Awesome Preggo's Check in Week of August 28th

Cathlete
Hi ladies! It certainly seems as if everyone is busy, busy, busy. My oldest begins school on Tuesday, then life will change again. Justin is growing like a weed, which makes me even happier that another one is on the way. They grow up way too fast.

I had a ob check up on Wednesday & I only gained 1-lb last month!!! Yahoo! I won't tell you guys how much I gained last month...it was a lot. ;) About the same time last pregnancy I gained a bunch in one month. My appetite is beginning to wane, and dare I say my energy level may be higher?

Fiddlefit, are you still with us, or did you have your baby?

Do we have any ladies suffering from Hurricaine Katrina?

How are our bedrest buddies doing?

Not a great week exercise wise, but I made it through.

Sun: off (super tired, took TWO naps!)
Mon: off
Tue: KPC quick pick
Wed: State Fair (does this count? I walked for 9 hours with a 25-lb baby on my back!!)
Thurs: off (had to catch up on housecleaning)
Fri: Janis' Kickbox Circuit
Sat: High Step Challenge (just discovered this one, like it a lot)

That's it!!

Hi!

My week:

MON: Mega Step Blast
TUES: Cardio & Weights
WEDS: Low Max, intervals 1-4
THURS: KPC/LG premix #18 (circuits combos with standing leg work)
FRI: Low Max, intervals 4-7; Total Body Stretch #3
SAT: Body Fusion Step; Muscle Endurance upper body premix; TBS #3
SUN: rest

Melanie - yup, I'm still here! The bit of mucous plug I passed 2 weeks ago was not blood-tinged; just looked like extremely thick & sticky snot :p And it was only a small bit. I've resigned myself to the fact that I'll likely be here another two weeks. I think I'm just having lots of wishful thinking that I'll go early. I'm very impatient. I would definitely say that walking for 9.5 hours with a baby on your back qualifies as a workout!!! My oldest DD began kindergarten last Thursday, too. Five years goes by so fast.

Gracenote - how did the GD test go last week?

Maggie - how great that you're finally feeling the baby move so much more! That must make you feel so much better! How did your rest week go?

Dana - how is your son doing? Is he handling the cast and the pain okay? How did your Friday appointment go? I love all the walking you're doing. That must be very stress-relieving.

Julie - how goes the bedrest? Have things settled down at all??

Kristi - are you getting induced on the 9th because DH will be out of town on the 17th? Just curious. I don't think you ever mentioned why you are getting induced.

Monica - Oooooooh, those H sound terrible!!!!!! Was the doctor able to help you out?

Adrienne - doing the KM leg drills the day after the LG ankle weight work must have done a number on your thighs. Yowzer!!

Allison - don't feel bad about needing some rest time. It's dang hard to exercise when you feel so crappy, and no one blames you for sitting it out. Hopefully you will start feeling better by the second trimester and can start doing some activity then. I own a few pregnancy yoga workouts, but don't recommend any of them. The only one that I think might be good, but I don't own, is YogaZone's pregnancy video. I only learned about this one recently, and I'm too close to the end to want to spend the money on it.

Have a good week everyone!
Sandra

You're awesome Sandra! How do you keep track of everyone so well?!?! I'm soooooooooooo envious! ;)

Hi everyone! Just wondering, how many of you started out with using an 8-inch step, and then had to lower it? I'm 23 weeks now, and so far I've managed to drag myself through 8 inch step workouts. This week, I'm going to have to give in and lower to 6 inches, because I've been getting too winded too quickly. I guess that's partly because I'm carrying 12 extra pounds. Also, I didn't do any step this past week, since I've had a recurrence of plantar fasciitis in my right foot. :( I plan on trying Cardio and Weights tomorrow.

Sun: Stationary bike, 10 minutes; Muscle Max upper body and (modified) abs
Mon: 1 mile walk
Tue: 40 minutes elliptical
Wed: SJP Jump and Pump sections (more like Bounce On Balls Of Feet than Jump)
Thu: 1 mile walk
Fri: Stationery bike, 16 miles
Sat: 1 mile walk

Sandra - I thought I could still handle the back-to-back ankle weights & conditioning drills. Nope, not anymore! :p
Please keep us posted, you're almost at the finish line. :D

Allison: I've tried to do Crunch Yoga Mama once per week. At first I hated it, but it's grown on me. My back and legs feel a lot better (except for that pesky plantar fascia).

Hope you all have a good week. :7

My week was pretty non-intense. I have become nesting-obesessed. My husband asked me why I couldn't relax. I responded by telling him I was unhappy unless I was cleaning. I did buy some needlepoint Christmas ornaments, so that keeps me off my feet for a while at night. I'm a bit rusty at needlepoint but enjoying it.

Monday: 2.5 mile walk, run (walk fast) stairs
Tuesday: Crunch "fat burning" yoga
Wednesday: SJP w/u and step, ME lower body premix
Thursday: 40 minutes on cardio machines at gym
Friday: swim 1/2 mile on kickboard, pulling almost 3 year old with a noodle. The most tiring workout of the week
Saturday: nothing! My DD's took a 'sibling' class at the hospital and I spent at least 2 hours at Target all by myself.
Sunday: swim 1/2 mile; LOTS of gardening, weeding, and scrubbing floors. I added some much needed vigor/color to my tired perennial garden.

have a good week!

Kristan, 31 weeks, due 11-1 with #3

Hi everyone

Sandra--your ability to respond to everyone amazes me too! Hang in there--you are soooo close:7 :7

Melani--I don't even want to stand on the scales--I don't feel fatter, everything is fitting about the same, but I've been eating like a piglet, especially today.

Adrienne--I tweaked my back, so I'll be lowering my step height to 4" (I feel like such a loserx( ), but I can't risk a real injury.

Kristan--your week looks pretty active to me:)

But then again, I just got off a rest week--I start again tomorrow. My back feels much better. I've been stretching my back and working on my posture.

I'll be quiting all jumpingx( , using our boring stationary bike morex( and lowering my step height to 4". It almost seems pointless, but at least it keeps me in the habit of exercise and I won't lose all my fitness gains. (although it feels like it.)

My lifting for the most part will go on as normal, but on exercises that utilize the lower back I will lower the weight and gradually raise it again as I can.

My eating was really bad this week. I am a stress eater and we have a lot of extended family garbage going on. Do you ever just want to move far far away from family???

take care all,
Maggie

Adrienne, I dropped my step height about 6 weeks ago, it was either that or going to a different exercise program. I tell myself that I'm working out with a 15 lb ball attatched to me, of course I have to lower the step!

Maggie, I'm sorry about your sore back. That really stinks! DH & I DID move far away from family. We miss them most around the holidays. I"m praying now that my kids won't move away from us. It can be very lonely.

Hi everyone,

I don't post on these threads but I want you all to know that I do read them regularly to see how and what other preggos are doing. You're all so inspiring. Often, I read your posts for inspiration to keep working out and it works.

Thanks and good luck to you all,

Thanks Wendy! Please join us whenever you feel you want to, okay? It's nice to know that others are interersted, even if they don't join. :D

Wendy - I get the same motivation - what a wonderful group of ladies, don't you think? I was in a slump, not wanting to do ANYTHING, and then I come here and read the posts… You can laugh if you want, but sometimes, the only reason I work out is because I don’t want you all to think I’m a slacker. :)

Sunday - walk
Monday - Power Max
Tuesday - worked late and had to rush to an evening meeting
Wednesday - walk
Thursday - nothing - GD test went okay - I'll wait to hear about the results. I got sick a few hours later (shakes, dizzy, cold sweat, nausea, etc.) but think that was from not eating. Had to get the dog from the vet - can you believe she had to have dental surgery that cost almost $500 and has to BACK for MORE?!?! I was stunned, but what can you do. There goes my Cathe tape fund :(
Friday - Walk
Saturday - house cleaning, shopping and a quick walk

My primary OB dr. agreed to induce at least one week early. She won't commit to two until we get closer and see how the baby is doing. I'm getting so excited - can't wait to meet the little person who's been kicking me so much!! (Gotta see for myself that those feet aren't HUGE!! They feel like she's wearing clown shoes - with spikes!)

Sandra – I had good money on you ‘graduating’ from our circle this week! In a way, I’m glad you’re still here – I need your motivating posts. How are you feeling? Your workouts and energy amaze me!

Adrienne – I had to lower my step to 6” for safety reasons about a month ago. When I’m tired, I lose what little coordination I have and it was just too dangerous. I kept kicking the step and tripping over it, so off went a pair of risers. Once I lowered it, I didn’t need to modify as much, so it’s not hard to keep my HR in the right zone. Sorry to hear about the PF, too. Is there anything you can do to relieve that? I’ve never had it, but have heard it’s pretty painful and can be debilitating…

Kristan – DH complains about me, too. He gets frustrated when I clean things that HE considers ‘just fine’. HA! (His standards and mine sometimes veer wildly apart!) It’s weird, but I get a lot of satisfaction out of a clean house – it’s hard to relax when my brain keeps popping up things that need to be done, so it’s easier to just do them. BTW, your week certainly doesn’t look non-intense!

Maggie – Sorry to hear about your back problems – I hope the rest did it some good. Backs can be so tricky about healing! And, yes, we live away from family, and it’s sometimes a good thing.

Melanie – Back to school…part of me is just waiting for that to start, and another (bigger) part of me wants to keep them small forever. It’s funny how we work so hard to make them independent, and then are sad when they finally are.

Monica – Geez, can I sympathize with the dreaded H!! I had a horrible bout after #2 – about passed out in the bathroom it was so bad. I never realized until then how bad they could be! I sure hope you find some relief soon, and am sending all the healing vibes I can!!

Hope you all have a great week - the cooler weather here feels great. Happy Labor Day!

Hello Ladies! Everyone is doing such a wonderful job!

My energy level is the highest it has been this whole pregnancy, which is saying a lot. This past week I feel I have accomplished something for a change.

Sunday - walk
Monday - walk
Wednesday - walk
Friday - push mowed my yard (1 1/2 hours)
Saturday - planted some mums and mulched front yard, went through
DS's clothes and closet to make some room
Sunday - hand washed car & vacuumed inside, went shopping for a few
baby things

Sandra, the primary reason I am being induced is because of my 3 year old DS. DH & I don't have any family that lives close by. My inlaws are coming in from 2 hours away to be here for the birth of this baby and to take care of DS. Luckily DH's work has decided to wait until at least a week or two after the birth of DD before he will probably need to leave out again. That was another concern I had. A couple of weeks ago when DH was in Iowa I was having contractions. I did a lot of praying that I would not go into labor while he was away. Especially since my inlaws were out of town at the same too. It would have been really hard to make arrangements for DS.

Keep up the good work ladies!!

Hi everyone. Thanks for all your sympathy with my indelicate problem. I am happy to report that the doctor WAS able to help (or maybe it would have gotten better on its own but I wasn't gonna take any chances). The downside is that I decided to take the entire last week off from exercising, except for walking the dogs. I got the new DVDs last week and resumed my exercising by doing Low Impact Step yesterday on only a four inch step because I am so gun-shy right now about straining myself. Well, I am pleased to report that it was fairly easy (and a lot of fun) so I will bring it back up to 6 inches.

My dr's appointment went well. Passed the GD test but gained five pounds since my last appointment. I had only gained 10 up until that point (24 weeks), so I knew I was overdue to put on some weight, but it was weird to gain in only 4 weeks half of what I had gained in the previous 24. My appetite is starting to pick up (not that it was ever small, even before I was pg) so I am just trying to enjoy it. I'm starting to feel big . . .

I am glad for you ladies who are so close to delivering, but I am a little sad that we will be losing you from this check in so soon. At least we've had a few new members recently!

Monica

Hi ladies. I didn't do anything last week. I need a graphic with a bag over my head to insert here. Rather then walking at lunch last week, I shortened my lunch to a 1/2 hour so I could get more done. I only have 4 weeks or so until baby arrives and I have so much to finish at the office. But this week I am going to take my full lunches since it is supposed to be a beautiful week.

My dr appt went well. My midwife said that I lost some weight since last appt but she believes it was probably some extra weight I was retaining due to the heat. As of Friday, I've gained 22lbs.

Sandra thanks for asking about my son. His is doing fine with his arm. I'm just afraid he's going to break it again - the cast does not slow him down at all.

Have a great week everyone!

Warning - venting ahead!!

DH just got back from a dr's appt. He's been having sinus problems again (he had a 6 month bout with an infection this Spring) They've decided to quit playing with the antibiotics and go for surgery - next week.

Not sure what that entails, but it sounds like they clean out the skull with a surgical shop vac... He's not happy, but we're hoping it will at least get rid of the headaches, dizziness and other symptoms. He's already warned me that he will need to recover for 10 days following the procedure. I hate to sound like a b****, but he can be such a baby sometimes. Not that I don't sympathize with his discomfort, but HELLO ~~ Pregnant lady here with all the glorious side effects (ligament pain, migraines, stuffy nose, nausea, etc)! And I DON'T get to take any OTC meds... (I'm jealous of his cold tablets and I can admit that!) Recover for 10 days?!

I just get so frustrated because I count on him to watch the girls so I can workout or at least get a break once in awhile between work, house, school and kids. He has fibromyalgia as a chronic condition, and that causes periodic breakouts of symptoms where he can't do a lot, and now with this sinus thing on top of that, I feel a little 'overworked and underpaid'. <sigh> I try to count my blessings, and, really, I have many, so this is just a temporary storm (perhaps due to those lovely pg hormones...) DH is such a wonderful husband and father in so many other ways and I'm lucky to have found him... just have to remember that and hope that this passes soon...
