative for injury, thank goodness!!! Anyway, the doc was super rude and basically pegged DH for a drug seeker (because of his back problems) even though he was in the ER for a head injury!!! About noon, the doc came in, said that everything was negative and that they were going to get him up, walking and send him home...even though Dave was still unconscious and not waking up!!! They ended up keeping him for observation until about 6pm and we finally got home about 6:30 Saturday night. Oh, don't forget, I'd been up since 4p the afternoon before!!! When we got home and I got Dave fed, we started checking him over....found that his right knee was bruised and swollen to twice the size of his left....completely missed by the ER doc!!! I called the hospital supervisor to let them know about Dave's 'wonderful' treatment in their ER and they asked if we were coming back in to get the knee checked out. Heck NO!!! Not after the way that he was treated!!! Oh, the best was that the ER doc told him, "I'm going to send you home because you have better drugs there than I can give you here in the ER!!!" WHAT!?!?!?!? Oh, never mind that Dave can't remember that he fell and hit his head, nor that he doesn't remember call the ambulance or me!!! When he started 'waking' up, he looked around and had no idea where he even was!!! Oh, but he's drug seeking for his back! He didn't even ask for a glass of water! ARGH!!! He was basically out cold for about 7-8 hours! He still can't remember the entire day!
Anyway, fast forward to Sunday night....I worked my 12 hours, then stuck around to take care of some 'administrative' duties, i.e. turning in the 2 page, single spaced, typed letter that I wrote about Dave's atrocious and prejudicial treatment in the ER. I can't wait to see how they resolve that issue!! Then, I called, got Dave an follow up appt with his regular doc at 11a yesterday morning, so I had to run home, change out of my uniform, and haul Dave back to the hospital (it's a 40 min drive each way). She was able to get him scheduled for an MRI of his knee, but not until 5pm. So we got something to eat and hung out for about an hour at the local bookstore where I chugged some coffee at 4pm! Back to the hosptial for the MRI, which took about 45 minutes, then finally came home! I had been up a total of 27+ hours yesterday and was in bed by 8pm!!
<--is sorry for Shelley's X issue
<--doesn't think that Sophie needs to be around that, either
<--is seriously considering a nap right now!!!
